Animation speed calculator

Post by Brother Laz » Thu Jul 05, 2007 2:49 pm

Before I get back and officially add it to the site, here is a link to the animation speed calculator made by a kind soul.

That 'kind soul' is holzbit, he didn't mention himself in the credits :)
It is still useful to read Laz' page about animation speeds. The calc does the calculations for you (hence the name), and the 'table' output is really useful and hard to calculate by hand. But it doesn't contain explanations, that's what the official page is for.

Notes:
You can specify nonsense combinations by design (ie. Sorceress with Angel Star and Crossbow Attack), adding plausibility was discarded because of required coding effort and because the limits it would introduce would actually hinder usability if you know what you're doing (ie. holzbit and me, and anyone who read the official page).

Just an idea; how about adding mercenaries' attack speeds to the calc?

Good idea. Problem is, I´m not sure how to calculate them yet. I have the AnimationSpeed and FramesPerDirections values, but the formulae need some adjustments. E.g. how to calculate IAS for the (most used) Shapeshifter? Does the classic LOD formula which favors WIAS and a fast weapon over everything else for Werforms take effect in this case? The unshifted act2 merc´s Jab used a 14 frames sequence animation, what attack animation does the bear use?

One thing is missing: In that little (very useful) list wich is saying wich items are slashing, thrusting, and staffs, the class "Spear" is missing, or am I wrong?

Right. Added that, along with a link to the complete list.

Is Berserk Fury considered skill-based bonuses (not subject to diminishing returns)? If so, could you include SLVL of BF in the FHR/FBR rows?

Hmm.. I guess that would count for Wolfstance too then? Can anybody confirm?

EDIT: Testversion removed, changes incorporated into speedcalc. Thanks for testing&confirming.

Wow! I <3 Berserk Fury! :D

...if it's bonuses are considered skill-based, that is. Although, confirmation would be appreciated. Laz? Skill-based or not?

Hmm, I'll just test something out, brb...

EDIT: Okay, I just went into the Cold Plains with my Barbarian now, and got surrounded by a bunch of enemies, so that I could compare different blocking speeds (not very accurate doing it with just the eyes, I know, but at higher speeds differences are easier to spot). It appears to me as if the test calculator is correct. [94%BF + 15%] was visibly slower than [94%BF + 65%], but there didn't seem to be any difference between [94%BF + 155%] and [95%BF + 195%]. Had I not had Runemaster it would've been easier to notice any differences (blockings were not very frequent due to high CLVL and Defense).

Should be skill-based. :)
