treasureclassex.mpq and NoDrop=0

First of all...
I want to apologize because I'm positive that I'm not the first person to come here asking about this, but...
I have searched for this info here and can't seem to find it.

I'm trying to edit my Patch_D2.mpq so that I can take advantage of the nodrop=0 mod.
I have opened the archive in an MPQ editor and found the treasureclassex.txt. I have edited the txt file so that every entry in the NoDrop column reads "0." I have tested my edits using the data folder and -direct -txt method. And my edits are working. But when I try to close the Patch_d2.mpq and place my edited version in my Diablo II directory, my drops are vanilla. My edits are no longer working. I can only seem to get it to work with the data folder. If I try to use my edited Patch_D2.mpq, it's as if the game isn't reading my edits from the mpq. When I reopen my modded mpq, my edits are there. Can anyone explain what I might be doing wrong? Thank you for any help!

Joe

Are you including the .bin file in your mpq?

-direct -txt method should not use after you had done that.

Hello and thank you for the replies.
Yes, the .bin file is still in the MPQ along with my edited txt file. Once I put my edited MPQ in the Diablo 2 folder, I removed the -direct -txt from my shortcut. I even tried running Diablo 2 from the Diablo II.exe directly. But my edits don't translate in game. I don't understand... :(

Guys, I'm sorry... I figured it out. I dug around further on this forum and found the answer I needed. I wasn't creating the "new" bin file before recompiling the MPQ.

I needed to put the edited txt file into the data\global\excel folder inside my Diablo II directory, add the -direct -txt parameters to my desktop shortcut, and then go into a game to procure a "new" treasureclassex.bin file which can then be found inside the Diablo II\data\global\excel location. This new bin file must replace the original bin file inside the Patch_D2.MPQ along with the edited txt file before recompiling the MPQ and placing it into the Diablo II folder. Thanks for help !
