Smithing Area!

Post by Gl0mb » Sat Jan 08, 2005 12:10 am

Here I'm gonna tell you bout my new spiffy little (at the mo) smithing system. If you like or don't like it, or would add or take features away from it then here's the place to say!

Anyway, onto the smithing table! :)
(Here's the way it's gonna work: Potion type/level to use/level to make)
Standard/3/Not Available
Enhanced/20/13
Higher/40/30
Ancient/65/53

So far, their are only two different potions, attack and defence. At standard, an attack potion popped in the cube with a weapon will add a random value between 5% and 10% to it's damage, the same with a defence potion only defence heh.

You can find standard potions relatively easily among monsters and so on, you'll find it a bit harder to pass by an enhanced potion but I can tell you now, you are never finding a higher or ancient potion. You can make enhanced - ancient potions, which is easier with an ehanced potion I'm guessing and your only option with higher and ancients potions :D.

I would tell you how to make them....but....I'm not going to.

Anyway...What do you think of that?

sounds interesting
though maybe you should limit what items can be "smithed"
this may cause some uniques to get way out of hand

Already done so, sorry for not putting this. The smithing idea was developed to help out people who can't find any good items, such as rares/sets/uniques. These recipes can only be used on normal items. Hope this helps you out :D

Sounds like a nice idea, especially for me since my luck when it comes to drops usually is not so great ^_^'

Hehe, yea. That's the reason I created this section, for my luck with drops has been rather sucky...
Hope y'all like it! ^-^

Well you make or find the potions, and when an attack potion is combined with a weapon the potion will boost the damage of that weapon. They're just for improving items really, for those who seem to have bad luck when it comes to finding uniques and sets etc.

How about not making the potions stackable? I mean in the sense of, if you use a normal potion, you cant use another normal potion but can only use enhanced potion and so on? And now mixing that idea with the random stats part and you get yourself: With normal potion you can get 5-10% enhanced damage, so if you get 7% for example you then continue to the enhanced potion which will give you 30% to enhanced damage as an add on to the 7% so you get a total of 37%. This will encourage people using different kind of items if they want to maximise the capacity of their items, so they have to "smith" an item multiple times using the potions until they get the most (For example, they get the full 10% out of normal potions and the whole other % of the enhanced and so on...).

Nothing much here, just coming up with ideas :)

Ok I think I get what you're saying...
But I'm not going to focus on it too much right now, I was just testing stuff out, it won't be included in the first beta that goes out to you lot it will be a patch on top of the beta.
So it will be tweaked and fully planned out at that stage :) With the help of you guys of course
Thanks for the ideas though, keep them coming
