MAC/mpq version of modversion 1.8

I have uploaded the mpq version of the Middle Earth Mod version 1.8 here:

This is primarily meant to be used by Mac users who cannot run the game with -direct -txt. If PC users want to use it (for example if they are running the no cd loader) you are free to try it but be sure to still download the -direct -txt version and extract the two DLL files into your directory.

It's a mystery why Mac users have trouble downloading files with their browsers. I thought the IE was generally the same... but be it as it is, there seems to be some weird problem. Email me and I will try to send you the file. Make sure the email adress you use can accept files larger than 4 MB (gmx and yahoo for example don't) since the mpq version of the mod is about 4.2 MB large

Hmm I upoaded the MPQ File to my site in 3 different typed (mpq, txt and zip) Maybe you can dowload one of these and rename it ( the zip is not packed just renamed in zip)
But hurry, my webspace there will soon be unavailable because I changed my provider...

In your Diablo 2 folder there must be a file called something like "DiabloIIPatch". Make a backup copy of it and replace it with the one you downloaded.

Hi All,

Just a short tip for my fellow Mac users, if you are using Netscape , control-click (or right click if you have a 2 button mouse) on the link in Khan's post and choose "Save Link As" command from the pop-up menu, that will download the .mpq file to your Mac.

You can also press and hold the option key while clicking on a link to a file. It works in any web browser, from what I can tell (Netscape/IE/Safari/Mozilla).

Alrighty...I am using OS X, and I can't get the mod to work.

I downloaded the mpq. I renamed it "Diablo II Patch (Carbon)" and replaced my original file with it. Started up D2, saw the Blizzard and Blizzard North splash screens, and then it came up with the normal D2X startup screen...not the ME startup screen. "Ok..." I thought "Maybe I need to start a new character or something" So I select SP, and then the game crashes out on me.


So...ummm...what now?

If somebody will point me in the right direction for isntructions, I will even create the sucker.

I love MEMod, and my Mac is definitely my preferred gaming machine.

Hello from France,
I would be so happy to try the Mac version of Midle earth Mod for Diablo 2 but since weeks I get problems to download the mod. I just go in a strange german site that has nothing to do with the MeMod or I get a Textfile I cannot save on a file without crashing my brownser (Safari) . Thanks a lot for helping me to get this so much awaited Mod
