im having some trouble

right, so, i JUST downloaded the full ar patch thing, and i copied it into the folder that im supposed to, and saved the original to another folder. all good so far. however, when i get to the main screen, with the assassin and druid, i click on single player, or open battle.net, or whatever. all goes smooth. but when i choose a new character or something, a thing pops up that says

Assertion Failure
Location : D2CMP\SRC\CelCmp.cpp, line #1521
Expression : IpParent

its kinda making me ornery, so if anyone could offer some advice, id appreciate soooooo much. thank you.
