Runewords don't work at all (confused)

Runewords don't work at all (confused)

I am using 1.13c and I was trying to add some gem/runewords and discovered they didn't work. I then tested regular runewords and they don't work. I then used a fresh extraction of runes.txt and that didn't work, Soooo - I deleted the runes.txt and runes.bin to make the game run that from default and that doesn't fix it either. I've got no idea why this is happening, help?

Make sure you have no blank lines in any items.txt
That was my issue before.

I have checked all my .txt files and have no blank lines. ><

Edit: and Runes.txt is not currently a txt in my data folder ( to clarify )

its actually got nothing to do with blank lines per se, its if you have blank entries in any of the code columns (any blanks should be filled with xxx)

Looks like I might have a bad reference or something relating to misc.txt, if I delete or modify the last line of it, my game crashes on character load. How would I best figure such an issue out? (it was blankish/unused)

Edit: My only real item changes (added lines) are extra gems. I will look into this...
Edit: Gamble.txt can go die... It works now thanks for telling me what to look for

are you using -direct -txt ?
are you using the fixed 1.13c txt in an mpq? cause this works only in txt and not in bin
if you using D2Excel it likes to mess up some times the first line in the txt file
check all first line first column in the txt's you have edited
ex: properties.txt
code: ac
if there is something else then ac like "0"
when you make the runeword enigma it will say enigma and have no prop
i messed up about 3 files up this way. in this excel the shortcuts of the Keys like CTRL+something can mess up the file easy
and from that point i started to work slowly with my mouse not using those shortcuts.
i changed from MS excel to D2Exel cause i was not able to disable formulas in MS Excel
the formulas messed up the whole txt files.
