Can you give the minions aura buffing a stat on the player which controls the max pets? If you`re able to do the correct formula (something like [40-1*PetStat], if you want to cap them at 20) u can do this?
This is just a hint, anyway I`ve not tried to do this, but I would if there`s a way.

As I`ve read your previous post as well, I presume you have messed up Skills.txt, check for duplicate names or wrong IDs.

Browsing the forums, found out that game ends with unhandled exception when provided bloodmana state as item property. But, provided from skill (being a buff, or curse), it runs well. As I assume, that the best solution in your case is to have all you want.
I`d suggest you to install a clean copy of Diablo II, and then install D2SE, as it comes with PlugY.
You don`t need to install PlugY, before or after installing D2SE.

Yes, it`s "eth", you can check all properties` codes in properties.txt . And I`m not really sure if you were talking about Crown of Ages, but combining Self Repair with Indestructible, is not going to change something as the item will still be Indestructible. All you can do is replace the code there...
