Game launching error.

'Ello all, I've actually played this wonderful mod before. But mainly at a friend's house, since whenever I have attempted to re-install and launch the game on my computer I will get this stubborn error. Strange thing is, that I had the mod working for a few days... Then something happened and the game crashed. Since then, I'd always get this error:

I'm currently working off Windows Vista 32bit, and have RoS 6.08 installed. So far, this has been the only mod that's given me troubles.

Anyone seen this Exception before? I do apologize if my search-fu is weak, but I'd rather just ask right now. ^^, Thanks for your time.

make sure that your running patch 1.10, other than that, the error dump from the log file is probably needed(D2ddmmyy.txt in your d2 folder)

It is also a good idea to make sure that the launcher is set to run as Administrator and to disable the desktop composition.

@Necrolis: I'm running 1.10. I use a base copy of Diablo 2 1.10 that I then copy for any mods for 1.10. Also, I cannot find the proper .txt file in the folder I have Requiem installed... Though there is one from ages ago in June 2006. That wouldn't be the case for this.

@Hans: I'm pretty sure I'm running it as an Administrator already, but what is this Desktop Composition? ._.

Also, the game asks if I want to run in the game in Windowed Mode first before I get the Error. Maybe that helps?

Desktop Composition is a feature that was added with Vista. I believe Aero theme uses it.

It can be disabled in the Compatibility section of the shortcut. You may also want set it to Xp compatibility mode as well.

@Hans: The shortcut I'm using (which is the file shortcut that game with the main download, "Requiem of Sorrow", the VBS Script File) does not have the Compatibility menu. It only has General, Shortcut, Security, Details, and Previous Versions tabs. Am I using the wrong file shortcut? I've tried using the basic Diablo II.exe and Game.exe shortcuts in the base Diablo 2 folder I use, but it only brings up the 1.10 version of Diablo with no mod.

Could I just dump all files and folders from the Requiem folder into the main Diablo 2 folder, and run it with the basic .exe file shortcuts?

You can still change the settings for the game.exe by right clicking on it

If I do change the game.exe or Diablo II.exe file (sent to Desktop as shortcut and disable Desktop Composition as well as set as Windows XP), it still starts the game up in 1.10. However, if I alter the Target and Start In lines to use the LaunchModGame VBS file then it basically becomes what the first shortcut became and brings up the assertion failure...
(example:
The Target Line was originally: "C:\Program Files\Requiem of Sorrow\Game.exe"
The Target Line is now: "C:\Program Files\Requiem of Sorrow\Mods\Requiem\LaunchModGame.vbs" -direct
The Start In Line was originally: "C:\Program Files\Requiem of Sorrow"
The Start In Line is now: "C:\Program Files\Requiem of Sorrow\Mods\Requiem")

I've also found some .txt files now with these failures, so I'll post them up. Maybe they'll help?
