Where does Diablo 3 fail, when compared to D2?
Any ideas?
Personally, I'd say the itemization is more of a chore than a pleasure

I never played D3 but i have seen many videos. All i can think of is that both D2 but mostly D3 failed to give a dark medieval atmosphere to the game.
For me the basic principle of a game is its story. The story determines what kind of world you have, based on which you can build everything else. For example the game's world is what determines what kind of creatures you will implement in the game, what kind of areas. etc. Playing Diablo and killing dinosaures is the opposite of what i mean. As a medieval world with undeads and demons Diablo should be mostly scary, foggy sometimes, dark and mysterious game. Without all that many fancy colors (like in D3) but instead more realistic.

since they released expansion there is no areas that they fail on. But, if I have to choose then I would say lack of pvp.

Re: Where does Diablo 3 {filtered} blizzard, when compared to D2?
Haven't played the expansion so I'll just say: everywhere.
But the story, items/drops, and lack of modability/randomness were the worst part of it for me.. The 1st and 2nd games were no Planescape: Torment, but the 3rd's storyline is just insulting. Feels like a little kid wrote it or they ripped it from some pre-school cartoon.
The itemization was so bland and basic.. just keep stacking whatever your main stat is and hope something will drop that's got more of that main stat than what you have. None of the dynamicness the 2nd game had with all of the different builds and modifiers.
Can't mod it, and all exteriors were the same layout.. The interiors weren't that random, either, kind of felt like it had about 4-5 set layouts it switched between; Made it a chore to play through again on different characters.
Again, IDK how the expansion dealt with it, so maybe it's different now.

I won't buy or play it until they allow single player on PC. Blizzard has D3 single player for other platforms but not PC. I've never logged into battle.net, or openbattle.net, and resent the requirement that I have to play their game online.

Game changed a lot since the last updates. The only missing things are pvp and mods. But idk why, i love d2 graphics more.

one reason I don't like d3 much is they've dumbed it down so much its borderline stupid -.-

Imo, D3 is quite decent in all regards except:
no possible to play offline single player on PC
No Modding
Crafting is not interesting
Skill system not that great
End game content ....
Economy not egsistent..no trading

Sounds like D3 is still as lame as ever. Too bad. It had such great potential.Elafar" wrote:Imo, D3 is quite decent in all regards except:

Re: Where does Diablo 3 fail, when compared to D2?
part of D3's problem is you have little choices for skills only X skill is good for X time or its like old wow its the new flavor of the month. Its not a bad game just get hidiously dull in no time at all the expansion helped it alot but its still a very boring game to play. I think the longest I managed to play is more or less a month then I uninstalled the game since I hardly play it anymore.
