Requiem of Sorrow Installation v6.00 Final Instructions

Post by talonrage » Wed Apr 20, 2005 4:28 am

This mod Does NOT support such hacks as D2Loader or {filtered}. If you are running these , delete them. Repeat , ROS only works with a CLEAN install which requires a disc in the tray (and no I dont care to make this mod compatable with them)

1) If you have installed Requiem of Sorrow Beta v5.07 or lower , DELETE THEM. They are NOT compatable with Requiem of Sorrow v6.00+. If you keep your installation of v5.07 or lower and install v6.0+ , you will HAVE ERRORS. This is also the case with any of my PLUGINS. DO NOT USE THESE EITHER.

* (Delete the Requiem Folder from the Diablo II \ Mods folder)

Requiem of Sorrow v6.00 Final

RoS Patch v6.06

Whats in this Download :

1) This Readme
2) Mods.exe (the base files needed to Run Requiem of Sorrow)
3) Desktop Shortcut Startup Icon for Requiem of Sorrow
4) Official Patch v1.11 Compatable Files.zip Folder

_____________________________________

To Install (based on the official Patch v.1.10):
_____________________________________

Place the Mods.exe into your main D2 Root directory. Select the Mods.exe file and click it to execute. Do not change the install path unless you know what you are doing as it self-installs to the proper folder if within the main D2 directory.

Place the New Requiem of Sorrow Startup Icon on your desktop and use it to run the Mod. This is based on a default install path of :

"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Mods\Requiem\LaunchModGame.vbs"

So if you installed Diablo II anywhere other then C:\Program Files\Diablo II , you will need to edit the Target Line and StartIn lines to reflect these changes. (By selecting the shortcut properties)

For instance , if you installed it to :
"D:\Program Files\Diablo II
The you need to make the following changes :
Target :"D:\Program Files\Diablo II\Mods\Requiem\LaunchModGame.vbs"
StartIn :"D:\Program Files\Diablo II\mods\Requiem"

Second Example , if you installed it to :
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II Mod
The you need to make the following changes :
Target :"C:\Program Files\Diablo II Mod\Mods\Requiem\LaunchModGame.vbs"
StartIn :"C:\Program Files\Diablo II Mod\mods\Requiem"

Now use the Desktop Icon to Launch the Mod.

** NOTE **
If you have problems launching RoS , then Open up the Diablo II \ Mods \ Requiem Folder and select the LaunchModGame.exe file and send it to the desktop. Use this Icon to start the game.

INSTALLING UPDATES
___________________

With v6.01+ , updates are easy as the latest patch update has all previous updates in it as well.

1) Unzip the Update v?.?.rar folder. Inside will be a MODS.EXE installer file. Copy this file into the same Diablo II Directectory you Installed Requiem of Sorrow. Left-Click the Mods.exe installer and select Install. Do not edit it in any way. It will auto-install to the proper folders and update the mod.

NOW , if you install using these simple methods , you should not have any problems.

Note that I have downloaded all the files and installed them myself as if I was downloading someone elses mod and installed it using this method and I received no errors (And I'm using the Official Patch v1.11b). I continue playing and testing using this Downloaded version and still havent received any errors.

Happy Playing (Hopefully).

Installing Over Diablo II

------------------------------

If you are having problems with installing Requiem of Sorrow , there is a final alternative that is 100% foolproof. This is to install Requiem of Sorrow directly into the Diablo II root folder. Naturally , its best to make a copy of your root Diablo II folder to do this , as only Requiem of Sorrow will be playable from it. This method will use up about 1.8 GB harddrive.

Steps to do this..

1) Copy your entire Diablo II Root Directory folder (with official patch v1.10 installed) and rename this new folder to Requiem of Sorrow.
2) Now , run the Mods.exe on your desktop , open up the Mods\Requiem folder (from the desktop) and copy ALL the files (within the Requiem folder) directly into your newly made Requiem of Sorrow folder.
3) Open up your Requiem of Sorrow folder , locate the Diablo II startup icon and send it to the desktop. (Right-click the icon , select "send to" and "Desktop (create shortcut)".
4) Now rename the desktop shortcut to Requiem (so you can tell it apart from a normal Diablo II shortcut.
5) Lastly , edit the Requiem shortcut "Target" line to say -direct -txt
IE: "C:\Program Files\Requiem of Sorrow\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt

ADVANCED EDITING **
________________________

-------------------------------------------------------------
* Launching RoS from a Official Patch v1.11 Install. *
-------------------------------------------------------------

Unzip the Official Patch v1.11 Compatable Files.zip Folder.
Place the Game1.exe into your ROOT Diablo II directory and place the alternate Desktop Startup Icon on the desktop to run the game.
If you have installed to another directory , you will need to change the Target Line and StartIn lines as above.

If you have problems launching RoS from a patch v1.11 install , there are two ways to fix this.

A) Open up your Diablo II directory \ Mods \ Requiem folder (or whatever you installed RoS to.

B) Locate the "LaunchModGame" file , Right-Click it and send it to the desktop as a shortcut.

C) You will need to edit this new Desktop shortcut now. So , Right-Click it and select "EDIT" from the dropdown bar. This will open up the features. Do a search (Its under the Edit feature as "Find..." on :
D2CmdLine = chr(34) & D2Path & "game.exe" & chr(34) & "-direct"
You will need to change "game.exe" to "game1.exe". Then save and close.

Now run the Mod using this new vbs shortcut. If this fails , you'll need to ALSO create a patch v1.10 Game.exe from your own game discs , so :

What you'll need to do is :

1) Rename your Diablo II Install v1.11 to something like Diablo III

2) Install Diablo II again.

3) Patch it to v1.10 with a patch v1.10 installer (can be found here in the Keep).

4) Then open up your Diablo II (V1.10) and locate the "Invisble Icon" Diablo II.exe (IE its invisible with only the name showing) , rename it to game1 and then place this into your Diablo II.11 Directory.

5) Delete your Diablo II folder , and then rename your Diablo III back to Diablo II.

6) Now , whenever you launch Diablo II from normal , it will use the game.exe for patch v1.11 , and when you launch RoS it will use game1.exe for patch v1.10.
