1.13...

Post by TrueMage » Thu Mar 05, 2009 8:37 am

"We’re in the process of working on Diablo II content patch 1.13, and we want to try to include the Diablo community’s most important changes in our production schedule. To achieve this we’re asking for your input on what you’d like to see in this patch. However, we’re making it a bit stricter than a full-blown wish list.

If you were to get an advance look at the patch notes for Diablo II 1.13, what is the one patch note you would want to see?

Our goal is to get an overall sense of the single most important request from every member of the community. We want as many posts as we can get for the largest cross section, so if you have friends who used to play Diablo II or just don’t frequent the forums as much as you do, let them know this is here so we can get their “#1 patch note” too.

Please be mindful that we’re not going to be able to make every change mentioned, but hopefully with your feedback we can prioritize and do our best to cover as much as possible."

...here...

This will either be the best patch ever, or the worst ever, and knowing blizz i expect a BIG disappointment...

Every new patch adds a number of new bugs. But, thats normal in a developement cycle.

I personally think patch could have great potentional. This, all matters on how large and how much people they put on it. If it's a one man's work again like then Isolde did 1.10. Then you can't have to big expectations. Now, Isolde made the big patch for us modders. With so many parts of the engine softcoded :)

the word development is totally out, i'm mean all they did was remove securerom and the cd checks, so how do you end up adding bugs????

if anything does get added i doubt it will be modder friendly(how many new blizz employees have posted since peter? :P, and right now the top 3 requests look like so
  • Blizzard Sponsored Map Hack(yes, seriously)
  • Rip off of PlugY's stash
  • New Resolution Mode(hires or widescreen support)

I would love to see classic be revived maybe playable like in the .09 days where things where a lot more balanced in classic.

And personally I think seeming D2 is a dying/dead game they should merge the ladder + non ladder into one thing again like 09 to force everybody to be together rather than having multiple places to play:

Classic ladder
Classic non-ladder
Hardcore Classic ladder
Hardcore Classic non-ladder
LOD ladder
LOD non-ladder
Hardcore LOD ladder
Hardcore LOD non-ladder

Can people see why they thing the game is dead?!

Game is getting old. What keep people come back all time is games that is continued updated/changed. It still comes out patches for as example Starcraft and we all know it's the national sport in Korea :)

I want a full-length, complete Act 4. 3 more quests, a number of more levels, mercenaries and so on. Of course, I'm aware this will never happen.

And it should be softcoded ...
and softcode the existing quests as well ;-)

Oh ... and while they are at it ...
Build it with VC6, without register call optimization WITH asserts included again AND revert exports to 1.10 ordinals :P

Pack it with Themida for the sake of challenge.

But jokes asside, make classic mode really play like classic and not a crippled lod and fix the bugs properly.

Content-wise, a full act 4 would be nice.
As well if they implement socketed, magic, rare, set, crafted items on the game. These features have been removed for a long time :p

Not on classic ^^

E.g
3 Socket Helm (MFER)
Magic War Scepter (Hdin)
Rares - Major in classic
Set - Angelics for barb
Crafted?? never heard of them! ;)

The main thing I'd like to see is more content for early or mid game. Until level 18 or so, just about all attack skills are "projectile that moves in a straight line" or "normal attack with something extra tacked on." This is why people rush, and why people want respecs: Early game is boring after the first few plays. For the love of god, I hope they don't tack on another set of ubers. Make the whole game more entertaining, and maybe people will do something other than baal runs and uber trist.

Are we going to come up with a list of bugs fixing like:
the 27 states bug
the ethereal bug
the Spirit of Barbs bug
the ice catapult missile bug
the ctc bug
...

And, is it very tough for BLZ extending states.txt :?:

how about loads more types of shrine, like in D1- i miss the interesting variety.

or when you go to a shop, tabs appear at the bottom of your inventory to switch between cube/stash/inventory to save dumping your cube to get stuff out quickly, or making loads of stash box trips when clearing it out.

I know Blizzard can't do too much in a patch, short of rewriting the code, so I will only mention 4 things I'd like to see in the patch:
• The stash is too small, BUT increase it like so - it should grow by a row or column when your character hits Level 25, and again at 50 & 75 (every 10 levels will water down the challenge).

• Can the resolution be increased above 800x600 - at least to 1024x768?

• Characters should be allowed to wear more rings (and amulets?) as they grow - add one more ring-allowance at Level 25, another at 50, and maybe a second amulet at 75. I mean, the characters are humans, so they have 8 fingers & 2 thumbs.

• High Runes and Unique/Exceptional/Etc. weapons/armor/items rarely if ever drop, especially when you have to make runs through repeat areas just to level up (my Sorc. gets "spanked" by Diablo in Hell difficulty-level no matter what I try). The "sets" are a waste of time.

Diablo III is still about a year away - at the earliest. And D2 Patch 1.12 was what, 2 years ago? Fans need something significant to tide them over until D3 ships. However, I just don't want them to toss so much new stuff into the patch that it doesn't even feel like the same game anymore. And we can all admit that some of the D2 mods out there have gotten almost ridiculous in how much they've changed the game - a 4 page stash?!?!?

Patch 1.12 was not two years ago, not even 1 =P.

Those ideas are cool, but you shouldn't have to limit them to ten rings - after all, you can wear multiple on one finger, same with amulets.
Although done for our needs, mod-makers should like these changes, too.

Adding more rings (or itemslots) means either each ring slot need be weaker or mobs need be higher. I'm not sure if that would be right way. I would however like to see trinket slots (that would be your ring 3/4).
