33 Mana per kill is awesome. Now let's hope your bad luck kicks in and get all that hard work destroyed.

Lol

Had to redo a Slither Quad (my kid sold it :()

Added another Vision and 2 Breeze Charms

When I get high enough I have enough for 2 Toy Charms :D. So since she has Piercing Attack, its insane how often bolts come out lmao

EDIT: Dont for now, kids want me to put them to bed lol. Omega hit Lvl 22 and cleared Den. With all the CtC she has its like a blanket of bolts sometimes. Large concentration of mobs die quick

@Hellwolf Competition is good. But do you really have to threaten JrEye with bad luck?

@JrEye: Awww, too bad about the sold Slither... Hope the kid learned his/her lesson by not toying with Daddy's computer!

The Druid's Raven Skill does 6-10 damage for 15 attacks. Can summon 2 Ravens.

How could you have possibly got smoked? Unless the unique monster rolled Holy Fire or Shock and you approached it? Like I have seen how brutal things like Fire Enchanted and Lightning Enchanted are, but this is why you have a Cold Rogue do Baal's Cold wave to knock the monster back. I also think you can do knockback with bows on Unique monsters too.

I think JrEye has now cursed all our amazons with the "Curse of JrEye". A curse that will continue to haunt our blond hair javelin and bow fighters until we get that person to level 10000 and slay Hell Ball.

It kinda sucks too since you had all that chance to deal Charged Bolt stacked up to deal blankets of death.

Personally, I suggest you do an easier class like the Necro or Druid first (although it looks like you attempted the druid earlier and had some results), so you can gather the armaments for your other characters.

But if it makes you feel any better, I will do some motivational sayings and say this: YOU WILL NOT HAVE BAD LUCK ANYMORE, YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY BAD LUCK ANYMORE, YOU WILL NOT HAVE BAD LUCK ANYMORE! I did it with my friend when he was failing Parenting in High School and he got 60.

You're doing great, JrEye! Just another half a dozen deaths and you will have a commanding lead, THEN you will be ready to start the Septathlon proper. I am, however, sorry that you lost the blanket of CB. :( Oh well, at least you still have the runes for the two Toy charms in shared stash, awaiting the advancement of whomever is next on the roster. Good luck, mate!

--------------------
Sleepy the Amazon
Contrary to the immediately preceding title, this update will start with a brief word on Happy's efforts to hand command over to Sleepy, who will hopefully do the job more efficiently than he did. It took something very near 30 hours to gather the resources for, and then make, the 200 scrolls he wanted to hand over to Sleepy on a silver platter, but Happy did it with a song in his heart and blood on his Cuisinart Fineries! In the process, he plowed through another 185 levels, putting him at 728. But enough about him.

The first thing Sleepy needed to do was to whittle her inventory items down to the bare minimum, which were her Dire Wolves charm, her damage jewels, and her life/mana jewel to which she's been applying the odd cube scroll. Even that one could technically be tossed, and probably will be in the near future.

Next, following in Happy's footsteps, she composed a list of Needful Things:
  • Slows Target
  • Crushing Blow
  • Deadly Strike – Yes, she has a high chance to trigger a Critical Strike, but it's not 100% yet.
  • Reduce Damage %
  • Open Wounds
  • Faster Hit Recovery – For Blood Witches
  • Prevent Monster Heal
  • Ignore Target's Defense – Covered through her current use of Shards of Accuracy.
  • Knockback
  • Hit Blinds Target
  • Freezes Target
Unlike Happy, who cannot abide the existence of Knockback or Hit Blinds Target on his gear, Sleepy lusts after those things viscerally! Consequently, Zy-El's Marker is an ideal item for her – it satisfies a whole fistful of her needs at once. It covers the aforementioned KB and HBT as well as Slows Target, Prevent Monster Heal, and Freezes target. That leaves only Crushing Blow, Deadly Strike, and Open Wounds.

Browsing through the runewords over and over and over led me to the conclusion that she could either have gone for a big additional chunk of minimum damage with the Sweet runeword, or for covering Open Wounds with the War runeword. Everything else that looked interesting had either Flee or a non-Static CtC on it. A third option would have been just to leave the sockets on her bow free for the time being. Instead of making the decision right away, she instead applied another “Mega3 to any weapon” arcane scroll to it, bringing the minimum damage up over 1200 and adding another 16 skill levels.

With enough Scrolls having been allocated to give her a 20/20 life jewel, she added “upgrade my Pride runeword torso armor” to her list, as well as “get rid of these nasty Mist gloves!” Actually, they are very nice gloves and they have served her well, apart from the CtC Charged Bolt on them. Of the three top choices for gloves (Word of Assassin, Zy-El's Vice, and crafted), she chose the Vice Vambraces. The enhancements to life that the Word gloves offer would soon be a pittance in the presence of the 20/20 jewel, and the ability to add DS and CB to crafted gloves would have only saved her two Scrolls. Vice, on the other hand, will eventually save several Scrolls with their array of elemental damages.

As for a torso armor, Zy-El's Decorum was a slam-dunk. Its massive defense (which she desperately needed after ditching her Shield Minor ChoMs), Magic Absorb, and +Skills are always welcome.

With the planning and the preliminaries seen to, she felt relatively assured that she had covered all of her bases, so she and Happy went ahead and made her first %EG jewel, her second %EG jewel with added %MF, her 20/20 life jewel with added mana, max mana %, FHR, and Damage Reduction, and her CB/DS/OW Jewel which was subsequently socketed into a Zy-El's Marker. The gold jewels went into a %EG Narrow Charm and the life jewel went into her Dire Wolf Small Charm. Finally, she decided to go ahead with 6-socketing her bow and making it into a Sweet runeword with the strength and strength BoCL removed. The bow's dexterity and dexterity BoCL can be removed when her damage maxes out. Same deal with the vitality and vitality BoCL when her life gets close to capping. The real pressure-release for her life capping will be the Life BoCL on her belt, which can be removed a little at a time all the way up to level 10k.

It is interesting, perplexing, and more than a little unnerving that her bow now reads “Adds 400-800 damage.” Before converting it to a runeword, it read “+1251 to Minimum Damage.” The listed damage on the bow is 1671-1672, so I know that the previous damage is still there, but the fact that the mod lines have glitched is what worries me. The thing could be a time bomb now, just waiting to crash and burn the entire character. What, me worry? :|

So what did all of this cost the team?
  • Full %EG Jewel – 71
  • Full %EG Jewel – +71 = 142
  • 20 life/20 max life% – +40 = 182
  • 1200% FHR – +2 = 184
  • Dmg Rdx – +1 = 185
  • CB/DS/OW - +3 = 188
  • %MF - +8 = 196
  • Zy-El's Marker/Vice/Decorum - +3 = 199
  • Mana/max mana % - +2 = 201
My calculations were off by a single Scroll. 201 Scrolls is not too terrible a price, I suppose – she received a helluvalotta upgrade from them!

Her new gear put her around 4.5 million life, with Guided Arrow doing over 40k damage and Multiple Shot around 25k. Excited about her new leadership role, she headed out the gates of Harrogath at p64, something Happy could not really do. His life did not support such a risk, for one thing. The other problem for him was drop density. As a melee class, monsters tend to gravitate to him while he kills other monsters, which means that he ends up with a big pile of stuff at one location, rather than spread out more evenly over a larger area. As you all know, it is quite difficult to sort through huge piles of stuff, as it does not all get displayed at the same time. The most efficient solution for Happy was to simply limit the players setting to p16, which limits the drops, which means he does not have to either sort through stuff by pacing back and forth or just walk away and leave gold, Demon Boxes, and rare charms to rot!

Sleepy, on the other hand, has virtually zero worries about monsters all dying in the same place. Multiple Shot slaughters them where they stand, usually off-screen, before they have a chance to congregate. Another reason to love the 'Zon. :D

She progressed nicely, making good time and making dozens and dozens of trips to town to dump her gold. As she passed by Wayside of Woe, she decided to step in and see how well her mass of life would hold up under fire from some real bad boys. Everything went fine, monsters were dropping like flies under the barrage of 170 arrows per Multiple Shot, until the named Chimeras showed up. Even those were not terrible, though they took quite a few Guided Arrows to bring down. Then one of them would just not drop. It's life fell to about 15-20% under the weight of Sleepy's... what? Static Field, I guess? That's the only thing that really makes sense. If Crushing Blow were activating, it would keep dropping the Chimera's life, though at a lesser and lesser rate. Anyway, after it dropped that low, it's life would not budge. I thought that she had surpassed the physical damage cap (total damage from Guided was over 54k at that point), so she hit town and removed all of the static and per-level dexterity from her bow. She went back and the bloody thing still would not drop. That's when I noticed that it was cold- and physical-immune. Perceptive, ain't I? She tossed a few dozen Immolation Arrows at it, causing its life to finally start dropping ever so slowly. At that point it actually landed a blow on her, taking half of her life away. That was enough!! Out she went and resumed her trek up the mountainside.

That little romp netted her over 130 levels! That's amazing for just a few minutes of drawing a bowstring. The gold intake was abysmal, however, so it's onward to the Worldstone Keep for some more gold farming. The quandary that is eating holes in my brain is how to proceed. Sure, making life jewels for everyone should be a piece of cake, and some melee jewels for those who need them is not much more work, but what about gold jewels? On the one hand, if she doesn't make them for anyone else, that saves dozens of hours of farming. On the other hand, if the other characters don't have those jewels, then all of the time they spend leveling will be completely unproductive. That really is a tough one for me. The problem is that I can't get a handle on quantifying it. Once I can find a way to measure the efficiency of one method to the efficiency of the other, I can work out the math and make a decision... but so far that method of measurement has eluded me. :x

For now, however, as mentioned, it's time for Sleepy to plow through the rest of Act V and amass warehouses full of Zy-El Scrolls.

Good luck to all of you in your Zy-Eling adventures!

Caretaker-Chibz the Druid

Gained a level (at 7) then transmuted some of the charms into my stash for a small Rare charm that offers Level 4 Skeleton Mage charges for a level 20 requirement :!:

I decided to transfer it to Commander Fan so I can have early access to Mages 25 levels before he normally is supposed to.

Commander-Fan the Necromancer

With the assistance of Mages, nothing much has changed, but I did up the dosage to Players32. The Skeletons are still holding the line vs. the upgraded monsters, but still have problems with Misshapen, Bone Warriors and Rock Golems. However, I feel Corpse Explosion and Weaken will turn the tides against these beasts.

I made a better Booster Belt using a 2 socket Belt Charsi was selling. Gained a few extra HP/mana and more defense. I gave my sash one to the Rogue (sorry but Rogues can use my dirty underwear ANY day).

I also got lucky when making some rares jewelry. I got an amulet with +2 Sorc Skills and another +2 for the Fire Skills tree with a level requirement of 50. The +2 Fire won't help much at 50, since I stop using the Crossbow on Steroids at approximately 25-30; Charged Bolt becomes my Multi-shot on Steroids! Then again, +2 to Warmth doesn't seem so bad.

With Skeleton Mastery, having Mages that early could be pretty sweet, even with only four of them! Congratulations on that piece of luck. :)

It does. Currently, the Skeleton Mastery is at 21. Which isn't too bad for a Level 39 with only the Departed wand to add Necromancer skills. I have some 2 socket heads, but my best earliest one can't be used until 60 (adds +2 Golem Mastery and +1 Skeleton Mage).

Commander-Fan The Necromancer

Got Corpse Explosion, it's only 2 yards so it will be awhile before it becomes REALLY brutal. I can also use Amn Runes which translates to being allowed to create the Pride Runeword for him. Pride is a 3 socket armor runeword that offers some extremely beneficial effects. I'll save Weaken for next level.

Thanks to a Flawed Gem to Elixir, I got my 3rd Elixir to make my first Healing Minor Chom. Soon I can get a second one going and make a Master CHOM.

There is always some good in tragedy. Now, we just need to do something about that bad luck with your survival.

Commander-Fan the Necromancer

I got a Puppy Drool unique ring (contains 40 charges of Spirit Wolf Level 1) from a Rare Jewel to Puppy Drool, also with a req level of 3 :!: One Spirit Wolf doesn't look like much, but it can decimate pre-Black Marsh effectively. It also has 240 HP without modifiers, but comes with a high Attack Rating and Armor Class values.

I am still juggling which of my Level 1s I want to give it to so I can use that item to blitz for early levels. I am thinking the Amazon so I can have a distraction from her, kinda like what people do with Sai the Ranger in Enfos (her ultimate summons a wolf that can hold the line while she punishes enemies from a distance with arrows). I can also start my Amazon at any time since I acquired a Long Bow and Short Battle Bow with sockets from Shadow Rogues I "blinded and raped" (thank you Dim Vision).

With the help of the Zy-el Runeword Browser and a key for one of my Amn Runes, I took a 2 socket head that didn't have anything on it and made a Dead Giveaway Preserved Head and transmuted my Hsarus for Collector Points. For those who don't know this runeword:
  • Made from Tal + Thul, Level Requirement of 35
  • +4 to Necromancer Skills (increases my skill gain to 7)
  • 25-50 Poison Damage over 2 Seconds (innate power)
  • +47 Defense (brings defense to 51)
  • +144 to Life (Life is now 533)
  • All resistances +22, bonus +30 to Cold and Poison
  • Damage Reduced by 59 :!:
  • Repairs itself every 20 seconds
That increases my army size to 24 (myself, 18 skeletons, a Clay Golem, 4 mages from the charm, and the rogue).
Skeletons Warriors now have 662 HP and deal 126-141 damage
The Golem's damage improved to 96-172 damage/hit.
The Bone Shield now protects me from 3000 damage
The Corpse Explosion now has a radius of 3 yards. Needs more radius though.

With the above outcome, I finally have no problem with Misshapen, Bone Warriors and Rock Golems, which got me to Dark Wood.

In Dark Wood, I found a 2 os +1 Arctic Blast Wolf Head for later use and used some cards to make a +1 All Skills ammy that also adds +3 to Elemental Skills :!:

I managed to get the Scroll of Inifuss... and what a fuss it was! Treehead Woodfist's minions and himself trashed my skeletons, but he couldn't do anything against the Mages and Golem and fell at their mercy. I tested my Skeletons against Black Rogues and they did well, so I should have no problem crushing Tristram's Burning Dead hurdle, unless they spawn with shields :(

I'll call it a day. I just got the Black Marsh WP and the only threat there was a Lightning Enchanted Monolith, but it wasn't too bad since the Golem was taking the brunt of the electrical damage.

For an Amazon, both those types are pretty simple. But I suggest you try to evade those monsters until you get a Cold Rogue to do push backs.

In my case, I won't have to worry too much since a Spirit Wolf can keep the enchanted foe back while I pelt it from a distance with arrows, at least until I get Magic Arrow to a high level (along with the mana to combat the drains...).

You should probably consider investing in Knockback.

Edit: Score updated. A tad bit closer to 21st...

That is why I like necromancer summons: Summon Resist! Until then, I have Life Tap when I get it.

I have only fought 2 Lightning Enchanted monsters with my Necromancer. The first one was a Dark Ranger, which doesn't have a whole lot of HP, even with the multiplied life. The second one was worse: A monolith :!: My only advantage was that a Clay Golem was standing at an angle that was absorbing two lightning bolts. That one monster cost me a lot of Skeletons and a Mage, but at least I am alive.

Edit: I didn't pay attention and got smoked by a Dark Lancer group while my skeletons were forming the line on Players16 *facepalms*. That puts me up for Death 1 :( . The Corrupted Rogue monster class has virtually no HP, but they are a nuisance at higher levels due to the elemental damages and the high Attack Ratings at high levels. The dumb part is all I had to do to avoid death was keep about 7 steps away from the line...

I was 8 levels away from Mages too. But luckily I kept enough of my old stuff, but it won't be an easy run to level 20 again. I'll sacrifice my Puppy Drool and utilize Players64-128 on Blood Moor to get to 20. I still got some blank wands and heads to remake the words I had before.

Lots of nice updates from everyone since I last posted and rest assured I read them all in detail and was fascinated and entertained by them all :)

Clersius....Is there a danger of a little OCD with your Barb :?: :P It's nice to see you are finally up to date with your updates. I was beginning to think you had maybe got as far as starting the real Insanity levels and was worried that I might have to abandon "The Borg" and go back to the "We Hate Everyone" team. As soon as I start to feel pressure on my 2nd spot from you I guess I will have to do that and by the looks of it, that won't be too long. Meantime I will carry on with "The Borg" as I am having too much fun with them.

SevenofSeven (Sorceress/Borg Queen)

Back to it after a few days break and my Gold Find jewel is now at 17,100%. I'll carry on working on this until it gets to 36,000% so another 21 full Zy-El scrolls are required. The main limiting factor as far as time is concerned making the scrolls is not so much collecting Zy runes and loading collectors but rather the time it takes to create/upgrade/gamble rings and buy Hel runes to then make crafted rings and also buying Pul runes and downgrading to Lem for the GF%.

I am itching to get all my team to Act 5 but I am going to curb my enthusiasm and more or less stick to my original plan which is, once the gold find jewel is complete, my sorc will provide crafted jewels with +life and increase maximum life% for all the team. I can then worry about more gold find once this is done and I'll be confident there will be no deaths/near deaths en-route to Act 5 and beyond. It will also be easier and faster to accumulate Zy-El scrolls once the entire collective are in Act 5. For now, it is back to Mephisto runs.

Happy Zy-Elling everyone :)

Short update.

Alot has gone on by little time to write about it. Llauron is back better then ever. He has finished a bunch of Meph runs and is currently at 210. Esten has blown through Act 3 like a girl with claws on her hands. She is currently 168 and feeling mighty good about herself. All peeps are through Act3 and will be moving on to Act4 as soon as I use up my stored scrolls. I'm going to concentrate on a gold jewel for Pol (17k) and a health jewel for Sturm (900%/+6000).

Edit1: After creating her gold jewel (14.4K) Pol has killed Diablo @lvl314 and gathered some much needed cash for the group.

SevenofSeven (Sorceress & Borg Queen)

Finally made my gold find jewel after about 8 hours solid play. Now to do more Mephisto runs but this time concentrating on making life/life% jewels for the collective. I don't know if I'll go as far as 30K + 1050% as that would require 12 megaloads per. character or 84 full Zy-El scrolls + 84 Jah runes and all the crafted amulets and charms that are also required for the recipes. I may just go for 18K + 450% which is half the amount but still a lot to do. It should ensure a decent margin of safety for Acts 3 and 4 at least.

Back to Mephisto runs teleporting.

Happy Zy-Elling :)

Commander-Fan the Necromancer (Take II)

Thanks to the assistance of Players127 and my Spirit Wolf, I got to level 20 again and reclaimed Skeleton Mastery. It was pretty fun to watch my skeletons commit to gang rape vs monsters. Yet, they somehow trample Skeletons at Players127 better than Players1. The plan is I players1 into the area and kill at least 1 monster with the Spirit Wolf. Then I type Players127 and summon an army. I can command up to 12 Skeletons at the moment. My Blood Moor rolls with 4 shrines, 1 unique monster party (the games are all zombies so far) and a fallen group near the Den of Evil.

I was also smart enough to collect like 5 2 socket wands for this emergency. I took one of my crappier ones (the one with just Bone Shield on it) and remade Departed for +3 all nec skills. I'll see about letting a crappy head drop again for a Dead On runeword and I should be back up to par.

I think I'll stay in Blood Moor until I get Mastery to 8-9. This magic number was what I needed to trash Cold Plains, except for Peckers and do some of Den of Evil, with some problems with Tombrats and Returned. But I am gonna do this on Players8-16 to make life easier.

I am a bit steamed about getting killed so stupidly, but it doesn't mean I am out of the tournament :!: If you guys need a reminder of what happened, I basically tried to get an item on Tamoe Highland just as a group of Dark Lancers approached and my skeletons were forming the line. The line was formed too close and 3 Dark Lancers focus attacked on me. It doesn't take a genius what the outcome of Players32 + Bad Lightning Resistance + 3 attacks at once can do, especially with 1000 life. I was then killed in 1 second. To prevent this, I am going to make sure I have positive resistances and Skeleton Mages before I enter Tamoe. I can use the monster groups at Pre-Tamoe to gain the necessary levels. Then attempt Tamoe at Players8-16 instead of 32. Act 1 and Act 5 are a pain in the ass because of crap like this.

Commander-Fan the Necromancer (Take II)

With further assistance of Players127, I reclaimed half of my lost levels and found out my Skeletons can hold well against most of the threats in Cold Plains and crush Blood Moor. My monster roll was:
  • Fallen and Shaman
  • Quill Bears and Rats
  • Spike Fiends
  • Zombies
  • Returned
  • Dark Spearwomen
What I liked was the quality, without the annoyance of Peckers. With 10.5x Experience, that makes leveling VERY easy. I didn't find Bishibosh's camp, but I should have no trouble destroying it. The only problem I had was dealing with the constant resurrecting of Fallen.

For spells, I got Poison Dagger back, but I want Dim Vision before I move to Stony Field and fight Shadow Rogues. Dim Vision renders ranged attacks useless unless the foe approaches melee distance. This helps as the poisoning of my forces is limited to one skeleton at a time when I approach them.

I also replaced my 2 socket Wand I consumed to remake Departed. So I placed it in my shared stash in case it happens again.

To further avenge the loss of Commander Fan the 1st, I used some of the 2 cards I picked up and made an extremely kick ass amulet:
  • +1 to all Skills
  • +159 Defense
  • +6 Strength
  • +457 to Life
I then went on to make another Amulet using a batch of 2 cards for my Rogue mercenary
  • +1 to all Skills
  • +345 Life
  • +1 to Mana
In the conflict with difficult monsters on Players127. I got the PluckEye for Lady-Raven when I start her and a Biggin's Bonnet for my Necromancer.
I am clearing out Den of Evil on Players127 right now. I tested my Skeletons on Peckers and Ogre Demons and decimated them with few casualties. I then tested my Skeletons on Tombrats and were able to crush them with Amplify Damage assistance. I also brought down Corpsefire like the fly he is. Shortly after, I purged the Den of Evil on Players127.

As I entered the Cold Plains cave, I found a 2 socket head with +3 Clay Golem and +2 Amplify Damage. I utilized the sockets and remade Dead Heat for another +3 to all skills. My army size is almost back to what it originally was  I later found a +3 Skeleton Warrior and +2 Skeleton Mage 2 socket wand. I plan to save it for the Dol+Gul set.

After clearing both Cold Plain cave floors (albeit with some difficulty against the Burning Dead at Players127), I launched my second assault against Blood Raven. I didn't have too many problems, but the Bone Warriors had shields and things vs the Mush Heads got time consuming. I was transmuting gems and runes in my inventory in the middle of a battle (not a safe idea in any situation with any skill) and the next thing I knew someone died: It wasn't me, but Blood Raven apparently got destroyed on Players127 like a fly at the hands of my Skeletons. I decided to clear out the Burial Grounds and started the Crypt and Mausoleum.

The only thing bad about fighting in the Crypt and Mausoleum is confined battle space. But I utilized the Clay Golem's ability to summon anywhere at doorways to break deadlocks.

A deadlock situation is where the skeleton spread is forced into a doorway or staircase. This ruins the Skeleton's numbers game and ends with casualties, but it is advantageous when enemies take up these stairs as YOUR numbers can win it. To counter this: You either need to back up and let the enemies come out as your forces fall back, utilize Mages (which I don't have) and use a Golem to block the door to keep the monsters from leaking in, or summon a Golem on the other side past the deadlock and use him to either to distract the other monsters or kill the monster at the doorway to allow Skeletons to move it. In one deadlock and the Clay Golem's 200 damage, it managed to destroy 1 Rock Golem, swat 4 Skeletons and 2 Hungry Dead like flies and even smashed 2 Ogre Demons in a few attacks, with the assistance of Amplify Damage as always. This allowed my skeletons to push in and waste the room. The casualties in this battle was 1 skeleton, which could have been worse had I not summoned a Golem into the battle. Because of these deadlocks, I am going to play this area cautiously as I had past experiences in how devastating the P127 Ogre Demon is with 1 whack. I even had a 250 Druid die on a TCP/IP session from one attack.

After I destroyed Bonebreaker, claimed the treasure chest at Level 41 on Players127 and swapped my current Departed Wand with my earlier made Departed Yew Wand (+3 nec skills, also adds +2 to Skeleton Warrior, +1 to Clay Golem and Weaken), I decided to call it a night and update my score. I am 11 levels away from surpassing Fan the 1st.

Due to my death at Level 52, my score remains unchanged except for 1 death.

On another note: I should consider writing a How to use Summons guide for the Zy-el wiki. What do you guys think?
