? on using older versions of d2

A friend of mine sent me a mod (in mpq format) that runs off of 1.08. I'd like to try it out, but every time I try and load it up it crashes. Same thing happens when i try and run Nefarius's unbalance mod (runs on 1.09b). How should I go about re configuring D2 to handle these older versions?

Do i need older .dll's or something?

I'm not sure what Nefarius' Unbalance mod does(besides unbalance the game) or if it has dll changes, but if it does, then yes, you would likely need the 1.09b .DLL files.

As for the 1.08 mod, you'll need to downgrade your whole Diablo II to 1.08...

But how is what i really need to know. I do not know how to downgrade versions as of yet. Are all the files i would need in the file center, and if so which need to be changed?

It's too bad that it isn't as simple as swapping patches.

For downgrading to 1.09B, just swap the dll files which should be found in the FileCenter. For downgrading to 1.08, I'm pretty sure you need to reinstall the expansion and then download the 1.08 patch from blizzard's ftp site.

i found th 09b dll, but was beginning to wonder where to find the 08 stuff.
i just hope i dont need an 08.dll cos there isn't one in the file center here.
Hopefully Blizzard will have it.
