There wasn't much point in my adding to the official TFW site when you were doing so well with tfwfans. Besides, with GameSpy shutting down all hosted sites at PlanetDiablo, the official site will be gone at the end of next month. I am sorry I let you down.DeathScythe handed the TFW story on to me with an understanding that I would not spread it around. I did get some assistance from another modder, GuyAskingQuestion, on specific features. But we are not modding these days. Blizzard is likely to release D3 before that changes, at least as far as RL for me is concerned. I am a very occasional visitor, Guy hasn't been around much and DeathScythe is a once-a-year ghost; it would be hard for me to ask about DeathScythe's wishes these days.
One key feature of TFW:Ancients was a significant rearrangement of the random maps. When I stopped modding, I knew enough to seriously twist much of Act 1 and parts of Act 5 around, but there were some great ideas in other places that I never did get working (example, a far more complex Act II Palace). That involved serious codebending; I don't know if there are more than a handful of D2 modders that could run with it the way I had intended (roughly double the original map space, actually)...and they have their own projects. So nobody will be struggling through the Fortress of Sorrow to find the Elder anytime soon.
