Collectors can only be used to cash out for poster rerolls and items that meet the requirements of this quest.

For this chapter: runes, CHOM components, combining collector points and such. Any items can be cashed into the collector for points, which is what I suggest you do with any magic or rares you don't want.

Here's your definitive answer Billy:

You can use collectors to to try and re-roll a minor to an album poster. This is the only thing you can do with collectors at this time.

Try to think of it this way...you have found a mysterious/alien item, a collector, which may have multiple uses but for now your evolution/accumulated knowledge only means you have mastered or discovered by luck and experimentation how to reroll minor posters. In time you will evolve and discover the other outputs of collectors but for now you are stuck with the above.

I would imagine some players have used them to create other items and if they are in the excluded items list as long as they are not used and are stored in the stash I am not going to enforce the ruling too strictly. So if players make "allowed" items and use them then that is okay just as long as "disallowed" items are placed in storage.

Sounds good Al.......I haven't broken any rules, then:)

Edit:

Well, I may be an ignorant newbie, but I think I sure got lucky in my map layouts from the Jail level 1 WP to the Inner Cloister. I should at least have a chance. The Jail WP is a short jaunt around a corner to the stairs to level 2......2 is longer, but I think it can be done. Level 3 is quickest yet, just around a corner. I did discover how much longer it takes to get to the Inner Cloister WP, though, so that may be the true test. At least maybe I'll have some gear to wear by then. I may give this a try real soon. We're level 45, but I think we just might be able to do it.

Tip for you Billy....level right up to level 75 before starting this quest. Give yourself the best possible chance of completing it.

I have thought about it, but sometimes I feel like I'd rather poke my eye out with a rusty nail than keep doing the same areas for whatever length of time it'd take to get to level 74!:) We'll see, though. You no doubt know better than I, but on players 1, I think we might be able to do it.

Billy I really do suggest to get to at least level 70. Those few levels will help make it easier for you to survive the sidequest. Character level has an impact on the hit calculations from monsters.

It is true that I still need to troll for more poster pieces, so I'll naturally level some more doing that. I believe I have two pieces to about 6 posters.

You'll be fine if you got a point in at least Glacial Spike to do what I call "tactical freezing".

Freeze within striking distance of them, then you can evade them. If you have to, you can teleport, but you cannot spam this as 1) You wont have enough mana to do it over and over and 2) You can only cast it when something is within range or monsters are blocking the only way out.

So, I think I may know answers, but thought I'd ask, what's the best way to level up to 70s, this early? I'm guessing ramp up the players setting and maybe do Jail to Inner, or Inner to Catacombs runs.

I'm getting a little tired of clearing and players 127 chest openings. Not sure how many I have left in me.

I do have at least 10 poster sets I have two of now, though. Another question, can all three of these drop this early?:

Simba
Foghorn Leghorn
Dragonball Z
Roo
Charlie Brown
Kirby
Manny
Pikachu
The last two I think are Grover and Hamtaru, but the colors aren't right, compared to the Wiki

Anyhow...you get the picture. Sure seems like some drop a lot more than others. I just want to know if I even have a chance of filling any/all of these.

Edit:

I think I figured out a good place to level.....I just love the new Cathedral! Wow, a goodies bonanza! Level and find tons of stuff, at the same time.

Another question....after upping to players 3, or 4, for a bit, I quit, and went back to 1, as there was so much stuff dropping, it was a big slowdown. Figured I'd take what I could get at p1, then reap the rewards from the p127 chests, etc.
But, the gist of my question is do you vets start ignoring the gazillion yumis that drop? These are getting annoying, though they are worth some cash, at least. Plus, with collectors, I'd think you want to pick up any and all magic items.....I'd think with good MF, boy, you'd have one slow moving game, always going back to town to cube.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for all the pointers.

P.S.....got two Big Birds now, too.

Happy edit:

We are now the proud owner of the following, which was completed from a chest in the Cathedral, first time through:

for me it depends on the item

I stop for all socket items (as in most cases Ill store them for later rw testing), runes, gems, jewels, rings, amulets, set items, uniques, cube scrolls, demon boxes/keys, elixirs, and poster pieces (in know almost everything lol)

EDIT: Did the stats for posters change? I know when I acquired all minor posters that was in the previous version to this one the stats were correct. Ill have to check that out

@BillyBGame - Don't forget to update your score on the board when you complete this act, even if you succeed or fail the sidequest (I hope you succeed though).

Kato" wrote:Posted: Wed Apr 11, 2007 5:58 am. Post subject: Re: The Mentaldom Zy-El Hardcore Tournament Thread
 I spread out the pieces quite well, such that you cannot complete a poster (without re-rolls) by staying in the same Act. Think of it being like a bell curve . . . the further you roam, the more likely it is that you'll find a piece you've never found before.

 Or it could be just dumb luck that you keep getting the same piece over and over again . . . eheheheheheh
So completing any poster, even with rerolls, in Act 1 is difficult though not impossible as you have seen.

For me, it was poster fragments AND the rate they dropped. It was pretty weird.

This sounds fantastic. Been playing zy-el since forever and a half, just dusted it off again recently with all the Diablo III news. Thought I'd check up on the boards, and I am excited to say I'm gonna try this tournament series out. I don't have a class chosen yet...I'll edit this post when I do.

Also it's good to see some familiar names still hanging around these parts...does Kato ever login these days?

Do I have to update that chart thingy what with all my zeros? Also, any easy way to start a character seperated from my already brimming with tempting items shared stash? Really dont wanna move all the hundereds of pages of items into some other characters personal....

either rename your shared stash file or just dont grab from there, better yet if you dont want to rename it just stick it in another folder then when you arent playing in the tourney you can always restore your old SS

The easiest way (or at least AN easy way) would be to rename your current _LOD_SharedStashSave.sss file to something else while you play in the tournament. Be careful not to delete it or lose track of it, or you will be mad, mad, mad!

The more difficult (but infinitely more sophisticated) way is to set up a series of commented-out directory references in your plugy.ini file that tell plugy where to look for the shared stash file. You would then simply uncomment the line that refers to the stash for the character you want to play. Al-T, on multiple occasions, has posted more explicit (and understandable) directions on how to do this, so a quick search on the subject would probably be helpful to you should you choose to pursue this avenue.

Good luck to you in the tourny!

It's not the kind of language he has used in the past when taking one of his famous catnaps (or as veterans will remember dognaps). I could be wrong but I don't expect any more development of the mod, not that we need it, I am still learning how to play it after 9 years 8-O . Kato may drop in from time to time to say hello and that will be nice if and when it happens. Meantime, for those of us who need new challenges in the mod, there are a few of us who will continue creating and perfecting tournaments to keep us "thinking way out of the box" :P

Onyhoo...enough of my rambling....Welcome to the tournament nanobots. As with everyone else, I hope you do well, learn a few things and have a lot of fun participating but yes, please edit the table with your chosen character.

Clersius Why don't you join the tournament :?: I think you would do very well.

Well I hesitate to call myself a veteran (though I do long for the days when everything in the blood moor dropped Rejuvs right about now) it's good to see Kato's still thinking of the community in part.

I'll update the chart tomorrow at work...don't have internet at my place (posting this from my phone).

Quick question: arrow quills, allowed or disallowed for this chapter? Probably been answered but sorting through 18 pages is tough on a phone...

I asked the question about the Quills a couple of pages ago. They are allowed but the magic bolts and quills are not.
