ok, it works fine, but I seem to be a bit overpowered....

playing a necro, around lvl 20 or so, my skellies are killing machines, killing most things in one hit, while my golem is weak in comparison. On top of that, I dont think they will ever die now, found a skill charm with lvl 5 prayer on it (130 charges), but I dont need to use charges as it is an aura, I turn it on and bam, there it is! :) I do like what I have seen so far, but you may want to tone down the skellies damage a bit, 15 per level seems high for some reason unless things get harder as we go.

Yeah I might have to look into that (most playtesting was mid/high level)

I did play a Necro in tcp/ip testing with my bro, but I wasn't a skelemancer =)

Alittle tone down to 8 dmg per lv might be needed...

About the charges, yes you don't use em' just put use it like an aura. Next release I'll clean things like that up :)

:Edit:

:jump: Nice one with the version there Alkalund!

Some area warps aren't being connected to other areas in levels.txt, that will trigger this warning. If you get this in the dry hills, that's where the problem is in levels.txt.

Yes I did get a freeze in act 2 during testing I just pressed enter and it went, so I thought my PC was screwing with me  I did have ME at the time, I justy thought it was doing it's usual :)

Iam gonna have to dive into the .txt files and have a looksy.

And are your skeles still romping through?

Thanks for the good work Malachai29 you might be on the next read-me!

Skellies are slowly curving toward normal, cuz I keep putting points in other places besides skeleton mastery, I am gonna build up a golem also, see how they do. I like the blood golem so far! :) I may try the druid out and see how he fares, otherise, I dont really play any other char types...so wouldnt know if they needed tweeking or not. Will keep you posted, but I think my necro is on hold til the levels.txt is fixed for dry hills.

Malachai

EDIT: While I am going through playing, I think I will be on the lookout for other oddities like this....

Virgins Treasures set:

Found by my necro was the emerald ring, put it on, was given the partial set bonus for having the virgins soul, so all I need now is the diamond necklace to complete the set....thing is, I dont have the soul....just a heads up for ya! :)

BTW, blood raven dropped a set piece for me with my druid that I just started!!! :)

Edit2: Just found the guy on Jail level 2, laughed my arse off as he methodically killed my wolves one at a time, but I did beat him, kept bringing my wolves back and let them pound on him while my rogue shot him! :) to my surprise, I jumped 11 levels and got no treasure drop!!! I think I may have been too low of a level to beat on him...

My necro went from lvl 32 to lvl 60.....seems he gives more exp the higher lvl you are.....still no treasure...what can i say....I am greedy! :turnevil:

Did a second run with my necro and only got one level....there goes my theory! Playing a Trapassin now....druid and necro are both to act 2 and have beaten radament.

And after you process all that info, remind me I have a question about the Beryl Gems....

Well I will be giving the Skeles a nice drop in power, but they still should be a viable skill :)
The levels.txt file is fixed now, Iam pretty much ready for a revised version... if you keep pressing enter everytime it freezes you can excape the hills

Mmmm that would be the butcher??? Yes the jail is abt of a high level area, I'll probably make it harder to reach him and kill :) Oh and drop the exp :)

Whats with the Gems?

Thanks for the tips :)

I had a couple of them, and they add poison dam to weapons (+1), so I decided to transmute them with my wand. When I did so, I got +0 poison dam over 0 seconds. Did this a couple times, thinking, maybe it was adding a fraction, but to no avail...they do sell nicely though! :) I did notice they give +0 poison dam when added to armor and shields, but it does say +1 to weapons....maybe that is supposed to be when socketed, but the other gems add as they are supposed to when you transmute them with the weapon.

What kind of exp is butcher giving as of right now? he seems to give you enough exp to jump you four levels less than your current level. (28 levels given to a lvl 32 necro...cant remember exactly what lvl my druid was though).

Let me know when the new version is available so i can d/l it! :)

The Butcher gave 666,666 exp before... as a level 50 monster. But (this I must of forgot when making him), as a Superunique he gets x4 experience causing him to gain over 2 million exp (without level based losses).

In v1.0a he will give around 70-80,000 or 240,000 as a superunique.

To use the beryl gems you need to have poison damage in the item beforehand, you'll see they do something then :)

You mean to tell me that my lvl 15 or so druid beat up on a lvl 50 monster???? my guerilla warfare tactics must be better than I thought! What I dont understand is why my necro got more exp out of him then my druid did....

Oh, and does he now have a drop? he hasnt so far, but I have only fought him the twice.

thanks for the tip on the beryls, was just playing with them anyway, dont care for poison damage as it is....I like things that take instant effect, dont like to wait for something to die! :)

"What I dont understand is why my necro got more exp out of him then my druid did"

The amount of XP you get depends on many things. You said that your necro got more XP. This usually means that he was closer to lev 50 than your dru.

Your druid must have had some 1337 skills behind him :P

You know hes packing about (from my head) 70/90 damage per hit in normal! And with his level advantage he should be hitting you 100% of the time!

Or maybe the druid is overpowered...
Did you have the prayer charm on that character, I've weakened prayer so you don't become invinsible in normal using it...

No I don't think I've designated a drop for the Butcher in any difficulty, right now hes an experience shrine :)

Think for the next release I'll give him a drop and increase the difficulty of monsters around him. As well as anything else that crops up.

I havent changed the set ring, I know the problem and if I fix it your character will become unusuable so I'll hold back on it for a while...

I wouldnt say he has leet skillz, I just tend to carry alot of mana and recast my wolves as he kills them, he never even gets to touch me! :) I love guerilla warfare, hit and run tactics....if I run out of mana, I tp to akara and refill that way, recast all my wolves and ravens, refill again, jump back down and pound him into the ground!

You got the latest version Malachai?

Your necro can finally explore act 2!!! 8-O
Try out the Butcher now, he's got alittle more powerful to counter act such gorilla-tactics

I doubt a level 12 Barb could take him, only the ranged attackers get to "goriliaise" him :?
Theres hardly much that can be done to prevent such low level killing, by skilled means, by the way how long did he take on the first tries to kill him?

Druid balance ok then? (so far)

Keep me updated on thoughts, the bigger the thread gets maybe the bigger the attention it'll get! :fadein:

To be honest, not very long with my druid....and since my necro was higher, he was even faster in killing him!

You should try to kill the Butcher now, you'll notice it takes abit longer

Cold Skin, eh? It's a low level set and not much use for your Necro but the gloves are a wonderful item to get that elusive "cannot be frozen" . Although the Set bonuses are nice for your level so if you did complete it you probably would wear it :)

I've been taking an Ama around, shes level 17 and Iam gonna try the Butcher, hope I die...

If you make it to Hell and find some Necro set items you should be pleased, I tried to make Sets a viable idea. The Druid gets some real good ones too!

I choose my physician and my clergyman, thus indicating my sense of the quality of their work. By all means, also, choose your modmaker; that is the proper reward of the good modmaker, to be 'chosen.'

I think I used the base values from spin's dll offsets sheet which are;

90% Magic
9% Rare
0.75% Set
0.25% Unique

So around a 1/120 chance, which aint that bad :)

Heh Diablo being his usual Bad-Ass self :)

I guess your still about lv 60? The Butchers silly exp probably made act 2+3 a cakewalk, once you've got into Nightmare you'll probably be about the right level again.

But a fire golem in Diablo'sface, let the skeles do their thing whilst you whittle away with Bonespirits but I bet thats what you were doing anyway

Nothing buggy in acts 2/3/4? Thats a pretty good sign :)

Keep up the leveling, my Ama's still a poor level 17. I've been neglecting her

I had the fire golem beating on him, my skellies lasted only a couple fire rings....bad thing is, I am strictly a summoner....nothing else....no bone spirit or spear or anything.....I may have to invest! :)

I may try butcher again with my druid, but I have to agree that he makes things easy for a while after you beat him

I have a low level trapassin in the works too....but havent payed much attention to her.....I like my necro! :)

Malachai

EDIT: So, I have beaten Diablo, and I have set my sights on Baal. I made it through everything else, including Nihlathak and his corpse explosions, we kind of had a duel going where he was trying to CE while I was raising skellies so he couldnt CE! :) I get the throneroom and find the place altered, very nice...something different....I get up to the main room and find that I have 3 andariels to face, cake walk. Next pop out those twisted elephant lookin things, can never remember the name of them....you know who I mean. Man did they ever give me a run for my money....by now I have no more skellies, but I have my rogue and my fire golem. beat them, after countless recasting of fire golem, and find I have to beat some wraiths now....no worries....got some skellies before the CE from baal....next challenge.....Mephisto???? he was such a wuss the last time I seen him, but I think he has been working out or he has been taking steroids.....that was fun! I beat him into the ground, finally, and walk through the portal to the worldstone chamber....blood lords waiting on the other side, golem is taking two of em, I got one.....golem dies, one walks up to me and suddenly, I am dead. One hit kill. OUCH.

So, my synapsis(sp?) thus far is this:

Skill charms make things fairly easy early on....specially the prayer and fantacism (or might) charms....reduction of frequency of drop maybe???

I would personally, if possible, increase frequency of low levl set and unique, but I am not sure if this is possible without increasing the frequency of all sets and uniques.

Necro skellies are a great help early on, but later on, they help, but die real easy!

Druid summons dont seem as strong as necro, but in the early times, they help quite a bit

I am gonna try a barb and see how I do without summons

I love Baals minions....that was a fun fight, and I still gotta do it again!

melding gems....I am still unsure of these, cuz they seem to drop quite a bit, can be stacked upon one another by transmutation, and can make some Uber items real early on cuz of the rate of drop. I personally have only used a few of them and now just cash them in for 25K in act V....seems more worth it to me at the moment.

+skill on pgems....love it! my necro has armor with +2 druid skills.....I like magic find, what can I say!

Thats all for now....may post more later....gonna continue playin, I really like this mod!

Sorry to hear about the one-hit kill :( how much life did you have?

Skill charms, I will Reduce their drop abit, especially the drop rate from Blood Raven. (If you kill her they happens to be a large chance of one dropping)

Low level set and uniques can be made to drop easier, I just have to increase that Acts chances in Treasureclassesex.txt

The skeles got a bit of a weakening, when you get to Nightmare they will improve though. The idea is Skeles are good in any difficulty whilst becoming weaker at the end of that difficulty.

Well a Druid really cannot be a "true" summoner in my opinion though I do think the summons should be able to kill and be as efficient as the Necro at high levels. Maybe he just is weak ealy on because of the lack of points in the oher summons?

Barbs are cool I tried to make it so you dont have to use Whirlwind :)

Heh heh the are some real nasty baddies around Baal, dont let them get you :)

Melding gems drop rate probably will drop, I'll most likely increase the chance of "No Drop" when the game chooses to drop one, or add a link to gems/charms in their Treasureclass. (Currently the TC for Melding Gems works like that of runes) You think a price drop for Melding Gems is wanted?

I think gems should be useful like Runes are :) I might take them out of the shops... or increase the Price...

Glad you like it! Have pHun!

EDIT by GAQ

The next patch is looking good :)

Much better update than the last one (although that one was entirely nessercery).
A few little bugs have been ironed out, some balance changes in characters and a change in drops have all been added.

Also in the works are a few item extras, maybe a few new runewords and weapon modifiers ;)

Should be released this Saturday, if all goes well.

If you know how to fix the virgins treasures bug, go for it, I can always sell the ring off before upgrading and find it again....have found it twice so far :) Havent been doin much, mainly just council and meph runs...building up some cash to gamble with....need to upgrade most of my gear

One combination I dont like to much is the 33% chance to cast lvl 1 teleport....gets really annoying in heavy fights! learning to deal with it though!

Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to the update!
