I'm going to share my opinion of my vote in there.

I voted for the new features added, while I'm participating on a Total conversion style mod, I known that those take a LONG time to be playable by the community, and even if it will be enjoyable to play when released, if all others did Total Conversions, there wouldn't have been a ton of mods to test and play in the meantime.

I didn't voted balance patch, because even if the idea is right per se, I think that most modmakers have that aspect already covered on their project (trying to balance it).

Drop mods while enjoyable to find finally the items you were supposed to find on a fair world (not blizzard) are esentially the same game, they just try to minimize the grind aspect of the game.

So, after X years playing an old game, what is what players expect to find? Some changes that call their attention about the "new rules" on the game, that it tells the difference from the old game they already known better than the palm of his hand (long time forgotten since its always over the mouse)

So, changing monsters missiles, items buyable, skills (especially in the start) will make players whonder what had changed and make them curious enough to see what your mod can offer them.

That's my opinion. Have a nice day!

I'm voting for Total Conversion.

I love new Features in D2, but when they're too much this is mostly like a total Conversion.

A few of my Favourite mods are:
Kingdom of Tenai;Median 2008 (Not MXL);Back to Hellfire;Horde of Chaos; ;)

Balance is also an important part of every mod I thing...Without balance you'll be unable to kill a single monster in act, or you'll be able to kill hell baal in a second.

I understand that Total Conversions might take a very long time to create. But I feel that what you get out is proportional to the amount the modmakers put in, and that's why Total Conversions are the best.

While I think total conversions can be a new interesting experience, I like new features better--because I like to stay as legit as possible, but adding new features (such as socketed boots) i think is semi-legit; It creates new char buils, item demands, etc..

As for the drop mod... drop mods aren't bad, but they take the point out of the game. You might as well just give yourself the items in UdieToo than use a drop mod. (unless, the drop mod reduces the zod chance from 1:infinity to 1:possible ;))

Edit: i can agree with you guys about total conversion: they take a long time. Just doing a simple "new feature" mod that i'm working on, has taken about 2 weeks, and it isn't finished yet. All this mod adds is things like socketed boots, unused amulet/ring graphic enabled, and other legit  stuff!

I votede total conversion...
Why?
Because I really enjoy the why people change Diablo 2 into their own world.
New areas, new skilltrees, new sidequests, new monsters and so on.
Ofc. I enjoy the new featuers mods but when adding enough to the game I like when they go all the way and do it in total.
I myself is starting to learn to mod and I even have a complete new story written for a complete new Diablo 2 world and storyline.
(I might even hire voiceactors!)

My favorit mod has to be MedianXLOmega - Playede it over and over with my friends. =)

I voted for Total Conversion.
Truth of the matter is I want to see new skills, Items, Models and Tiles. The reason?...My favorite mods all fall in this category. Is this a total conversion not really, but new features what does that mean? I want all of the above not just one or two. Heck one or two are the mods I make that never see the light of day past a very select few pc's. Mods that truely draw me in (cough cough BTH) have to have a big change considering I've been playing D2 since the week it came out. 2 Wives and about 6 dogs later I'm still playing thanks to people like Onyx and Seltsamuel.
Should we do what we're good at or get good at what we do?

In your case, I would argue with that ...

I vote for total conversion, I prefer progress.

Voted for "New features added". Totally agree, Nezeramontias is the best!
I was born on May 23, so my zodiac sign is Gemini. I didn't know that the May 23 zodiac has so many positive features, I was surprised.
