Best Diablo 2 version for modding

Hello dear modders,

Could you tell me by your experience which version is better for modding? As I can see most tutorials are made for 1.1x. That means that all versions 1.10,1.11,1.13 are supported right?

I would highly recommend either 1.10f or 1.13c . I myself work on 1.10f as many others, because there are probably a lot more plugins and code support available.

Agreed on 1.10f. Although with basemod and whists work 1.13c is an easy second and you can do anything you want with either of these versions.

If I use version 1.10 is it possible somehow to insert items/runewords added on 1.13c?

Also Darkquake can you enlighten me about the basemod and whist's mod you are referring to?

It's relatively easy to add stuff like items and runewords into older versions.
