Announcing : Version 6.00 PUBLIC BETA

Hey everyone !

It has been a long time since I haven't released anything. But today, I can finally announce you that I will release a PUBLIC beta of version 6.00 soon ! Version 6.00 is a major hoverhaul of almost everything in the mod, and this is why it take so much time for me to release it. But it's needed to make the mod better, and for me to set up things for future content.

When the beta will be avaiable ?

Well, I have no exact date, but I hope to be able to release it in April.

What will be included in the beta ?

You will be able to enjoy all 5 acts just like the current released version. You will also be able to experiment the changes that have been made, such a the new skills for each classes, the new mana system, changes to maps (cursed chests and the like), new generation of items, and everything else you can see in the current changelog.

What will NOT be in the beta ?

You will only be able to play as a Warrior, a Sorceress, a Huntress or a Necromancer. Others classes will not be avaiable to play. New map features and rework will only be done in act 1. Others acts haven't been altered. Unique, sets and runewords will be dissabled, so you will not be able to craft/make/drop thems. And monsters will not be edited in this beta (except a few). Other than that, everything else should be in!

Will characters from this beta be compatible with final version 6.00 ?

It is very likely that they will NOT be compatible.

Can we share our ideas/feedbacks etc anywhere ?

Yes and you are very encouraged to do so. When the beta will be released, I will open topics here on the keep where you will be able to posts anything you want to help me make version 6.00 better, bugs you find, balances issus, or anything else.

Hey Xaphan!

As always, we'll gladly help you out with tests and stuff. I am a little curious about your intention for this beta though. With so much disabled, what would you like us to test? Act 1 only?
Wouldn't it make more sense to wait with the beta till more stuff is ready? I know the game can be pretty difficult without some of those awesome uniques.

I appreciate your efforts and I'm looking forward to the release. This is not a complaint.

tests are done to find bugs and or problems with skills, maps, etc.

The most important part you can do is test balance of skills for each class. While this has been done to some extend in closed beta tests, I have modified a lot of things since then, and some things may not be balanced well anymore and could need some tweaks here and there. Also, Necromancer is completely new, it has never been tested before and will probably need a lot of changes to be balanced.

And for maps modification being only in act 1, it's to show what it is, see if poeple like it, if I have put enough of thems, too little or too much, balance thems and other things. I better do the tests on only 1 acy as this can take lot of time if I have to rework all over again on 5 acts instead of 1.

About uniques items, don't worry, the game is completable without thems. Difficulty has been altered and many things work differently so it's almost a new experience. Also, while they are thecnically unique items, artefacts can be crafted and work in the beta.

Lastly, I'm releasing this beta for the public because it has been more than a year since I have released anything so poeple can see there is progress and the mod is not dead :)

Yeah all versions of the mod, starting from version 2.00 if I recall correctly (including this upcoming beta) do work with D2SE, so it won't be an issue :)

Any update when it will be released? I decided to check mod again, but if 6.0 drops soon, i might be wait. It's April 19 currently.

Yes, i see, but i\m talking about public beta exactly, not final release. He said, that April possible be the time, yet it's 20th and no word.

just check this site once a day or so and find something to tie you over it will be released when its released. Or has patience really become a lost virtue? this holds true for the public beta also.

Hi ! ^^

Yeah I know I wanted to release this in April and we are mid May already... I just diden't had the time, and, to be completely honest, I ran ou of ideas for necromancer skills so I was somehow blocked. But even while I have little time to mod, I still continue when I can and hopefully will be able to release this beta soon. I would be sad myself if everything I did since version 5.03 would never be released.

Here is what's done for the necromancer as of now :
- 1st mastery is almoste complete, only 1 skill left to do and I already planned it
- 2nd mastery is not started yet, but I've planned 8 of the 10 skills
- Specialities are already planned but can only be worked on once masteries are done. It's fast to do so this won't take much time.

Once necromancer is done, there is only very little left for the beta to be ready. I will do my best so you won't have to wait for too long.

Yay! Can't wait for it!

EDIT: With the unique item rebalance, might do some general changes and release it then. It'll get easier to balance them once more people test them out and find the strong and weak spots of the items.

Ok just some news :)

The necromancer rewamp is going well.
1st mastery (death) is complete
2nd mastery (now called demonism) currently has 7/10 spells done.
Specialities aren't in the game yet, I need to complete masteries first.

I think I will be done with the necromancer in 1-2 weeks, if all go well. As I already said, once that's done, there is only little to do before I can release the beta :)

I will give more infos when it's time.

I can't wait to see how your mod does in action. You've got very interesting ideas about it. I've been playing a great mod median xl but it lacks of classic feeling of Diablo II, what can not be said about yours, so keep up good work :)

Hi !

Both masteries of the necro are complete. Some spells took more time than I expected... I've also prepared all specialities (Names, effects, groups, all I need), so I just need to put thems in game now. I think I should be done during the comming week, or the next one, but thecomming week is more likely. So you can expect Version 6.00 Beta soon :)
