The follower system have been unveiled in a leak.
You will have far more control over the customizations in Diablo 3. where you will be able to assign what skills it get.

Sounded good... Until they just announced that followers would be only in single player only; not required for normal difficulty; yet not strong enough to be viable in nightmare and hell... What a waste of a system.
