problem with complete plugin

Ive searched this forum for an answer, and it seems like a few other people are having the same problem. I installed the complete plugin pack as it said, but it at first wouldnt let me even run the game due to an error. This i found out was a problem with the modded d2gfx file, so i used the default and i was able to play the game along with the plugin patch. Everything worked fine until i got to the entrance to the durance in travincal, whenever i try to go down it or run up the stairs, the game gives me an error and forces me to quit. I couldnt find a reason why, so I used a character editor to give myself the durance 2 waypoint, and everything worked up until i got to the second area in hell. When I would approach one of the bonus dungeons, I came upon a similar issue that I cant get past. Any help as to what is wrong with the d2gfx.dll or how i can fix this problem? it would be greatly appreciated

It's because you removed the D2gfx.dll that enabled extra areas in the game. What you need to do is re-enable it. This can be done by re-installing The D2Mod System.

First, reinstall the Complete Plugin Kit, then go into the Complete Plugin Kit Directory and click D2ModSetup. It should ask if you wish to uninstall the D2ModSsytem. Select Yes. Then click it again and select Yes when it asks if you want to install the D2ModSystem.

Lastly, run the recoveryfromcrash. This will restore any damaged dll's.

Alright, ive been messing around attempting to do what you said, but nothing is working. Installing the mod the way the readme explains overwrites the default d2gfx(i dont know if this is intended). I am also confused by the use of d2mod system, as the system's readme says that it wants the dll in the "mymod" folder, but yours contradicts this. i guess my problem is i am not quite sure where things should be, and the way the readme for your most recent plugin kit has lead to these errors. i'm sorry if it's a bother, but i really do like these plug-ins, and i want to get them to work.

the mymod folder that the readme for the d2mod system talks about is an example for modmakers. so just ignore that and only follow talonrages readme.

Hi. I have the same problem, and so far, nothing has seemed to fix it. I just tried completely uninstalling Diablo 2, deleting all the files from the folder (other than the save folder) so there couldn't possibly be anything else contaminating the install, reinstalling it, the expansion, the 1.10 patch (re-downloaded here on phrozenkeep), and the complete plugin kit 2.5 (re-downloaded from talonrage's webpage, installed according to instructions). Not one other thing has been changed.

When I move into the Travincal temple which has the compelling orb into it - actually, as soon as I walk up the steps, it crashes with:
Assertion Failure
Location : D2Common\DUNGEON\Dungeon.cpp, line #543
Expression : ptAct

same as before.

There are still some other topics with this problem:

Where the authors never wrote back saying they were able to resolve it, so something odd is definitely going on.

I am not sure if it helps, but if I teleport in the temple from the side, I can get in, but when I click on the "Khalem's burial chamber" area, it crashes with a different line of dungeon.cpp in the error:

they are visual basic scripts that allow you to run your mods in separate folders. RoS has one.

Definitely not then. The complete plugin is started the generic -direct -txt way. And I've tried a clean reinstallation of the game, patch, and it.

I have been following this thread for some time and am trying to figure out what plug-in's you are discussing. I thought all the plug-in's were already installed in 6.00. I have only been upgrading the patches as they come out. At 6.07 now in NM. Is there something I have been missing?
The Mod seems to be working OK. Talonrage wrote not to use plug-ins with 6.00. Are you using an older version of the Mod that needed the plug-in's?

Version 6.0 of what? Requiem of Sorrow? No, I'm not using Requiem of Sorrow, I'm using the complete plugin kit, which is one of Talonrage's other mods. Nothing else. You can get it and information on it on his webpage here:

It's for patch 1.10. If you have a clean diablo 2 installation available and could test it, I could send you my saved game via email to see if it works any better for you. The only person I've seen say it DID work correctly for them, it seemed they did in fact turn out to be using Requiem of Sorrow.

Sorry for not being complete :oops: . Yes, I am playing RoS 6.07, also Lament.
Downloaded the patches last night, and tried to play from its own folder. After several tries and not wanting to mess up my Diablo files, I made a copy of Diablo and pasted in the Plugin folder. Made a shortcut on my desktop, added the -direct and -txt, changing Start in to C:\Program Files\Diablo ll\Mods\Talonrage Complete Plugin v2.4 and started playing. It appears to be an old version of RoS. Actually RoS version 3.01 with Plug Y 4.04 and D2mod system 1.02. No fancy start up screens or extra goodies of RoS version 6.00+ or Lament. Didn't use the script launcher. Just curious, but why play the The complete plugin istead of the newer RoS?

Tried with the script launcher and it also worked. Of course Ac1 Blood Moor in both cases.

So then could you give me an email address where I can send the saved game? It only seems to have issues in that one specific area (and possibly later ones). No big deal if you don't want to bother: I think I'm finally at the point of just breaking down and switching over to ROS (if I can get it to download on my current cruddy internet connection - can download managers resume files from fileplanet?) - though I don't look forward to starting new characters yet again. But I wouldn't mind the peace of mind knowing whether or not this error only effects some people for some as-yet undetermined reason, or it's something with the plugin kit itself.

I like the kit because it feels and plays like a base version of D2 with a collection of positive balance and other changes, but nothing quite as drastic as ROS or most full mods (it doesn't make monsters harder and require tons of cubing or uniques to deal with them, skills are balanced a bit but basically the same, etc). And since I've never gotten around to playing vanilla (or semi-vanilla in this case :P) D2 on higher difficulty levels than normal, am really an unskilled wimp, and want to do so solo without too much hassle, the plugin kit seemed like my ideal set of changes to do it with.

I also have a cruddy 56k modem. Use GetRight, it works fine with File Planet.
I have a half dozen Mods on my computer that I alternate playing just to see what's different. At my age, you are never in a hurry to finish a game.
My all time favorite Mod is Zy El. With the event of Plug Y, played it for ages just to collect all the pictures and Sets. It is still on my computer and I hope Kato comes back some day.

Received your character- had the same crashes. Used both the -direct -txt, and vbs launcher had the same results. The Act 2 Merc's weapon and torso armour were both offset (high). Worked with my character until I obtained an Act 1 Merc. Her equiptment was also offset.
Was able to go up the steps after I zeroed Shared Stash in PlugY.
Never able to enter the Tomb.
Was probably just random luck.
Did enter the trap door and went as far as activating the lvl2 WP.

Yeah, I had that merc problem too. It looks like it's also meant to allow full equipment, but doesn't actually. Glad to know none of this is just me. Thanks so so much.

From one of the previous posts, there's another point that crashes like that in Hell, so even getting past it like that probably wouldn't help in the long run.

I'm off to ROS - I don't like not being able to unassign skills (button doesn't work even if you enable it, and from another post apparantly using it caused crashing anyway - I guess that feature's not compatible with 4 skill tabs). Though since it gives you more points in the long run and there are even rare items that give skill points, I think I can manage.

(I messed with zy-el a bit when it was fairly new. That was before plugy if I remember correctly so you really couldn't store all the items, and I was waiting for it to be ported to the then-upcoming 1.10. Still waiting. :P)

Ive using the complete plugin pack and I have a problem in act 3 travincal.When I destroy the Compelling Orb,it opens a door to the khalims burial chamber.But where is the durance of hate entrance?I cant find it.Please, someone answer me,ive put this plugin to my mod,and im testing it now.

What version of D2 1.10, 1.11, or 1.12a. If it is 1.11 or 1.12a it may not be compatible. I am not familiar with the plugin.
