Undocumented cube recipes

As Kato states in the mod guide, there are 56,000+ cube recipes in the mod. The guide has a fraction of these recipes, so here's your chance to add to it! This will take a while to compile, so everyone who has the mod can contribute. When one of us has a chance, a link will be put up in the wiki to what I hope will be a long thread.

Let the documentation commence!

Here's one:

3 chipped gems+2 flawed gems=1 standard gem (may work with all gems).

Tested with Amethyst and Skull

Thought Lazy Cat recipes were documented somewhere. Also remember that Cube scrolls have got to eat up a few hundred/thousand recipes with how many there are.

Im no modder and its been years since ive delved into the cube recipe txt, but does each type of combo (like same rune x3 -> next rune higher) have their own recipe line or is there a blanket item code to cut down on whats needed?

Not all Lazy Cat Recipes are documented. If you have the guide, which is a must for this project, check it before submitting the recipe. I checked the guide and that recipe is not in there.

Album poster reroll:

Minor Poster + 1 Full 1K collector + any food item => rerolled minor/album poster with poo stats

(Keep rerolling until you get a poo Album poster)

Poo Album Poster + key => Thumbnailed poo Album poster

Thumbnailed poo Album poster + Stamina potion => Album poster with good stats.

I don't think this is documented anywhere in the guide but if it is please let me know.

If you are asking about the recipes I posted above then:

Recipe 1: Minor Poster + 1 Full 1K collector + any food item => rerolled minor/album poster with poo stats (output is either another minor poster with low stats or an album poster with low stats, hence, rinse and repeat for an album poster). 1 recipe line but may need to be repeated :roll:

Recipe 2 (after obtaining a low stat Album poster):

Low stat Album Poster + key => Thumbnailed Album poster (low stats). 1 recipe line :roll: :roll:

Recipe 3 (after obtaining a Thumbnailed Album poster) Thumbnailed Album Poster + Stamina Potion => Full sized Album Poster with random (but decent) stats. 1 recipe line. :roll: :roll: :roll:

Or is it say something like

Zy-El's cubemain.txt is somewhere around 57,000 lines (on a guess). Each recipe has it's own line. I think the max is 65,536 (2^32). It would help if onyx or even Kato would answer this question. From my limited modding experience with 1.10, I'm pretty sure that my previous statement is true. However, it has been a while.

Ah, I am with you now.

Sadly it is the first of those. 1 line in cubemain.txt is required for each outcome. That's why Kato stopped working on Treasure Card recipes, there was not enough room left 8-O ...but see below as it is not the game code that causes the limitation....

If the limit isn't 2^16 (65535) or 2^15 (32767) then the next logical limits are 2^20 (1048575) or 2^19 (524287) or 2^24 (16777215) or 2^23 (8388607) or 2^32 (4294967295) or 2^31 (2147483647) - as there is no "forced" limit in code that I know of.
"No known forced limit in code" suggests to me you are only limited by the Editor you use.

Maybe I'm wrong but Kato wrote that there're no any undocumented recipes. However I think he could forget to document some of them.

The recipes d2vern mentioned are the variety of Lazy cat recipes for runes. They work for all gem types. I often use them at the beginning.

Album poster reroll recipe Al-T mentioned is in table Collector costs:
Row "Minor Celeb Poster | 200 | Min Celeb Post | 1,000 "
It means if you cube <Min Celeb Post> (or Album poster which is similar to minor poster) with <1K collector> and <food> (food is necessary for all collectors recipes) you get new Min Celeb Post. Transformation recipes are described in CELEBRITY TRANSFORMATION RECIPES section.

I've looked the cubemain.bin and able to tell you how many recipes there. Total : 1,263,268 recipes.

Hmmm curious... Means there's going to be a limit based on memory. Programming-wise it makes sense to sort the cube's contents, then use that as a key for a lookup-table (Hashed map probably), or a binary tree.

If there is indeed no limit, wouldn't Kato divide his recipes into groups of related items and then use a script to combine/append to the final product? If that is the case then he can likely keep adding as many recipes as he wants. On the other hand some recipes would be better if they were just generated by a small program/script, like rune & treasure card upgrades; I could make those if need be, it's just brute force afterall...

Hardware-wise although the memory is 32bit memory based, that just means each segment could be 32bits while I think I read the CPU is 40bit address spaced; Likely it using the original segment modifiers (16bit architecture) as ID's so it could give each portion a 32bit address space, that means the recipes could theoretically have it's own slot if they thought it could ever get that big. (Mind you this is off memory/guessing).

Maybe make a dummy recipe file and just see how many millions can be added (say 1 key, 2 key, 3 key, etc). Might be worth giving a try. I'd like to see this mod extend further, and get even better :)

Makes me wonder too if the player multiplier can go a few levels higher for early sections, say ^2 so 256, 512, 1024, etc (If not, built in limitation to 1 byte... after-all won't ever be more than 16 at once right?)
