Edit: it's going slow atm aswell. hopefully I have a mirror up later today.
Edit2: first mirror with DA preview (include music) package is up. The mirror site should be able to handle the traffic better.

Major kudos for you and your team on reaching this stage. I know you have been working a long time to get here, in the face of many real-life hurdles.
Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.

I can see what you see not, vision milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind, cast down into the Halls of the Blind.

Re: Dark Alliance preview version released
Install it where you have your normal diablo installation. Dark Alliance doesn't require a specific path (more than be a subdir to diablo).Shakewell28";p="390710" wrote:where should i tell it to install? it comes up for D: drive for me but I want to to install under C:

Re: Dark Alliance preview version released
I've had my eyes on this project for quite a while and was quite amazed with the changes I saw here. Looks like this mod will be big d2 modding news once it's completed (until "Codename: Metalstorm" is released, which could rival this mod in revolutionary features). I'll give this preview release a go and see the future of d2 modding for myself.
EDIT: Did I say this will rival "Codename: Metalstorm"? Actually, "Codename: Metalstorm" will likely top everything else, but that's certainly not meant as discouragement for you, Kingpin (you just gave us a PLAYABLE preview of possible features to be found in Metalstorm, never before seen anywhere else. That, I feel, is praiseworthy. )

As I haven't coded the actual setup itself. It wouldn't be possible to do a check where d2 is installed.Aggrocorni";p="390723" wrote:it doesn't even need to be in the d2 directory, I just think the default path isen't wisely choosen but could be based on the registry value for the d2 installation and not on how kp's setup for apps/games is working
I'm using Inno Setup Compiler to compile the install package. As you can change your path yourself I think what the default path is doesn't matter that much
If I get around someday to code my own installer. Use d2 install path is very possible to do.

Haven't left the camp yet, but have noticed a bit of bad grammar in some of the text. (Which doesn't detract from how cool it seems) What's the best way to report these? I'm not going to remember everything word for word when reporting them, which isn't going to be easy for you to fix.
edit: Just noticed the other topic(s). Don't worry about this query.

Re: Dark Alliance preview version released
First of all I want to congratulate you with release of this awesome mod preview! Keep the good work, dudes!
I have played a bit and I want to post one screenshot. It is not my screen and it is not a bug, but it looks very weird. I think that you could want to fix such strange... problems.

You talking about the chest armor?
Most thing's work fine in MP. Subquests is supposed to be for the player who have the quest. So, it can obvious cause some problems to complete it in MP.Giaour";p="391211" wrote:Awesome job ... any word on multiplayer ... Clendara (sp?) is a mean mother with a sorc ...
Players X command is disabled. So, even if you set more than one player it will always end up with 1.
There is for sure more bugs in MP compare to Sp. As MP have been less tested as we focused on get SP right before work on MP.
Re: Dark Alliance preview version released
Have updated the topic with new links. Finally I no longer need to use my slow server and instead can use my usual DA site download instead. This means alot faster downloads
Re: Dark Alliance preview version released
So many new features! Many thanks for your persistent work!
A question: game with music = game without music + music addon? I think so, but music addon is 40MB, and the two game release have only 16MB difference between them, so comes the above question.

Re: Dark Alliance preview version released
The compression becomes better in the big package of some reason. Got abit surprised myself with the little differenceArcher81";p="400075" wrote:So many new features! Many thanks for your persistent work!

EDIT 21-dec -09
Updated the non working links.
EDIT 2012-09-12
Uploaded the preview version files to a new server. so now all downloads should work again, otherwise let me know and I look into it.
