Keep in mind that those boss runs will now yield on average 20-40% less desirable loot (rares), since you are now only guaranteed one rare per NV5 run instead of two (though Blizzard says you still have a "high" chance of rolling more rares, but we know their version of "high" never matches with what players expect to actually be).

Instead you'll get to run elite packs for those rares now. And just wait until you get into Inferno where the full gamut of affixes is in play and you'll see why players are much loathing this change since no real changes (1.0.3) came to the overall affixes themselves other than IV minions.

Edit: As an added bonus, the bosses now have enrage timers that are low as hell, on top of one spewing gas clouds so quickly the entire room fills up in less than half of the time it takes to even reach the enrage timer, and the other boss having Reflects Damage (think Iron Maiden from D2) that even with full self-healing/survival cooldowns AND a potion up and in use at the same time, you're instagibbed unless you do pitiful DPS. Except that when you do pitiful DPS, you can't beat the enrage timer....

Yeah, this patch actually put D3 lower on the totem pole for replayability (or even playability with the UBER insane repair costs now) than Duke Nukem: Forever, which took longer to develop and release.

God...I need a drink...a real drink, and I don't drink.

I wish I could get ES 1.12 working in OS X...hate having to boot to Windows.

Aahahh, while playing D3 often I talk about Eastern Sun mod to people who complain about D3 and prefer D2...I hope to have attracted more people. I think we have to advertise ES more, maybe having a youtube channel, more videos, more screenshots, more updates etc..

Right ON my man...I didn't think that anybody would get that upset cuz of the {filtered} game, but if it's that {filtered} then no wonder...

BTW, why is the forum showing {filtered} when I have the word censor turned off? Seems to not be adhering to my UCP prefs.

Back on the subject of D3, I managed to sprain my mouse hand after becoming so enraged at dying again for the 50th time against the same elite pack (which resets to full health when you die now) when I slammed my fist into the desk, only I miscalculated where I was hitting and bashed the corner edge of my desk and ....well, that's two veins I won't be using for a while.

I also measured my BP after each D3 session relative to my normal 110/85, and I consistently had nearly 170/130 after each of my D3 sessions.

Methinks it's time to just ditch that game and come to the realization that Blizzard is a has been and that there is no reviving the franchise, at least not by them.

Jay Wilson should never have been lead designer. We went from 21,800 in public games on Monday night (prime time) to 1482 in public games last night. That's a 90% drop. I don't think I've ever seen a game lose 90% of its active players in one day.

Im just gonna quote something that i read today on a different forum that i found very conforting after my dismay with the game.

- I disagree. To me a game has to be fun and appealing from the get-go. I don't want to endure something I don't like in the hope that it will get better over time.

Just had to post this hoping that it will also make you feel a little bit better like it did to me.

Cheers.

 lol i'm not the only one who destroyed a game disc because the rage seems. (in my case was a psx game anyway  )
anyway honestly instead waiting diablo-godot became better, i prefer wait path of exile or torchlight 2, and progress with es if
want a game like diablo 2.

No point in playing something just for trying to revive a ghost of a great game. will be interesting see how many players will play this at the end of this year

I've underestimated D3 in the past, but I totally agree with those people who complain about elite bastards, crappy drops, very few gold and unbalanced classes. Come on "Blizzard", with a simple patch you can fix all those stuff that people (who bought your game) hate and making it enjoyable. Why do you hate us su much? :(

if you can't progress, you have to use the RMAH. simple. This game is not intended to make people enjoy but just drain their money up

While I'm no fan of the RMAH, I have to disagree with that 100%.
If you reach a point where you can't progress, you can just buy some upgrades off the Gold Auction House and be good for a while... until that next 'stuck point', where you have to repeat the process over and over each time.

However, I'm not saying that you won't be able to "pass" on the RMAH forever...
Given that when the RMAH launched the majority of the reasonably priced DECENT yellows seems to have disappeared from the Gold Auction House (with the better items apparently being horded from the start), it's gone pretty dry for anything above mediocre with the Chest Nerf in 1.03 (from what I've seen, yellows are dropping roughly half as frequently overall, and a greater reduction from Treasure Chest, even the gold ones).
Add that to the fact that 1.03 has also greatly increased the repair costs -- they said that Lv60 gear wasn't any more expensive to repair than Lv59 gear so it was 'trivial' to repair, yet the increased repair costs seem to span the entire level range from at least 20 on --it's looking like buying gold is going to be at minimum semi-required for anyone who doesn't want to grind crap mobs for gold.

Does Blizzard force you to use the RMAH? No.
Could they in the future? Quite possibly, yes.

I just noticed another free online game called Thirst of Night....so with the upcoming Path of Exile, it made me wonder if there's a website that lists these sorts of games....you know, a site that doesn't just list a bunch of throwaway mindless games. Google searching "free online games" does not get you anywhere but the aforementioned mindless games sites.

Oy...I wish I could get ES working under OS X...unfortunately only the 1.13 clients work in 10.6.8. Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh.

I hate having to dual boot to Windows...even if it is on an SSD.

When I get a new iMac I plan on using Crossover to play Rift. Diablo II LOD received a gold rating, so who knows? Maybe it would be fine. I am in the same boat as you and hate rebooting to play Rift (have not played ES is quite some time because of that).

Metro you can try Play on Mac. I used the Play on Linux and it has worked quite well on some windows apps.

http://www.playonmac.com/en/

You likely will less issues with Crossover but Playonmac is free and it should work well with D2.

One of my Clan mates is running a mac as well and wanted to play ES but not boot into windows.

The only thing that can be done is trying to port the game to 1.13 but it would likely mean the loss of quite a few of the code changes and likely means going back to the standard gear slot for the Mac. I believe someone did manage to make soft changes for the extra merc equipment slots.

Poking my head back in here after a long time, glad to see this forum is alive and well!

I've been on D3 also. The whole thing is just sad, and virtually all of the criticisms of the game are totally valid and deserved.

Maybe new players who have never tried any other Diablo games might take a liking because there is nothing to compare it to, but for seasoned Diablo fans I absolutely cannot recommend it. I WANTED to like it. I never preordered a game or bought a Collector's Edition game in my life, until D3. For D3, I preordered the CE the second I read about it, and paid extra for one-day shipping. I didn't have high hopes really, but I thought if it was even half the game D2 was it would be worth it.

Well I gave the game many many second chances and have 3x lvl 60s now, and the picture is quite clear: The game is one giant TURD. This dev team did what I thought was impossible, with massive time/money/resources at their disposal they produced a Diablo game that is NOT FUN. It still boggles my mind, I just can't grasp how it ended up like this. From the meager responses of the developers, it's pretty clear they are busy patting themselves on the back for the many millions of copies sold rather than stepping back and looking at the scope of the problems with the game. Copies sold off of the Diablo franchise name, rather than the merits of the product itself.

As for all those sold copies...my friends list went from boom town to ghost town, with easily 80-90% of people not having logged on in a LONG time. Hype for D3 was enormous before it launched, I was amazed at how many coworkers were going to play it, but that did not last long once it released. You could write a book (very tempting...) and use this game as an example in classes of how NOT to design a game.

Instead of D3 crushing the competition, I'm looking forward to trying them ironically enough. Waiting for:
Torchlight 2
Borderlands 2
Grim Dawn

I want TL2 to come out so bad :(

Good to hear from long lost Blinn:)

Don't forget about Path of Exile.

I hate to say I said so, but I remember all the talk about everyone jumping into D3, and I mentioned I never buy much of anything immediately. I play the tech curve or whatever you want to call it. Wait a year or two, see how things shake out, see all the reviews, then jump in when it's $29.99 for the Diablo Battlechest:) I had never even played D1 at that point, and D2 had already been out awhile. Anyhow, that's how I do everything. I think I learned back in the days of the Betamax:)

Well... being one of those defending D3 for a long time I still have to admit that it isn't as much fun as I hoped it would be. The reason is simple: While many people still seem to have fun progressing through D3 it just doesn't work the way I'm used to, especially after playing ES for a long time. The way progress works in D3 is not the way I enjoy it. Period.

I played up to Act 2 Inferno completely selffound, buying not a single piece of equipment from the auction house. By that time I felt like the demon hunter was tested enough. I rerolled a barbarian, now playing with the auction house. I enjoyed that a lot since just jumping into the mobs and and beating them up is my thing (hello @ ES Tank Immolation sorc!) but it still doesn't feel like it should.

But after almost 20 years of playing computer games I might as well be getting too old for this stuff. It started 10 years ago that I started liking older games more than newer games. Adding more and more features makes it more time consuming rather than more fun. D3 seemed to understand at least that. But then again... doesn't feel right.

Unfortunately (am I allowed to say this?) the Server went offline and I'm totally unmotivated playing ES offline. I quit WoW for D3 so now I ended up playing like once every month. At least D3 did one thing: cure my gaming addiction :D

I never played any game that is released after 2000 except for Torchlight,Fallout and maybe one more or two games besides those and I liked those games...Old games may have bad graphics but the storyline and the playstyle they offer is great,in RPG-s almost every game had a bunch of options for improving your Chars and that is one great plus to older games...If you played many of the old RPG like Fallout 1 and 2 and the like(there are many old games that are way better than D3 which I decided not to play when I first seen the Video on YouTube with some Char playing in Normal) then you will almost automatically reject a game that is like D3...Blizzard should have never made another Diablo, they should have tried to improve what has already existed instead of wasting the time and money of so many people on a product that only carries a good name and nothing else...And any new game that is gonna be made is gonna be the same as D3...Just improved graphics and dumbed down so that even retards can finish the game...I don't like that at all...I want to play a game that offers something new but at the same time retains something of the old games(preferably many things)...if you can understand what i want to say...It's just in any new games I played I didn't see anything NEW...It's all the same old things just recolored and in better graphics(which is not particularly important)...damn...I would wish to see a revamped Fallout 2...

My two favorite games of all time are Civ4 and D2 - extended life with Eastern Sun and CivREVDCM mods which are great! I have resisted purchasing both Civ5 and D3 until the first expansion, as I have (IMHO) learned that is the sweet spot where the games get significantly better from play testing and user suggestions. The only difficulty is being patient.
