exceeded maximum number of login attempts?

I tried logging in today, and I accidently typed in my password wrong as I often do due to typing carelessly fast
And this time, I was given a message saying something like I have exceeded the maximum number of login attempts and that I will now be forced to type in one of those squiggly code things in each login.
I don't really want to type that in every time, as I often get the quiggly codes wrong because they look confusing
Also, I used the search for a fragment of that message, and nothing came up.
Has this not happened to anyone else?
