Skill/level

Post by whitejesus » Mon Apr 02, 2007 4:26 pm

I have tried to edit the skills that my character receives on level up and I have been unsuccessful. I was wondering if anyone could be of any help in this. I know this is a problem because of the addons that allow characters to receive more levels at certain level tiers.

Thanks

Wow no one has any input? Does Talonrage ever check this?

It's possible to do it, you would have to replace a few files first.

Do you have any idea of how to go about this?

I'd be very careful.

So, ban plugy then? Is that considered "modding a mod"?

I've added all the text files to the mod so that anyone can edit it as they choose for "personnel" tastes. Just check the Diablo II\Mods\Requiem folder and extract the text files from the patch.

Thank you. If I have any further questions involving this editing I will PM you or post it here for I don't know how often you check this forum or your messages.

Back in Febuary I lost my Mother and Father in an automobile accident, so I've been rather absent here at the Keep. I haven't been modding at all since then, but I'll be checking posts here a few times a day, so if you have any questions just ask. I'll get back to you within a day.

I'm sorry for your loss, Talonrage. I went into the folder last night looking for files and the only thing I found was plugy.ini and d2mod.ini? not sure of the name, I'm at school atm. But when I altered either of these in any way the skills gained per level never change when leveling up.

You have to open up the D2_Patch.mpq file and extract the skpoints.txt file from the Data \ Global \ Excel folder (using winmpq). You then need to make the changes (using D2excel) and then generate a new .bin file via the -direct -txt method.

This will be something new to me, but I will try and see what happens. Is the skpoint.txt also found in the data\global in the mod\requiem\data(I think thats the correct file names) folder? Or does it have to be done with winmpq from the d2_patch.mpq?

Thanks

I just received a pm saying the following:
First you need to delete the levelup.dll in the mod folder and also delete the d2mod.dll. Then replace a clean d2mod.dll to the folder. Then just change the skillpoints = 1 in the d2mod.ini and plugy.ini. That's all I had to do to change it.
I was wondering if this would change the mod specific game play/changes? Wouldn't this essentially revert RoS back to Vanilla?

i don't see why d2mod.dll need to be deleted....leave it as it is, rather open up d2mod.ini and put a ; infront of levelup=levelup.dll, them modify plugy.ini to give the amount of skill points you want per level.

K, I will try this and leave the winmpq editing as my last result; but do you know if this will work. Or is it a suggestion?

thanks
