Who else is almost leaving D3?
Where's the loot? Where's the fun?? I played Diablo II since it's launch until last January, and now Diablo III is almost sickening me, with only a month!
My stats:
0 Legendary Items found
0 Set Items found
Uncountable useless Rare Items
+100 hours playing with my DH
+50 hours playing with my Wizard
Both chars stopped at the wall that is Inferno Act II
I want to know the opinion of my fellow mod friends here! Are you still enjoying the game?

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
I am also losing interest quite fast. Getting a high level char is too easy. I have a level 55 wizard, which is about equal to a 92 char in D2. Yet ive only played my wizard for 16 hours, where in D2 it would have taken me at least 40.
On top of that, wheres the replay value? so you can get your ass kicked in inferno all the time, and pick any quest to redo whenever you want, also change your class skills whenever.
Its not as fun or as challenging as D2.
But now that the real money auction house is up, i just might have to keep playing so i can sell the things i find.

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
I uninstalled the game to day. To me that is the ultimate insult to a computer game developer.
I found
* 5 Legendaries (all but 1 is useless)
* 0 Sets
* 4 Plans - Crafting is more useless in D3 than in D2 and I thought it was {filtered} in D2
* Countless useless rares with the same handful of pathetic mods that just get regurgitated over and over.
Lvl 60 Wiz
* 241% MF
* 170 hours
Lvl 25 Barb
* Nothing special but I wasnt up to a pile of running gear for another char.
The Act 2 Inferno wall didn't bother me. What botherered me was the endless grind with no prospects of anything fun. Just point and click. Rinse and repeat. No replay value whatsoever. No I dont want another version of WoW where every item is some gg item but at the same time, going to the other extreme is just dumb. Having to be dependent on someone else for gear was just not fun. It removed any thrill in the game at all.
My only saving grace is that I was able to convince 3 friends to not bother wasting their money.

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
While there are aspects to the game that I am definitely disappointed in (really crappy drop rates for legendaries and set items especially, 2 legendaries-non useful, and 0 set in over 200 hours played).
I hold out in this initial state of things while Blizz gets the data they need in order to produce a more well balanced game... drop rates is definitely an issue that will be spoken on a lot there I am sure.
I find it just as redundant as vanilla LoD was/is.
Hopefully there are some spectacular events/additions on the horizon for D3.
Most often I can be found on my lvl 60 monk farming the hell out of Act 1 inferno and partying in Act 2 or Act 3 Inferno.

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
I played about 1/2 way through NM with my Witch Doctor and said screw this game. It's not the character but the games structure. I wish they'd of called it Diablo Online not Diablo 3. They took everything I loved about D2 and threw it out the window and made the graphics modern.
Here is what has to be fixed to make me have any interest in playing this game
•The linear storyline ruins way points and to my multiplayer (which is major considering it's online only).
•Characters are not unique and as methodically able to be planned as stat and skill points are automatically assigned.
•Online only is horrible. I'm forced to play with a newer patch when I don't like it. Also getting lag when playing by yourself when you don't want to play online is lame. It's also throwing dirt in the face of D2 modders. They are true fans and have a huge fanbase and bring a lot to Blizzard.
•The fact they don't want to make a ladder so it don't conflict with the auction house. I play hardcore and no ladder ruins the fun.
•Heck the pregame lobbies suck. You can't see each other's characters.
•In game your account name is displayed instead of your character name. At one point I forgot I even named my character and couldn't think of it when someone asked.
The auction house a whole new bunch of bs! They seen all the spammers selling their items and their sites and decided to cut them out with this. Fine but I don't want to ever use that option and I sure don't want it effecting the game I want to play and it is. The drops are crap and items can be nerfed after people pay cash for them.
D2 mods are the way to go still for me. If they change the name to Diablo Online I might play it once in a blue moon because they could make a whole new Diablo 3 that the players want, so I'd play it out of gratitude for admitting their faults and fixing them. I would also give it a shot if it was playable offline. Then someone could maybe mod out the linear storyline.

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
I've seen statistics and Diablo III had already lost more than two thirds of its player base in one month. I knew it was going to suck the minute they started implementing WoW game mechanics during development. Jay Wilson admitted that he had never played the original Diablo. He based the game more on WoW than on Diablo when just about everyone knows that Diablo fans hate WoW. There are a myriad of technical issues with the game, servers and auction house that are so bad, the governments of South Korea, France and Germany got involved. The 3D graphics look like crap, are jagged and blocky like WarCraft III, with the added disadvantage that that most monsters and characters are barely readable against the PlaySkool colored environments making it just look like a blob of colored blocks amidst the realistically colored purple and cyan dungeons. Belial looks like a giant floating purple ballsack, and there's barely any contrast in the textures to indicate highlights and shadows and whatnot. They're basically just flat color. It looks like WoW, which is one of the ugliest insults to the eyes out there. The only part of the graphics that are halfway readable are the interface graphics, which are quite beautiful actually - unlike the rest of the game. Honestly, Titan Quest's graphics with D3's GUI would totally rock. The game shouldn't even be called Diablo 3, it should be called Real Money Auction House. That's what the whole game is built around and it's nothing but a cheap money grab. When players were complaining about the high repair costs and how they can't find enough gold to repair their items, much less use the gold auction house, Jay Wilson actually had the gall to tell them to buy gold from the real money auction house. Blizzard started going downhill with WoW, and the merger with Activision was just another nail in the coffin.
No beating heart I felt. I brought no sights to the silver lips; no warmth from the gold.

This thread is about who is thinking about leaving Diablo 3, and why. But, writting a huge wall of text without backup with facts. It's alot people who claim stuff, but where is links to what you claims? Your reply would have done more good with started a new thread as you touching something's that have nothing to do with why you leaving/thinking about leave Diablo 3.
By the way I hope you know every single online game (regardless if it have built in auction house or not) have real money involved in everything from buy currency, gear, characters. If you don't like it, don't use it. But, those who want to use it, will always do. In Diablo II you have many ways get scammed then try trading (remember back in time then trading player vs player was unsecured?)
Let's go back to original topic.

Didn't realize I was going off topic. You're right kingpin and I might touch on it in different thread for a different day.

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
Have been away from the Keep and D2 for a few years now. Have played about 300 hours of D3 and am pretty much done for now, for all the reasons stated above and many more. The main thing that is making me go back to D2 mods is the realization that D3 WILL NOT be fixed by a patch.
Technically it can be, of course, but I don't think it will be, because I believe that Blizz's hands are tied by an Activision executive decision: there can never ever be anything close to self-sustainable item drops AND/OR a finer, more playable Inferno, because then the Auction houses would become completely optional and redundant. The game is constructed around the auction houses, an albeit illogical and failed priciple but one that is at the core of this game nonetheless and will remain there.
For this reason, I feel it is wishful thinking to be waiting for patches, because the game is functioning EXACTLY AS INTENDED and that's why I'm leaving.

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
I have stopped playing D3 since it is not fun for me. Only the first playthorugh was fun and it just got worse from there.
Part of it for me is also the tremendous lag and latency I get. 90% of the time I am in the red and over 2k ms is common for me.

Re: Who else is almost leaving D3?
Last night I tried playing D3 with a Playstation 2 controller, It was surprisingly a lot of fun, it makes the gameplay difficult.
How did I do it? quite simple actually.
I have a ps2 to usb adapter, and a program called xpadder (I use it for playing old NES/SNES games)
It just maps the buttons to a keyboard key.
This is how I set up my controller config.
I set the "Move" key binding in D3 to "0"
Then made the Left Analog Stick control the mouse movement as well, but this time I cycled the keys.
To explain: xpadder will first move mouse, then it will press "0" aka move. So no matter where the mouse is, you will always be walking in that direction.
I found that it was not easy to control wherever you walked. But in the end D3 is not a console game.
Also this is just based off the standard D3 control config, you can set it to whatever you want.
And I'm pretty sure this will work with all other game controllers, I have seen it done with an Xbox360 controller as well.

Left Trigger 2: Shift (Force stand still, essential for ranged/casters)
Dpad Up: I (Inventory)
Dpad Left: S (Skills)
Dpad Right: L (Journal)
Dpad Down: Alt (Show items on ground)
Select: J (Quest Log)
Start: Esc (Escape Menu/Pause)
X Button: 1 (Action Bar Skill 1)
Square Button: 2 (ABS 2)
Circle Button: 3 (ABS 3)
Triangle Button: 4 (ABS 4)
Left Analog Button: T (Town Portal)
Right Analog Button: Space (clear screen)
Right Analog Stick: Mouse (actually controls the position of the mouse)

You may want to be careful using xpadder since Blizzard might think it is a hack and ban you.

Imo Xpadder is safer than using any script, it just maps the controller buttons to keyboard buttons.
A lot of other people have been using AutoIt scripts, which can also be used to create bots.

I would stop using Xpadder now before you get caught, because they will ban you for using that if they catch you.Black_Eternity" wrote:Imo Xpadder is safer than using any script, it just maps the controller buttons to keyboard buttons.

How would they even know? Even if they monitor me it just shows I am using keyboard/mouse

Most is easier to detect then you think. There is nothing that is "safe" to use, if it's cross the borderline what's allowed to use or not. If it's not allowed, they will find their ways to detect it.Black_Eternity" wrote:How would they even know? Even if they monitor me it just shows I am using keyboard/mouse

As far as I know Warden checks what processes are running and then gather up that information and if the program can be used in the game than it might be considered a hack/mod/exploit or whatever and then a ban.
If you do want to use it might be best to contact Blizzard support and see if it is allowed.
