I have made stat potions before. I am just thinking about if i should still implement them because they could make the game imbalanced but it is a great way to improve your character after beating the game and it is something to do.

true

but why not

1:make them rare (only sometimes drop)

2:make the stat boosts low

3:not include them (up to you)

anyone would probaly help

Yeah I will add stat potions. But they will be quite rare and will only be droppable after the player has completed hell.

Well if you're staying in the Ten Towns region to start with then Kuldahar's always been one of my favorites so that'd maybe a nice act 2 unless you were wanting to leaving the desert setting in which can maybe something from Dark Sun would work better. Kuldahar is populated pretty much the same as Act 1 (Easthaven) but maybe with some undead around the vale of shadows region not to mention some tougher orc elites, orogs and maybe other monstrosities that run with them like bugbears, trolls, ogres etc

I guess it really depends a lot of your intended plot as to the progression of the locations. Not much point in me having act 5 end in Sithicus (well Soth was originally in FR) if your plot has you overthrowing a tyrant in Neverwinter ya know?
If you want me to miss you, you have to GO AWAY first...

Just an idea - for the classes, why not take a look at the Prestige classes? I think there's have been enough of fighters/wizards/clerics in rpgs.

Amazon -> Arcane Archer
Assassin -> Blade Dancer, Assassin (or multipe-class them!)
Sorceress, Nerco, Druid -> Archmage, Dragon Disciple, Pale Walker, Arcane Trickster
Barbarain -> Bard (a blast from the past from Hellfire), Duelist, Kensai, Monk
Paladin -> Eldtrich Knight,
Druid -> Horizon Walker

Just some random suggestions.

This mod sounds wonderful! I will do anything to help. I have a vast amount of information about the Forgotten Realms and the AD&D RP system. My brother and I still play AD&D, infact my brother is so into it he has created his own RP system and realm. He has created a Prestige class system and I am sure he will be glad to share his ideas. If you have any questions about skills and things, please don't hesitate to ask.

BTW, for suggestions about the acts...
Act2- Why not go to Amn itself and the quests would be something like doing the mines and ridding them of the infesting Kolbolds instead of doing the sewers...so on so forth...
act3- no idea...
act4- Venture into the abyss of course!!
act5- To the mirrored tower we head, but wait, the tower is a crystal *hint hint* of all knowing power, hmm i wonder what that sounds like?

Hi

Thx for your ideas. I like the Act 2 ideas with the mines and kobolds. And the ACt 5 tower "Cryshal-Tirith" if I am correct :)

Good eye my friend. Also I have been thinking, maybe you should add in a "random" stats roller for when you first create your character like real AD&D. I put quotations around random because for each class the ranges on each stat would be different. Example; The "Barbarian" class you have made will have a range between 30 and 50 for strength where as the "Necromancer" class would have a range between 15 and 25 for strength. If it were this way it would give a moreunique feeling to the character. If you give me time I could give you a list of all the classes and their ranges.

Cool idea.

I really want the mod to feel like Forgotten Realms and AD&D and having ranges on stats will fit perfectly. Now I need to see how to implement this idea (hope it doesn' t require Code Editing :( )

Keep coming with the ideas! :D

Beginning stats are assigned through charstats.txt, and those fields are not calc fields. So it looks like code editing to me.

It shouldn't be that hard of code editing though Myhrginoc... Any whom, as I have said I would make a list of all of the classes and their starting stats...

Amazon:
Strength: 20-30
Dexterity: 25-45
Vitality: 25-35
Energy: 15-20
Starting Health points: 65-80
Starting Mana points: 10-30
Starting Stamina points: 88-114
Assassin:
Strength: 25-35
Dexterity: 30-50
Vitality: 20-30
Energy: 20-25
Starting Health points: 50-70
Starting Mana points: 20-35
Starting Stamina points: 124-156*
Barbarian:
Strength: 40-65
Dexterity: 20-35
Vitality: 25-40
Energy: 5-10
Starting Health points: 90-135
Starting Mana points: 10-15
Starting Stamina points: 127-173
Druid:
Strength: 15-30
Dexterity: 20-25
Vitality: 35-55§
Energy: 20-35
Starting Health points: 124-158§
Starting Mana points: 30-55
Starting Stamina points: 74-111
Necromancer:
Strength: 10-15
Dexterity: 15-35
Vitality: 15-20
Energy: 25-45
Starting Health points: 45-75
Starting Mana points: 50-85
Starting Stamina points: 98-121
Paladin:
Strength: 25-40
Dexterity: 20-30
Vitality: 25-35
Energy: 10-20
Starting Health points: 85-115
Starting Mana points: 15-35
Starting Stamina points: 109-132
Sorceress:
Strength: 5-15
Dexterity: 15-25
Vitality: 15-20
Energy: 50-85
Starting Health points: 40-55
Starting Mana points: 110-165
Starting Stamina points: 74-97
The marked stat are made this way to fit the continuing theme of FR.
*I have given the Assassin so much stamina because of the fact that in the Realms an assassin never stands still to long... or else... :behead: :n:
§I have given the Druid so much vitality and Health because the druids of the Realms believed that not only does their life-force blood flow through them but their nature friends' life-force blood flows through them too.

That depends on how comfortable any mod maker is about code editing. A person familiar with txt files and lost at sea with assembly language would consider the problem to be much more difficult than somebody who knows the ins and outs of analyzing D2 executables. Even for an experienced code modder, there are several small hurdles:

• finding the place where charstats is called in forming a character

• making a function to generate a random number between X and Y (there is one in Book of Lore to copy)

• calling your rnd(X,Y) function for each such stat

None of these are major by themselves, but they will require knowing how to pull custom code modules into the game. There are several ways to do this, which a search of the Code Editing Forum would disclose.

But when a modder writes hope it doesn't require Code Editing :( I am inclined to think this is more work than he wants to undertake.

Update

Hi ppl. Haven't posted a update in a while. Anyway, it's not really a happy update. To get to the point I have been trying to build the Easthaven map for the Act 1 town. I have been making it for a month now to realise that it's been for nothing. I have completely done it wrong and cannot do it because i am not good with graphics. I am in need of someone that is good with graphics too create floor and wall tiles. They would need too have a little bit of ds1 and dt1 knowledge too. Sorry for the delay and stupidity from me. Anyone who thinks that they would be good for this position please contact me or post here. ;)
