Re: Problem with this mod

1) Look at the properties for your Diablo 2 shortcut (preferrably not the original - make a new one and call it Pagan Heart). Does the target like look like this?

"D:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct

It should for Pagan Heart to run right. If it has -txt after the -direct - then you may have to reinstall the mod to get it too run.

2) Does the startup line look like this?

"D:\Program Files\Diablo II\paganheart"

Again, it should.

3) When it comes to the rundll32 error, try downloading d2mod again and reinstalling it. There are so many things that can cause that problem, it's frustrating. That's why I play D2 (mods) only in Win2000 now.

Assertion Failure
Location : D2Common\DATATBLS\Datatbls.cpp, line #2227
Expression : pbData

and the second sais:

UNHANDELD EXCEPTION:
ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005).

Im running windows 98 (using my old as my usual computer is broken) and also gets a error messeng when i installed D2mod (something with Rundll32).
I know that this probably is a stupid questen but it would be great if i could get the mod to work.
It definately sounds like D2Mod can't operate properly so you may be wise to go over to the D2Mod/PlugY forum and ask about the error during installation. It may be that '98 doesn't support the D2Mod system but that's purely guess work :(

I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to pass the buck but if you were getting errors before even trying PH, it's best to try and eliminate those first.

SVR released un update for D2Mod under Win98.

But despite of the install/uninstall error message, D2Mod works well under Win98. Don't worry ;)

So perhaps this version being used was the pre-update one?

Thanks for the help "theonlymoose". Did as you said and it works like a charm now. Now that i think back i did all things wrong. I unpacked Paganheart to diablo2 directory directly (not \diablo2\paganheart) and i was still using the original shortcut that the installation program made for me. But when i added -direct and changed the startup line its working just fine.

Whatever the previous issue, I'm glad you've got it sorted now :)

Merging this with the main installation thread.

Does your vanilla D2 work with/without rebooting after you've done something else?

Sounds like you have D2Mod installed incorrectly. Try re-installing it again and make sure the mod title screen says you have D2Mod 1.02 and PlugY 5.06 running. Also, be sure you used only the -direct switch and not the -txt one.

Problems with installing

Post by Lu-Tze » Sun Jun 19, 2005 4:58 pm

I extracted the dlls into that map and installed D2Mod, but when I start a game it's plain old vanilla LoD, although the title screen does indicate that plugY and D2mod are active.

Map? Errr...

If you could detail what you did including the details of your folder structure and shortcut fields I might be able to point you in the right direction :)

all the dlls are in the v110final-paganheart-v095b map, that gets created.

edit: the shortcut is called D2mod

Map = Folder? Where's Ulthrion to translate when I need him ;)

I mean the details of your mod shortcut such as the target and starts in fields. I also need to know things like where you unzipped the mod to such as G:/Games/Diablo 2/Mods/Pagan Heart/, that kind of thing.

I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking straight, normally I wouldn't have made such a stupid mistake. I unzipped the dlls to the MyMod which is in the Diablo II folder, along with a shortcut, which I renamed as D2Mod.

Okay so you downloaded the zip file(s), where did you unzip them to and what did you do to change the shortcut (not the name, the actual properties)?

I unzipped the files to the MyMod folder in the DiabloII main folder and what do I have to change to the properties of the shortcut?
