New map features comming in version 6.00

Hello all !

Here is some news before the end of this year relating to news features I am going to release with version 6.00 :)

These features are designed to reward players that explore the maps. Let's face it : currently, the mod is huge but maps are quite empty (ie : there is nothing to do on thems exept killing monsters). This is why I've added theses features so players can have some variation in their play time when they find one of them. So, here we go !

1. Cursed chests

Cursed chests are a new type of chest that can be found randomly. They look like old sparkly chests and are red. When you click on a cursed chest, waves of monsters start spawing all around you and you must kill thems. This happen for about 30 seconds and more amnd more monsters will spawn (faster each time). After the wave have all spawned, the chest will drop loot : a minimum of 3 rares or better items. I also plan to add some unique items that can only drop in cursed chests.

2. Blessed chests

Blessed chests are an improved version of old Sparkly chests (wich will be removed from the game). Blessed chests are the rarest of all new rewards, but when you find one, you will be happy. They look like old sparkly chests, but are green. When you open a blessed chest, you immediately get from 4 to 8 rares or better items. In addition, I also plan to add some unique items that can only be found in blessed chests. But that's not all ! When you open the chest, you (and nearby allies) also get a buff that last for 5 minutes (+30% skill damage, + 100% magic find or +30% defense). This buff cannot be stripped by foes unless you die.

3. Altars of challenges

Theses altar are here to test your character. When you click on it, monsters will start to spawn all around you slowly, and it will be faster and faster. Monsters that spawn will be different based on where the altar is, and it can spawn veteran monsters as well. Altars of challenges doses give loots themselfs, but monsters that spawn do. Also, once monsters stop spawning (after 30 seconds) you and nearby allies will get a buff (I haven't yet decided what it will be, but I guess something like +30% faster hit recovery, +30% attack and cast speeds or +100% experience for 5 minutes).

4. Guardians of shadows

You may encounter this guy during your travel. When he see you, he will try to attack and will always try to not be in melee with you. He can teleport and summon shadows from the realm of shadow to help him. When you kill him, you will get at least 3 rares or better items. There is also a chance that a portal leading to the realm of shadows open when he die. What will you find inside ? It's up to you to find it !



That is all for now ;) I hope you will like theses small things once they will be avaiable. (For beta testers, it will be in next build !) If you have some ideas that I could add to the mod, feel free to tell me thems :) This is for me a way to make progress when it come to enemies IA, how to use thems and what I can do with thems and it look like there is a lot of things possible !

Sounds awesome! So did you find a way to spawn superuniques/bosses (Guardians of shadows) in random areas? Or your areas are not randomly generated? I was looking for a way to do that.

All the maps are presets so nope, I did not find a way to do that.

This ideas sounds awesome,

spawn randomly uniques/bosses e.tc would require ce. It's not hard add however :)

This sounds awesome! This mod has more potential, to feel like a new game, than any early stage mod I've seen. Wonderful job Xaphan. I know that a lot is d3 inspired but the twists you come up with are very nice. Always happy to see what you've come up with.

I always welcome if you have more ideas I could add to make maps more interresting to explore.

Here is a change that will probably make some people happy :
I've changed the map where you have to find Cain. He can now spawn in one of 3 set spawn location, and each location have a similar look (like where you find the cow king in the normal game). So you now need to search for theses location and basically have 1 chance out of 3 to find cain trapped there. No more searching on the whole map only to find that you missed that little corner where Cain was hidden ;)

This should make this part less tedious hopefully !

Looks really promising.
+1 for the Cain's part, missed him a few times, really annoying to run over the map multiple times for finding him. Gotta say he's really good at hide and seek xD.

Awesome changes Xaphan! Once I'm done with Nezeramontias I hope I will have some time to delve more deeply into your mod as well!
