1. Do yo guys ever see yourselves releasing public information on how to run scripts in D2?
2. Does it require running another program to inject the scripts or are they called from the game (new memory areas)?
3. Is there a way to do this with other blizzard games like Warcraft 3?
3b. (assuming yes to above question) If someone made a custom map for WC3 would they be able to share the mod on LAN through the game (with the map file) or would the other PC need to download the scripting seperately from the map files?
(also assuming someone knows stuff about wc3 )

for number 3, WC3 already has an embedded scripting engine(JASS), which allows one to do pretty much anything and is stored in the map files.

Well,
1.) Theres not really much to it because LUA by itself is free opensource scripting lib, what one can do with this afterwards really depends on how much of the underlaying game they've reprogrammed that can be exposed to the scripting engine, adding LUA support to D2 by itself doesn't do anything.
2.) Read the stickied topics to get an impression of what has to be reprogrammed for this to be of any use in D2.
3.) You can do this with any program whatsoever, as long as you can RE it and load your own module into it.
