i forgot how i did it last time. is there any instructions anywhere i could follow?

windows 10. what i've done so far: installed the 1.14 latest patch then reset the patch with a downgrade exe file then used the 1.10 patch and installed ancestral recall in it's own folder but it wont start. the game exe lod file complains i dont have the cd which it didnt ask for last time.

the other way i did was install base diablo 2 + lod then upgrade to v 1.10 but then it still wont start and asks for cd....

You need to copy all of mpq files from your cd's into the game folder.

still the same. does nothing when i open ar.bat, nothing when i open game.exe, and still asks for cd when i open diablo II.exe

Are you sure you have copied all of the mpqs from both D2 and LoD cd's?

yes all 12 of them

got it working. installed the 1.14 latest from battle net installation files from my battlenet account since i bought the game. then i downloaded the reset game.exe file from here https://us.battle.net/forums/en/bnet/topic/20749096862

then patched it to v 1.10 and copied 3 mpq files after what the diablo 2 exe file said it was missing and then i made ar folder and made windowed mode and it worked.
