Fixed 1.13c TXT Files
Updated on August 23, 2020
By Count.Dracula

What is this?
Fix several bugs and extend some files based on the original v1.13c TXT.
Compatible with Diablo II v1.13d.
This set of TXTs will not be perfectly compatible with D2 1.10x - 1.12x.

1.13 txt files that i downloaded from the file center has a simple minor firebolt missile prob.

the trans column is not set to 1, the missile is not transparent...

i found it out when i was trying to play with missiles....

*i never messed with firebolt in the first place so i didn't know where the trans value went...

Um, I noticed a few problems or unnecessary adds. For example:

The *EOL (End of File) isn't necessary, just a reference for Blizzard's Diablo II staff. Anything with an asterisk (*) is for reference, the same goes for *runes in Runes.txt and *comments. Not really a fix. I'm guessing it's there to prevent memory leaks or data overflow for compiling. The game itsself shouldn't be able to read the data or recognize it's there though.

Not a bad idea for the Circlet. It is a bit questionable why they added 4 special headgears, but I'm sure there's a reason. Probably because of sets :)

For the Weapons.txt. The code "fla" isn't the itemcode, it's the base code for the itemtype. The base itemcode for "fla" is the Flail, which the quest items are recognized as. Doing this doesn't matter much unless you're working with mods. What would be worse would be to change the Khalim flails' code to "fla".

HOWEVER:

Good find on the "staff" in MagicPrefix.txt. There's no "staff" in ItemTypes.txt. That's a fail for Blizzard, haha.

The EOL is necessary for a few files (like Gems.txt, without that column there, shields can't gain 3 mods from gems...), because if you put anything other than 0 in them, game will crash.
Although done for our needs, mod-makers should like these changes, too.

Ah. Well for the files that do have the EOL, it's necessary. I haven't noticed a different with it on every file throughout a few day period.

Just wanted to say thanks.

I'm working on my own mod (mainly for personal use and for friends), and you saved me a lot of time.

Only one error I could find in fixed 1.13c TXT files is:

Armor.txt

For circlets The columns should read

Code: Select all

normcode	ubercode	ultracode
ci0	ci2	ci3
not

Code: Select all

normcode	ubercode	ultracode
ci0
if you try to upgrade a circlet using this armor.txt you get a hand axe.

Because ci0 is the circulet, ci1 is the coronet (both of those are normal armor), ci2 is the tiara (which is the exceptional version), and ci3 is the daidem (which is the elite verion).

Another small fix in TCEX

Code: Select all

Griswold (N) -3 0	Act 1 (H) Uitem C
....
Smith (N) -3 0	Act 1 (H) Uitem C
should be

Code: Select all

Griswold (N) -3 0	Act 1 (N) Uitem C
....
Smith (N) -3 0	Act 1 (N) Uitem C
credits to FearedBliss for that.

I noticed the same errors are in TreasureClass.txt as well.

Sorry for resurrecting decade old thread, I just came back to this forum after quitting D2 modding for 10 years, been forgetting a lot of things.

Thanks for pointing this out!
ci0 ci2 ci3 was the original code, Nefarious removed ci2 and ci3 cuz Circlet should have no exceptional and elite versions(coronet -> tiara -> diadem is the correct one), but this introduces the circlet upgrading to hand axe bug. Maybe we should put ci0 ci0 ci0 instead? Then what happens when you cube upgrade a circlet? Does the cube command go through / item change at all?

Regarding the flail item code thing as mentioned by Sheer_Cold, I'm not sure what should be changed.

Small update to the Fixed 113c txt to include the two fixes mentioned by devurandom:
circlet upgrading to hand axe bug
griswold's nightmare TCEX

Question: what is currently the most popular D2 version to mod on?

Smith has the same problem as Griswold had.

Mostly people mod on 1.10f and 1.13c/1.13d

Good catch, updated.
I take a guess, are 1.13c and 1.13d .txt files exactly the same?

Hi Dracula, "Jade Ring" cube recipe description mentions "emerald" while recipe requires "gpg" which is a "perfect emerald".
HarvestWombs said it's present in vanilla cubemain too, not sure if you're looking to fix stuff like this...

I think the cube recipe is fine, as mentioned here, it's a perfect Emerald:

They mean specifically this description in the text file.

Code: Select all

1 ring + 1 emerald + 1 antidote potions -> jade ring
IMO it's not a big deal.
