In general, shadow master is the best AI for a summon there is. Ogodei has created shadow master AI mini guide IIRC.

Your problem is caused by MonUMin and MonUMax fields in levels.txt. Set them both to 0, for all difficulties.

Definitely not, if you couldn't find an answer via search engine and the last topic of similar case is 16 years old, then it's absolutely good idea to create new one instead of frankensteinizing something. That looks like wrong cof file, because as far as I remember, the portals are part of the goblins animation. Are you sure you have copied/implemented everything correctly?

Copy might aura and paste it at the bottom of the file. Change name (skill field) to mercnohealaura, the ID field for proper number, then clear the following fields (leave them blank): charclass skilldesc auratargetstate param1 and param2 (not required but you will clear these for 'cosmetic' purpose...

In vanilla yes, I think so, iirc only act bosses. For clarification, you can set this field to be 'true' for anything in monstats.

Any txt field that gets referenced is limited to 32 chars. It isn't going to give you an error though. As long as first 32 chars are unique, other ones will get ignored. Nice info for 1.13c users, however, the plugin uses ghost monsters as an alternative to ce, because it's means to be fully compatible with any game version without any ce issues ;)
