Well, for starters, you could actually play through the game rather than waiting anxiously on the forum for an hour.
Anyway - the standard prescription for gaining levels is either going after Baal's minions using the /players 8 command, or going after the Death Projector.
For more specific help, please give us some idea of what kind of character you're playing - different character builds naturally find that there are certain areas they excel at, while there are others they have trouble with (for example, summoners in the Maggot Lair).
