Re: [Character] - The Beastmaster
Again :
-> Beastmaster is a melee player oriented toward minion
-> Stampede is a large AoE ranged skills
-> SO : giving stampede to the Beastmaster eqauls to make all ppl
drop down any other skills and make ONLY BM based on stampede.
'Nuff Said.

[Character] - Caelmara
Caelmara are women of deeds. Born in the High Elves' forets country, they were trained to become the 'Champion of the Sun' (aka Caelmara), holy elvish warrior dedicated to fight against evil. For centuries, there were one or two Caelmara over the whole realm, preventing evil to grow rampant or to slay it where it dare to show. After the destruction of the Oblivion Stone by the Druid of Morgoth, the Caelmara duty get harder. The large number of abominations that fleed from the Fringe and invaded the nearby lands. Suddenly, the number of Caelmara raised to a very large amount, turning this somewhat discrete ordr into a true war force.
Caelmara are half mage, half warrior elvish woman. They master melee and ranged attacks and spice them up with magic spells inscribed on their wirst or ankles tatoos. Another parts of their powers lies in their alchemy knowledge. Blessed by the Sun Goddess*, they are able to craft various magical stone, the Sunstones, that bear of the attribute of elvish deities.

COMBAT SKILLS
BARRAGE

CONQUEST
:melee attack that gives you a few frames of immunity to everything while swinging. Starts at 5 frames, +1 frame per skill level.
GUIDING LIGHT
:fires a hunting arrow that chases down multiple nearby enemies. Every 5 skill points you get another arrow [hunting multishot], and the AR also goes up with skill points.
INNER FIRE
:self-buff that gives you elemental damage reduction, but also decreases your physical damage reduction, the opposite of the Shadowpriest's and Templar's etherealize effect.
ELVEN WINGS
:a charge attack at 50% of your normal run speed. Adds a gosu amount of enhanced damage to compensate.
SUNDANCE
:fires a lot of arrows in random directions. Fires one arrow every 3 frames. Duration starts at 12 frames, plus 3 frames per skill level.
SUNSPEAR
:fires a train of piercing arrows in a straight line at the target. Starts at 4 arrows, +1 per skill level.
RICOCHET

LIGHTFLOOD
:a melee attack that emits a narrow wave of light that inflicts your normal attack damage to multiple enemies. Added points increase range of the wave.
PHALANX
:similar to Stampede, causes arrows to go across the screen and inflict your normal attack damage on enemies in their path, but does not pierce. Fires one arrow per 3 frames, starts at 30 frames, up by 6 frames per skill level.
OFFENSIVE SUNSTONES
_these [passive] skills enable cube recipes that generate charm-like objects that go in your inventory and add a chance to cast skill bonus to your attacks, or occasionally something else. You can give sunstones to other party members as well. You can only have ONE sunstone of each type in your inventory, so a max of 20 sunstones.
SUNSTONE:BLAST
:gives a 25+2*slvl% chance to cast a small fireball explosion on striking, inflicting fire damage in a radius. Not much fire damage, but hey level 1 skill.
SUNSTONE:NEMESIS
:gives a 25+2*slvl% chance to cast a poison cloud on the target on striking, inflicting poison damage [no really?]. Low level, low damage skill.

SUNSTONE:CASCADE
:gives a 20+2*slvl% chance to fire an arrow from the character to the target on striking. At high levels, this can trigger several times in a row, because the arrow hit also sets off hit-skills. Woot.
SUNSTONE:PHOENIX
:gives a 15+slvl% chance to cast a 'hunting phoenix' on striking, chasing down nearby enemies before exploding with a fiery blast that sets the ground on fire.
SUNSTONE:SUNFIRE
:gives a 20+2*slvl% chance to cast a curse on the target, which greatly decreases its attack rating but increases its damage. Does not stack with the other two curses.
SUNSTONE:CHANT OF TONGUES
:gives a 5+slvl% chance to cast a self-buff on striking. The buff lasts for 2 seconds and increases your elemental skill damage by 100%. Does not stack with other Chant sunstones.
SUNSTONE:WIZBANG
:gives a 15+slvl% chance to cast a meteor on striking. The meteor does not do as much damage as the sorceress skill, but with a large area effect arrow skill or Lightflood and a fast attack speed you can spam out multiple meteors per second.
SUNSTONE:CYCLE OF LIFE
:gives a 20+2*slvl% chance to cast a curse on the target, which greatly decreases its red-dmg% but also increases its regeneration rate. There's always something. Does not stack with the other two curses.
DEFENSIVE SUNSTONES
SUNSTONE:ETHER SHIELD
:gives a 40+3*slvl% chance to turn ethereal when struck, which greatly increases your damage reduction but decreases your elemental damage reduction for 25 frames.
SUNSTONE:SUNWELL
:a stat boosting sunstone that gives 5+2*slvl% bonus to all attributes. At level 20, this gives a nice 43% bonus.

SUNSTONE:SPIKE SHIELD
:gives a 10+slvl% chance to emit a spike nova when struck, inflicting 50% of your normal attack damage to all surrounding enemies. And if you are lucky, the hit-skill sunstones in your inventory go off as well when the spike nova hits and they get a couple of meteors on their head too.
SUNSTONE:CHANT OF SERENITY
:gives a 5+slvl% chance to cast a self-buff when struck. The buff lasts for 2 seconds and greatly increases your red-dmg%. Does not stack with other Chant sunstones.

SUNSTONE:HEROISM
:the only sunstone skill that generates a 'random' sunstone, this makes a sunstone with +to a random skill from another class on it. Passives and skills that can't be used [such as the beastmaster's dual wield skills] are excluded. The skill level of the oskill starts at 1, +1 per two skill levels in Heroism. You can for example generate a sunstone with +to Stampede on it, and give it to the beastmaster - happy now?

Re: [Character] - The Beastmaster
Stampede worked for the beastmaster in Warcraft 3 because there are no spells in Warcraft 3 that are based on weapon damage, even stuff that should be, such as Bladestorm.
The beastmaster in SE is a *combat character* with no non-physical skills [did anyone even notice that?] and no direct damage skills not based on weapon damage. Stampede is not based on weapon damage and it makes no sense to have it be based on weapon damage. Thusly, no Stampede for the beastmaster.

Re: [Character] - High Elf
I'm really happy with the sunstones idea, its awesome! congrats to all the modding team for bringing here that wonderful theme (elven artisans )
for the Combat tree... too much arrow skills lets see...
Barrage, Guiding light, Sundance, sunspear, Ricochet and Phalanx --->
6 arrow attacks
Conquest, Lightflood, Elven wings ---> only three melee skills?
Inner fire ---> Buff skill
That makes this character a Ranged character type, the melee attacks are good and the inner fire is a nice idea, now my point of view on the range skills.
Barrage ---> Multiple hits
Guiding light ---> Multiple hits
Sundance ---> Multiple hits
Sunspear ---> Posible multiple hits, but the name sounds more like a spear skill not an arrow based one
Ricochet ---> Multiple hits
Phalanx ---> Multiple hits
At first glace looks like a lot of AoE skills on the same character, where are the "Only one shot" skill for Ranger builds? (like old fire arrow) because all the above skills shoots more than one arrow.
Elvens are supposed to be awesome archers (LOTR movies as example) so I ask if its possible to give him an arrow based attack that deals more damage based on the distance of the target (aka double damage if the target is off screen as example) thus his damage is near 0% on melee range =P
Guiding light its an awesome skill cheers for it
the other two threes are awesome and see nothing wrong with them (except the chance to cast are HUGE with all the above arrow skill that affect multiple enemies)
look at the % to cast the skill, if you shoot two arrows the chance to get the effect is doubled (and increase with every arrow you add on each attack) giving the archer build more ¿advantage? than his counterpart melee one.
only to inform you about that fact, the arrow skills are well defined and had variate effects that can allow multiple builds (like the paladin ones)
but I had the sense of looking a multishot/lightning fury/chain lightning/nova/frozen orb skill tree =/ (hmm maybe im to biased over the templar character )

Actually, it is an arrow skill. It's just a fancy name and I took it from UT2004.Vendanna" wrote:Sunspear ---> Posible multiple hits, but the name sounds more like a spear skill not an arrow based one
That's because I did the high elf and Joel did the ranger. We just have different opinions about skills.Vendanna" wrote:At first glace looks like a lot of AoE skills on the same character, where are the "Only one shot" skill for Ranger builds? Yes, if you make a chain of MoltenBoulderEmerges and can live with it piercing 100% which is silly and metagamey.Vendanna" wrote:Elvens are supposed to be awesome archers (LOTR movies as example) so I ask if its possible to give him an arrow based attack that deals more damage based on the distance of the target (aka double damage if the target is off screen as example) thus his damage is near 0% on melee range =P
Naah, Lightflood is a major AoE spell, and the meleelf actually has a big advantage over the rangelf when it comes to spamming sunstone effects on single targets: the Sunstone:Cascade skill. It shoots arrows at targets you hit, whether it is a melee attack that sets it off or a ranged attack. And the closer the target is to you [ie. in melee range], the sooner the arrow gets there, and has about one in two chance to set off another arrow. And another one. And another one. And the closer they are, the faster it goes.Vendanna" wrote:look at the % to cast the skill, if you shoot two arrows the chance to get the effect is doubled (and increase with every arrow you add on each attack) giving the archer build more ¿advantage? than his counterpart melee one.
Cue sound of 15 meteors falling down simultaneously.

then all is clear :pBrother Laz";p="164818" wrote:Actually, it is an arrow skill. It's just a fancy name and I took it from UT2004.
as you said the ranger depends on the person doing the skills, and maybe I'm more biased to one shot wonders because I played about fite to seven Inconditional Paladin Rangers (abusing the Vigor aura to run fast)Brother Laz" wrote:That's because I did the high elf and Joel did the ranger. well its only a minor drawback... j/k :p in that case better not, prefer to see different builds at the same power level than cookiecutters all the way =/Brother Laz" wrote:Yes, if you make a chain of MoltenBoulderEmerges and can live with it piercing 100% which is silly and metagamey.
time will tell us this, I remember on Xyrax Nefarius nerfed the Amazon but was still more powerful than the necro on the tests =/Brother Laz" wrote:Naah, Lightflood is a major AoE spell, and the meleelf actually has a big advantage over the rangelf when it comes to spamming sunstone effects on single targets: the Sunstone:Cascade skill. well the perfect balance is hard to reach, and also variates about the person tastes (not the same balance for a PvM oriented character that goes to PvP for fun)Brother Laz" wrote:'Everything can be balanced, if only by making it suck'. The Twister Mantra.
hmm... possible to add a flare arrow? (arrow that get slower until it stops and then explodes to iluminate& blind enemies?) but seems a bit offtheme =[
lastly, thanks for working on the mod this way the fans shall be satisficed?

Lim(time -> infinite) = perfect balance
I suggest playing SE over DVR open bnet once a release is out. This mod should rule in Multi like none before.

The Star Fall looks great! its a beauty to see pesky fetished die too (style points for the screenshot)
there is a Shooting star in some part? (maybe a %chance to get a shooting star between those nice falling ones)
a thing that makes me scratch my head, from where you got the Fayling name? Oo

Just a quick note they are not fetishes
Sometimes we win with greater firepower, through sheer numbers or more powerful weapons, but for the most part it is knowledge that defines our victories. Know something and it has lost its power over you.

Re: [Character] - The Vampyre
How does Necrosophy works ?
Necrosophy allows you to get Guts from corpse.
From this guts, you may extract some organs randomly
chosen from the following list :
Fang,Eye,Heart,Spleen,Brain.
Each organ can be retrieved in three state : damaged,normal or good.
The odds to get a specific organs in a given state is tied to the organ frequency (fang is common, brain is not) and Necrosophy skill level. Each guts comes in various flavor, represented by the Guts color. From best to worse, the flavor are :
black,purple,dark green,dark blue ,dark red ,orange,bright green,bright blue,bright yellow,white
You can transmute guts of the same flavor to produce one higher or one lower :
2 x Guts of same flavor => 1 x Guts of higher flavor.
2 x Guts of same flavor + 1 x Healing Potion => 1 x Guts of lower flavor.
Once you're done with your guts, you can try to extract an organ from it.
While doing this, take care that the guts quality AND Necrosophy skill level are taken into account. The best guts flavor and the higher Necrosophy skill level increase the odds of getting a better organ.
Guts => random organ
one drawback is that, combining good guts and high level necrosophy will end in a lack of low level organs. To counterbalance that, you can deteriorate an organ by mixing it with guts.
Guts + any organ => organ of one grade lower.
So what to do with Organs ? Well, we'll see later that organs are used to customize vampyre specific items.
Necrosophy allows you to get Guts from corpse.
From this guts, you may extract some organs randomly
chosen from the following list :
Fang,Eye,Heart,Spleen,Brain.

Re: [Character] - The Vampyre
Congratulations Joel, I've read the full post and everyone's expecting you to release your new mod
I hope I have time soon to make mine... I'm adding quite few things, little ideas, but this idea ROCKS !!!
Have you thought about adding some skills of some disciplines of Vampire The Masquerade?
Like Obtenebration (Those Shadow Tentacles like Baal's tentacles) or Valeren Level 5 (Flamming Agravated Sword or something like that)
Just something I was wondering
As i have said, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THI CHARACTER IN ACTION !!!
(I hope I learn how to create new skills and new states soon, 'casuse I have a lot of ideas; but I don't know how to do them...)

I would say "insane", which is the highest level of genius, and a compliment in many circles.

Re: [Character] - The Vampyre
Definately a cool idea! How does it work?So what to do with Organs ? Well, we'll see later that organs are used to customize vampyre specific items.
Do you cube the organs with the weapon? socket them (that'd be weird)? Or use them like an enchant-type limited duration spell?
Well however way it works I hope there is a limit to customization so the vamp weapons don't get too powerful.
Happiness is a beltfed weapon

Re: [Character] - The Vampyre
Basically, there is no class specific items per se.
You have to craft them from a limited set of basic items.
Thus giving players a large and customizable way to get a nice
specific items. No more whining because this sword is really nice but doesn't have any good stuff for your class.
I'll reveal later these recipes, but for the Vampire case, there is small variations including organs as reagents that adds bonus to the item that are a little different than plain +skill.
As for the power level, each of this recipes are doable only a few times, up to a given amount of bonus (roughly 7-9 times max.)

Re: [Character] - Shadow Priest
Hmmm, I suppose that means the highest level shadowpriest set makes you look like the lowest level 1 SP minions? It's back to rust_state, I guess
......
Me wonders how the Slayer would look in that color scheme. [hint: pic pic ]
