This mod is obviously well-defined (and downloadable). So I am moving the discussion to its own thread in Non-Hosted Mods.

mrelfire, I think your mod is really interesting, but I can't get it to load. When I run the game, everything is fine (d2mod in the lower left, no realm selection), but as soon as i press Single Player, this error appears:

Assertion Failure
Location: D2Win\Src\D2Comp.cpp, line #2887
Expression: nStackIndex < 64

I messed a little around to track down if the error is from the dlls, and when i removed your patch_d2.mpq file it worked flawless :) So I guess it is a problem I have with your mod and not with the dlls.

I use the most recent version from your homepage.

Edit:

I messed around a little more to find out, that there are different error messages: When I remove the Save dir, Diablo II sends me directly to create new character. I select one, enter a name, and try to start game with this char. Now this error appears:

Assertion Failure
Location: D2CMP\SRC\CelCmp.cpp, line #1521
Expression: lpParent

those are obviously problems with dlls, but what creates those errors? Well, do your best :)

have you downloaded the zip with the dll's and unzip all of them?,
and registered with d2modsetup.Bat ?
is it lod 1.10 ?
have you downloaded the 4 elements of patch_d2.mpq and merge them to obtain a file > 100 Meg ?

zip with dlls - check
registered - check (I got D2 Mod System in the lower left on the main screen)
lod 1.10 - check
4 elements - check (but the file is just 94 mb, redownloading is a nifty idea, i'll just try it right now :) )

Edit: New error now when creating and selecting character:

Assertion Failure
Location: D2Common\DATATBLS\ItemTbls.cpp, line #2009
Expression: ptItemStats != NULL

I'm redownloading again :) because last time patch_d2.mpq had 99,5 mb, and thats still below 100, am I right? :)

Edit: still after redownloading same error,
filesizes are perfect, patch_d2.mpq has exactly 101.943.587 Bytes... dont know where this error comes from... well, going to bed now

ok that means theire is a difference with your first error.

the size is 99 555 for version 1.03E7 .

the kind of error is better (it can be a bug on my side=> which caracter ?)
I have just created a barbarian as a new test, and no problem, and also I have reloaded all my testing character

P.S.
inside the file Patch_D2.mpq_Merge.bat
you have a CRC information

quite strange, have you deleted character+map and try again ?
you should have a log like D2040726.txt, can you delete it, launch your game and send it to me, please ?
can you send me also your character you have created ?
well, i guess I have to wait for a new version
It's not the version. It works fine for everyone else.

You could have any number of system problems causing your error.
The most likely being low memory/resources. This mod needs a lot of memory to load.

Is your d2 install "clean" or do you have edited dll's ?

I suggest making a clean d2 install. be sure there are no additional dlls or ini files in the folder.
make a C:\mrelfire folder.
put all the mod files in there including the dlls, ini etc.
Put d2mod.dll and d2modSetup.bat in the D2 folder.
Make a shortcut to "Start in" C:\mrelfire and the target D2FOLDER\game.exe -w.

This setup will give you the least possible conflicts and let you do further testing.

It COULD be system problems, but I never encountered problems with any D2 Mod I played, also larger ones like Eastern Sun or CryptForge, what also requires lots of memory. There are no edited dlls from what I know.

Btw SVR, does your D2Mod System include itself in any other files than d2gfx.dll?

You know what's strange? I tried the way with the Shortcut to Diablo II.exe and running that in the mrelfire dir and it worked. I always used the old mod launcher Script by Bonescythe & Foxbat from 1.09 that moved dlls and changed save dir, but now was the first time there were problems with it. I'm looking right now how to fix it.

Thank you both, and sorry for the trouble.

Nope. Only d2gfx is hooked on disk. All other edits are applied in memory at runtime.

Using a script loader isn't nessessary but would work if you can add the d2mod.ini & needed dlls.
The key there is that d2mod.ini *must* be in the "working directory" for d2mod.dll to find it.
So if the launcher runs D2 in the D2 folder (like most scripts do), d2mod.dll won't find the ini unless it is copied by the script.
The plugin dlls will be searched out in normal Windows order, the executables directory (ie; where game.exe is), working directory, PATH setting.

BTW, if you want to run d2 clean after you setup D2Mod, add -NoMod to your normal D2 shortcut command line.
It will then run clean so you can get on bnet etc.

gwolf here,i am back again playing your mod, just downloaded your newest version,no problems yet.I read the changes that u put in since i had problems with it.I unstalled it and reinstalled it now and it works great.i also picked up a new toy for my computer,an external creative labs audigy fx sound blaster card. The sound it brings out is fantastic.just a quick queston about the mod. do u have any rune word or cube recipes for this mod or does it use the standard ones, and if it does have them where would i find them. almost forgot to ask u is it possible for u to have your website up and running 24 hrs a day, because my hours to access it is 2 am - 10 am,which means the only real time i can access it is on the weekends. or can u get it to be a hosted site either here at pk or at planet diablo. any way i justwant to thak u for all the hard work u put in this ecelent mod,my favorite.

thanks
gwolf

First : I am happy to take as much pleasure like me on this version 1.04E1.
take into account this mod is oriented for multiplayer (I used to play with my family : minimum 3 persons)

all my files are loaded on this server
http://go4proinfo.free.fr/Mod/Lod_V1.10/
and you can access 24x24

Regarding your questions:
runeword:not yet improved
cube recipes : improved
1/ like using a melding rune on any weapons, armor, ...,
2/ 3 runes: create sockets
3/ exlixir+weapon/armor=> craft items

and all sirgeneral rune mod (but not activated)

Remimber: the basic is to improve your equipment with gems
and for you character charms
this means you can not have 2 same weapons/character in a game.

thanks gwolf(# 1 fan of this mod)

ps. did u make this mod on your own or did u have help?,what is the origin of this mod,how did u think of it,where did u get the name of it and how old r u,because u r a genius for this game and u should get a job at some software game company.

I do not think theire is a problem to use both (obviously if you activate the same functions between both, I suspect you should encounter some problems)
on the other hands try to not give you too much (like increasing storage space) this will unbalnace the mod.

Why this mod ?
I have created this mod to play with my wife and my son (4.5 years)
in multiplayer (so I have optimized each acts to be plaed for 3 : an amazone (my son) + 2 different characters.)
I have looked all the message from everybody on this forum, and my first mod was an introcing of sir genrela idea (you still have it, but I have deactivated : the game was unbalanced: a peace of cake)

P.S.
I am currently introducing thousands of runesword.

Ok im trying to get this game to work but the merge doesnt want to work. I created a folder called Mrelfires mod and DLed all the files. When I click on the patch merger it comes up reading

*** Cannot Start Reassembly file already exists ***
Press any key to continue.....

Sounds like an error/problem to me but press keys anyways and it does nothing. I tried moving em to D2 folder same thing, and iv read the readme.

Any tips or an alt way of patching?

OK let's start from a clean directory:
download all the files
Mod : Component 1
Mod : Component 2
Mod : Component 3
Mod : Component 4
Mod : Component 5
and
Mod : Component specific to merge the files
now launch the bat to create this big mpq.
backup your d2patch.mpq of your diablo's directory and put mine instead

download now
Mandatory Dll's
which you put into you diablo's directory
run the d2modsetup bat files.

and have fun

P.S.
theire is a test at the beginning of the batch to prevent erasing a file :
@if not exist "Patch_D2.mpq" goto reassemble
@echo *** Cannot start reassembly: file already exists ***
