The way I see the future of the mod.....it would seem naturally that 4.5 overtake the role of flag bearer especially because of finally getting rid of "rollovers". Most likely because of that some additional balancing would be needed but so far 4.5 feel / plays very nice. It may even prove to be refreshment over several years old installment.IMHO it definitely deserves to be tested and even more supported by community...

I apologize if my post is somewhat misplaced  ...after all this is tournament place :)

After a couple of days respite, testing Montex's awesome 4.5 conversion for 1.10, it was time to get back down to serious business  :

Matrix (Hell): This is actually proving to be tougher than the Cow Level was with the monster density and so many Fire Immunes plus lots of Blood Witches with nasty Life Drain. The first Duriel drops nothing of note. Axe Dweller and Frozensteins are equally mean :!: Surprisingly (and thankfully) Platinum Drakes and Mind Maws aren’t a huge problem...Blood Witches and Demon Tricksters (both are fire immune) are the main danger so far. 2 x CCS’ from something. 2 Demon boxes drop from something(s). The second Duriel does not drop any scoring items. Diablo drops a Demon Key. To cut a long story short, 1.5 hours later and Lexx is Level 1226 upon entering...

Killing Grounds Level 1 (Hell): Faced by a large mob of Ryokin (more fire immunes  ), Hell Lords, Platinum Drakes, Minions of Destruction (FI’s also  ) to begin with I realise this is going to take a very long time to clear all 3 levels. Bonus...got an XP shrine here :D I haven’t made a point of using XP shrines for a long time so this is most welcome. Something drops a CCS. I absolutely hate Ryokin here....difficult to kill and they keep running away...”stand and fight cowards” :!: Another CCS. A Demon Box from a Ryokin. A CCS from something. A Set Balrog Skin (Sazabi’s) from a Venom Drake. A Demon Key from something. A CCS from a Ryokin. Area clear...

Killing grounds Level 2 (Hell): Better to start with....Venom Drakes, Hell Temptresses, Hell Lords, Scourges and Minions of Destruction. Can kill things quicker without the annoyance of Ryokin and Blood Witches but only just started so not counting my poultry just yet :!: Oh...just what I need....large mobs of Blood Witches and Stygian Dolls which are also fire immune. Area clear without a single scoring drop...what’s that all about :?:

Killing Grounds Level 3 (Hell): 1st-up is a pack of Minions of Destruction including one Unique. Thankfully the CB + T’Storm combo takes them out for only 1/3rd loss of life. A Demon Key from something. First room to the South has a mob of Champion Platinum Drakes, one of which drops a Demon Key and another drops a CCS. Heading West, a Unique Minion of Destruction, “Snot Slime The Slayer”, causes considerable problems but goes down eventually after quaffing half-a-belt of Full rejuvs. Thankfully Full rejuvs drop a lot here so no town trip required to replenish stocks...so far. A Ryokin drops a Demon Key. A Venom Drake drops a Demon Key. Another 2 x Demon Keys from Ryokin. Heading North now. A Demon Key from a Platinum Drake. Lots of Stygian Dolls and Shamen here plus Maiats, Ryokin and the usual Platinum Drakes. A Demon Key and a Unique Colossus Sword (DuKara’s Victorious) from something. Ooh! My first Secret Cube Scroll in ages (SCS), a CCS and a Demon Key. It appears this is where The Mervingian is so I’ll head back and clear the Western section first. A Demon Key from a Venom Drake. Mainly Platinum Drakes and Maiats in the “Wild West” with the occasional “Stygian Annoying Shamen and Dolls” and Ryokin thrown in for good measure. A Ryokin drops a Demon Key. A CCS from something. “Wild West” tamed, it’s time to go deal with “The Mervingian” (off at a tangent....I am reminded of a Wild West series from my youth...”The Virginian”). A Demon Key from a Ryokin. Just The Mervingian and a couple of Ryokin left. Finally he goes down and drops a Demon Box. I also backtrack as I had missed a couple of other drops from Ryokin and Platinum Drakes....a Demon Key and another SCS...sweet. Sweet Final Haul.

Conclusion: Much harder than the Cow Level was but mainly due to so many life-sucking Blood Witches and Ryokin, the sheer numbers and density of them and an inability to find “safe areas”. I am hopeful Lexx can navigate SS, WoE and OtO better as there will be more opportunity to stay at distance in relative safety.

At the end of the above, Lexx is Level 1265, 61,394 Life, 20,215 Mana and has just over 101 Million Gold.

I saw this before you edited the post with the link and I honestly thought you were joking  You must have a beast of a machine to be able to live stream while playing Zy-El for 2 hours 15 minutes  Had I noticed that you were serious I might have joined the channel for a while but 1am EST is 6am BST so I was already fast asleep and didn't wake up until the event was over.
Don't flatter me! :P This is honestly pushing it with the laptop I have, which can play some higher end games, but not stream them. My computer nags me a little bit for pushing it around a bit too much while playing sometimes. I'm really luck I can actually do this.
A Barbarian 8-O Brave man :!: I watched the first 30 minutes or so in it's entirety until you got to Level 2 and it felt like I was sharing every swing, hit, death, kill with you. Nice job ;) I also jumped through it and watched a few minutes in various places to check on your progress. 44 followers and it sounds like you got a few of them to download and try out the Mod. Great advert :!: "Wookieporn"   I'll say no more ;)
 <3
Just out of general interest, what software do you use for your live streaming :?:
Open Broadcast Software: https://obsproject.com/
Oh...and tip for where "Bul-Kathos" is at present....do some "loot runs" and "gem shrine" runs while avoiding killing things as much as possible before Level 25. It's your only chance to do this for a very long time.

Happy Zy-Elling :)
Noted down. And good luck with your endeavors!

Gonna be streaming @ 5:30 EST this time. I will update this post with a VOD/Scoreboard if no one posts after me.

PS: I'm having a Zy-El Sunday, which I will play nothing by Zy-El, again starting @ 5:30 EST.

Edit 1: Here is my score for today. Uploading the VOD at the moment.

Tip of the day: Yeehaw Y’all “XiresNar Have a Shave and Get a Haircut Man! signed....Big Daddy Tiger ;)

Suicide Sanctum (Hell): Ahh...spamming from the safety of a platform...and relax :). Hell Spawn, Tim The Enchanters, Blood Banshees...various immunities but I can spam all 3 of my main skills at distance so no problem so far. Just spotted a Vorpal Bunny across a platform ...let’s see how this goes...not fire immune so Hydras 1 – 0 Vorpal Bunnies :!: No scoring drops yet  Finally a ZESF from a Vorpal Bunny. 2 Demon Boxes from 2 Vorpal Bunnies. A UCS from a Vorpal Bunny. A Demon Box from a Vorpal Bunny. A UCS from something. Cleared a platform from distance...drops were Demon Box x 2 and a CCS. A Demon Key from a Vorpal Bunny. 2 x ZESFs from successive Vorpal Bunnies. A pack of 4 Darth Smalls catch Lexx by surprise and almost take her out...almost but not quite...eat Hydra “Small Scum” :P A Mind Maw drops a ZESF. A Demon Key from a Vorpal Bunny. A Set Cryptic Sword (Sazabi’s) from something. Nearly at the end now and apart from a few “near things” due to the incompetence and wandering concentration of her handler, nothing that troubled Lexx too much. Area clear with 2 x ZESFs to finish. Final tally.

I forgot to include the 6K for 1st time completion of The Matrix & KG in my last table update but have included it this time. (***Don't say a word Clersius***)

@Montex: I appreciate your enthusiasm, both for testing out the new version and for playing PG again, but the chasm between the new and the old versions is too pronounced to make the crossover viable. I'm sure that, after extensive testing of the new version, it will come to have a whole slew of tournaments to showcase its new wonders. :)

Yes indeed! The end is nigh! Repent, repent! Oh wait...

Outstanding showing in SS, The Matrix, and The Killing Grounds, mate! Lexx is looking good to cross that finish line. Only seven more runs... Keep it up!!
I forgot to include the 6K for 1st time completion...
Not a single, solitary utterance. My eyes speak volumes, however... *raises his eyebrow meaningfully* :mrgreenlaughing:

@XiresNar: Watched the second session after you had youtubed it – my flash plugin crashes too often when I watch it at Twitch. I can't wait for Zy-El Sunday, which I hope will be PG-heavy! Just a quick note along the same lines as Al's hints and suggestions... If you are going to go ahead and kill things and level your Barbie up, then at least make use of the nice clustering of your shrines... kill in an arc that includes your unique Zombie pack and all of your shrines, then reset as soon as you reveal that last shrine. Three birds, one stone. Also, I would recommend that you not kill more Zombies, Skeletons, or Spike Fiends than you absolutely have to – stick to Kobolds and Quill Rats. The point being that you gain the least amount of experience while still collecting gold and trinkets. When (if) you decide to ever do pure loot runs, I would suggest that you reset your maps until you get a Blood Moor that has a cabin with a bed in it. They almost always have that mega-chest on the front porch and the two together make for a great source of items. Lastly, if you are going to do Shrine runs, then have a specific goal in mind. You mentioned possibly “getting one of each” perfect gem. Why? What are you planning to do with one of each of them? I'm not bashing the idea, I'm just asking you to ask yourself what the purpose of that would be, so that you know what your goal is. My goal, as an Assassin, was to get enough perfect rubies and sapphires to fill four three-socket tall charms. A Barbarian might have a wildly different goal. Just offering advice... feel free to completely ignore it. :D

-------------------

20140619:

Wayside of Woe (Re-run #2): Death the 438th to a Banshee Mage. She has cleared out the first legs of the area, killed 15 or so Chimeras, and there have been zero scoring drops so far. She is catching Lexx's Matrix Level 2 disease! Quarantine!! Death the 439th to another Banshee Mage. Still nothing of note. Ahh there we go. ZESF from a Chimera. DKey from a unique Chimera. ZESF from a Chimera. UCS from a Chimera or a Blood Banshee. Three ZESFs from Chimeras over a period of time. DKeys from two more. UCS from yet another one. ZESF from a unique Chimera – Moon Slime the something. DBox from a Chimera a while later. DKeys from a Mini-Maul and a Darth Small. Another from either a Chimera or a Mini-Maul. Two DBoxes and a ZESF from a pair of Chimeras. Ding 2213. Sheesh, even more levels than last run, though she gleaned far less loot.

Total points thus far: Previous (349,930) + Common Cube Scroll x 7 (35) + Uncommon Cube Scroll x 2 (150) + Poster Fragment (25) + DBox x 3 (1,200) + DKey x 7 (2,800) + Zy-El Scroll Fragment x 7 (7,000) = 361,140.

20140620:

Wayside of Woe (Re-run #3): Overextended myself near the entrance... Death the 440th to a combined mob of Banshee Mages and Blood Banshees. Should be recoverable. Or not. Very annoying. Death the 448th. Finally under control, such as it is...

ZESF and a UCS from a Voorlon. Death the 449th to a Succubus Mage. DBox and a unique ring (Nagelring) from a unique Voorlon and his underling. DBox from a Chimera. DKey from a Banshee Mage, DBox from a Chimera. ZESF from a Voorlon. Another a few minutes later. DKey from a Ryokin. Secret Cube Scroll from a Chimera. Death the 450th to a Chimera. Death the 451st while trying to pull the corpse out from under the Chimera. A pair of DKeys from the local Ryokin population. Two more DKeys from a Voorlon and a Ryokin. ZESF from a Voorlon. DBox from a Chimera. ZESF from another Chimera. DKey from yet another one. DKey from a Banshee Mage. Death the 452nd from a Ryokin. DKeys from a Ryokin and a Chimera.

 She died fairly deep in enemy territory that time... four Tims, four Chimeras, and an unknown number of red-star-throwing Banshee Mages must now be overcome in order to retrieve her corpse. :ponder: Not as bad as I feared... Deaths the 453rd and 454th all told. Dodgin' and weavin' :!: No more loot for the last good long while. Alas and alack. Ding 2338. Collection of collectibles.

Total points thus far: Previous (361,140) + Common Cube Scroll x 10 (50) + Uncommon Cube Scroll (75) + Secret Cube Scroll (1,250) + Unique Ring (350) + DBox x 4 (1,600) + DKey x 9 (3,600) + Zy-El Scroll Fragment x 5 (5,000) = 373,065.

Why? What are you planning to do with one of each of them?
I plan on eventually making a CHoM. I feel like I have to concerning my barbarian's nature.

Post by Al-T » Sun Jun 22, 2014 3:40 pm

Real life has once again curbed my play time and I haven't done WoE and OtO yet. Today I will have a dilemma..."devote all my time to playing or join in XiresNar's live broadcast?" Nice dilemma to have :)

:D :D :D Honestly, who would have thought this was possible given the difficulty of the tournament :?: What a great feeling it will be when you cross that finish line. I know it is a tournament and we are "playing against each other" but I will be so very :D for you when Bloodstar breaks the tape (just don't forget to pick up Knimagog from wherever you left that poor neglected kitty) :!:

Wayside of Woe (Hell) Initial Run: First up are a group of Voorlons, Hell Spawn, Hell Whips and Ryokin. A UCS and an SCS from Voorlons. More Voorlons and Succubus mages next + the previous demon scum. A Demon Key from a Chimera. A ZESF from something. A Demon Box from a Hell Whip. A ZESF from a Chimera. A Demon Key from something. A Demon Key from a Voorlon. A CCS from something. A Demon Key from a Chimera. A Demon Box from a Chimera. Another Demon Box from another Chimera. A Demon Key from a Chimera. A ZESF from a Chimera. Conclusion: That was really tough. Lexx suffered a lot of deaths (lost count but must have been about 15-20). At least it was “doable” and with her increased life and mana after that run it should be easier in the reruns but I still have OtO to deal with first. Only 6 runs to go :!:

For my final rerun and Lexx’s final outing in the tournament I won’t be able to do a “live streaming event” but I might be able to record it as a VOD.

Again I will update this post at the end for VODs and scoreboard.

Edit 1: Well I got too sleepy (due to lack thereof) to finish the whole night filled with Zy-El, but I did make progress in the tournament a bit. I will post the VOD/score tomorrow when I wake up. Apologies for not keeping up with what I promised..

No worries, Xires. I look forward to seeing the video tomorrow. :)

Wow, Al... that was a HEFTY score boost! Almost 20k :!: Only one hurdle left... Mini-Diablos. You can do eeeeeet!

I know what you mean about "breaking the tape." The times when Lexx has overcome the difficulties that seemed would surely end her story, those have been my favourite moments in this entire adventure. :D The pure hell of this tournament has made its players into comrades more than competitors. I would not wish the aggravation and headaches on my worst enemy, but to see a compatriot attempt the seemingly impossible lifts my heart. Perhaps that is overstating it a bit, especially in such sappy terms, but surely you get my drift! I too will be cheering aloud when Lexx finally finishes the last of her runs. And that, my friend, is a video I would watch over and over again!!!

Speaking of which... I looked into the software that you are using, Xires. I am having trouble getting Diablo II to show up, and reading the forums for the software reveals that one might need to use a Glide wrapper before it will work. Is that what you did, Xires? Al, what are you planning to use to make your video? The same software? Have you tried it out yet?

[EDIT]

ps - Al, check your score, yeah? Something seems amiss...

 Serioulsy amiss. I honestly don't know what went wrong there but here is what it should be (I'll edit the above table also ...done):

Previous score 252,905 + 1st time completion of Woe (6000) + 5 x Zy-El Scroll Fragments (5000) + 4 x CCS (20) + 1 x UCS (75) + 1 x SCS (1250) + 5 * Demox Boxes (2000) + 12 x Demon Keys (4800) [total haul = 19,145] =>

252,905 + 19,145 = 272,050 and 272,050 * 1.030 = 280,212

I must have really messed up when tabbing out to enter scores in the spreadsheet  :x

As for recording Lexx's final run I am currenty testing which software will work best. The contenders are "Bandicam", "CamStudio" and the "Open Broadcast" software that XiresNar uses (if it can save without having to live stream also).

I have done a couple of tests with "Bandicam" and as I only have the free version I am limited to 10 minute chunks of recording at a time and it displays a watermark (no big deal). The main problem is the size of the files it produces....even at the lowest quality recording settings and the smallest window size my 5 minute tests (non-tourney char) were producing files bigger than 400Mb. As it will take Lexx 2 hours or more to clear WoE I don't think it is viable, although if worst comes to worst I could upload 5-10 minute chunks and provide links to each (not ideal). I could also use my video converter software to reduce it further but that is a mountain of work.

I have yet to test the other 2, "CamStudio" and "OBS". Hopefully one of those gives a better result.

A final possibility, if none of them significantly reduce the file size, would be to record the first and last 5 minutes and stitch them together. More testing required first though.

Happy Zy-Elling :)

P.S. XiresNar uses D2SE Modmanager to run Zy-El and his other Mods and it has Glide built-in which is why it works for him. I think I have a Glide-Wrapper somewhere so I should be able to test out the "OBS" software.
-------------

Been doing some more testing with "Camstudio" and "Bandicam". "Camstudio" is a non-starter as codecs that work with it without crashing the software are extremely limited and the file sizes are even bigger than my first tests with "Bandicam". With further tweaking of settings I have managed to get the "Bandicam" file size down from over 400Mb to about 150Mb for 5 minutes. I don't think I'll be able to reduce this any further.

Time to test "OBS"......

Took me a while to get used to it and configure it to my liking but once I did....

SWEET :D Many thanks XiresNar for recommending this software. Managed to save a 15 minute Zy-El video playing Full Screen and it was only 124Mb in size :). You can see the result here (even full screen on YouTube the quality isn't too shabby). One of my concerns had been that using "Bandicam" or "Camstudio" Full Screen would have created a file several Gb in size. I could have used them to save in "windowed mode" but I don't usually play in a Window so I would have been clicking outside of it due to not being used to it, resulting in being killed more often as well as still having large file sizes. Not something I would like with Lexx as she will die enough times as it is playing Full Screen. This is just about the perfect answer and I should be able to save the entire run or at worst, split it into two files. So thanks again XiresNar...great piece of software ;)

I use D3D instead of Glide.

I run the Game in windowed mode, with D3D as before mentioned. Use either Game or Window capture and it should detect it (assuming you had the window open before hand). If it doesent, you can use Monitor Capture, and crop the frame to the game window, although it will severely drop the frame quality in the encoding output (look at the first 2 parts of PGT for examples.) Sometimes it will not detect it. If it doesent, if you still have Classic LoD via D2SE, launch that and it should detect it in Game/Window Capture. After that launch Zy-El and it should automatically detect that too every time you start up Zy-El.

Glade to see it helped!

A little tip though to save computer space. Go to twitch.tv>your dashboard>stream key and copy that stream key in the needed field in your OBS settings. Also get OBS to stream on twitch + the host server of your preference. You will get a red notification about settings you should apply specifically for twitch, so be sure to do that. After that go to twitch.tv>settings>channel & videos> and click the check box for automatically saving your broadcasts.

Once you do that, you can livestream your Zy-El runs of whatever you please. After that you can go to your channel's previous broadcasts, upload them as highlights for your channel, and even post them on youtube!

Now time for my VOD:

No point in me "live streaming" as I don't have a webcam...I know..."this day and age, who doesn't have a webcam :?: "....well, that would be me 8-O

It's not about saving space on my PC anyway, I have plenty free dsk space, it's more the file size that I have to upload to "YouTube" or wherever else I decide to publish it and the time that will take. I just delete my local copy once I have uploaded anyway and for anything I really want to keep, I have various cloud storage locations I can use. I will certainly take a look into tweaking the settings I am currently using....I am sure I haven't got them perfect after just one day.

Out of interest...what level is Bul-Kathos now :?:

Thanks to both of you for the advice and info on what you are using to record game sessions and how you are using it. I ended up having to do it in "Monitor Capture" mode. Not good quality, and the first few seconds of every area change are riddled with frame drops, but it will do. The ~1:45:00 video of BloodStar's last run was "only" 862 megabytes in size, and it is taking forever 67 minutes forever to upload to youtube. :P It's not terribly exciting, but... but nothing. It's not terribly exciting. It does chronicle the last time she cleared an area for points in the Pure Grind II tournament, so that made it worth making (for myself, at least). I freely admit stealing the idea from both of you - Xires in general for doing his VODs; Al in specific for mentioning capturing Lexx's last run. :D Which means props and thanks to both of you, of course! Yay Zy-El community :!:

Thanks for posting the VOD of Sunday's event, Xires - I enjoyed it, as always.

[EDIT]

Ok, the video finished uploading and processing, and the quality is seriously degraded from the original. It's really quite terrible, just letting you know. :-|

---------------------

20140623:

(Final Run) Wayside of Woe (Re-run #5): I cannot believe this is almost over! I'm a little nervous about having a camera capture my “play style,” but maybe it will be passably interesting. Fairly smooth start, found the requisite pair of xp shrines needed to even start playing, availed BloodStar of one, found a relatively clear path through the throngs of monsters on the Arreat Plateau, and set up at the entrance of Wayside of Woe.

ZESF from a Chimera. DKey from a Mini-Maul. ZESF from a Voorlon. DKey from another Voorlon – it was a unique with Teleport, of all things. DBox from a unique Voorlon - mana burner. DKey from a Chimera. ZESF from a Voorlon. DKey from a Chimera. DBox from something – probably a Hell Whip. DBox from a Blood Banshee or a Hell Whip. ZESF from a Voorlon. Death the 463rd to a Mini-Maul. Failed to go heal after being poisoned by a Chimera, then plunged into battle and died trying to run like a coward. ZESF and a DKey from a pack of Chimeras. DKey from a Champion Immortal, another from a Ryokin. Deaths the 464th and 465th to Chimeras. DKeys from a Chimera and a Ryokin. DKey from a Blood Banshee. ZESF from a Hell Whip. Ding 2508. The final run's loot. That did not take very long at all! An hour and 45 minutes is shorter than normal, for sure. Here is a link to the video of her final run.

Conclusion: Wow... it is finally done! Over four months of... this. I am mostly glad but a little sad at being able to shake the dust of this adventure off of my shoes. It was a wild ride, and I'm delighted that I ended up continuing to the bittersweet end – many, MANY heartfelt thanks to Big Daddy, Mr. Al-Tisaur, The Maestro himself for talking me down off the ledge several times, as well as pushing me, through camaraderie and competition, to give it BloodStar's all!

BloodStar ends her last performance at level 2,508, having a grand total of 176k life and 9.7k mana, having accumulated over 310 million gold. Here is the final disposition of her score spreadsheet, just for the fun of it. :D

I am oh-so-happy that Al and QL pushed for the free use of common cube scrolls in Nightmare and uncommon cube scrolls in Hell, or I would never have continued this to the end. I would have refused to spend BloodStar's points or free recipes as long as possible, and that time period would have extended well past my tolerance for the massive death count that she would have started accruing without spending points or recipes. She used 13 uncommons and 84 commons, and those made all the difference in the world. Well, they made a lot of the difference in the world. The rest of the difference was made up from the Oath and multiple Word runewords that she fashioned for herself.

Watching your video this very moment in time.... "John Dillinger" :rotf:

I watched the whole thing from start to finish :). Loved it and also downloaded it so I can watch it again and again :)

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS Clersius and Bloodstar :!:

You have posted a score that will be extremely tough to beat, certainly Lexx has no chance of beating it. It's been an absolute pleasure trading tips, commentary on our respective playing experiences, light-hearted banter and the occasional well intentioned insult :D I hope "adieu" just applies to this tournament and I hope to see you back in the "Evolution" and "Ladder" tourneys.

Been a pleasure having you as a friendly adversary and once again, congratulations :!: :D (***Al is chuffed to bits for you***)

-------------

I decided to record Lexx’s run in the Orifice to Oblivion and will also record her remaining 5 reruns which will most likely be done in Wayside of Woe. Currently uploading the video to YouTube and will edit this post with a link when done. It is 1hr 28 minutes and 797Mb in size so it will take a while (at the time of writing it still has 78 minutes to go).

Orifice to Oblivion (Hell): The start was very tough and 40 minutes in as you will see from the video (when it is finally uploaded), Lexx had considerable problems with Mini-Diablos including one particularly nasty Unique. 8 x Demon Keys, 3 x Demon Boxes, 2 x ZESF, 4 x CCS and 2 x UCS was the worst haul for a long time but still 6570 to add to the previous 272,050...278,620 and 286,979 with the modifier. (PLUS 6K for 1st time area completion Al-Tisaur you stupid old fart :!: ) => 284,620 and 293,159 with the modifier.

*cough* sixthousandforcompletingthearea *cough*

Not only does uploading such a large video take a long time, but after it gets uploaded, it takes at least another 15 minutes or so to "process" it. I'm chomping at the bit to see it! Your video of the Whirlwind Barbie was quite entertaining as well, I forgot to previously mention. :D

Well done on successfully conquering the last of the unexplored areas of the tournament, and Lexx's toughest challenge ever, Al!! Now for the home stretch......

Thank you, Maestro, for your kind words. :) I am pleased that you enjoyed BloodStar's screen debut. Yes, "adieu" was meant solely in regard to the postings from BloodStar's tournament perspective. You'll not be rid of me that easily! :mrgreenlaughing: I must be the biggest moron ever to walk the surface of this planet, but I am, once again, experiencing a super-strong craving to play a Barbarian or a Paladin in this tournament. Watching Xires play Bul-Kathos is, apparently, a really bad influence.

I'm curious as to what Lexx's level was after her OtO run...

Luck to you for your Final Five! :)

Yep, number 2 in da hoooooooouuuuuuusssseeee! *watches Al's other video again* How can we so easily forget purposefully set aside from our thoughts what a royal pain in the arse it is to play PG?? The mind boggles at the mind's boggling. "Ohhhh this hurts so much. Ouch. OUCH!! Ahh finally got that iron spike out of my eyeball. What's this? A shinier, newer, BIGGER iron spike? Let's see if it... ouch... fits in my eyeball... OUCH! Yay, this is so much fun! WHAT A BLAST!!!"

I think that Knimagog has acclimated well to the company of her recently-bereft new owner, plus she just adores the kangaroo mice that are so prolific in the deserts surrounding Lut Gholein. BloodStar sends boxes of frozen Horror marrow to her via Warriv and/or Meshif whenever she gets a chance. Atma attests that Knimagog has come to recognize the boxes and goes wild whenever she sees Meshif's ship or Warriv's caravan approaching the city.

LOVE the video, Al!! Thanks so much for posting it. :D I'll tell you, I had to see it to believe just how squishy Lexx really is. Her life bounces up and down more than a kid on a pogostick. I am so incredibly glad that I did not choose a Sorceress for this tournament :!: *faint* I don't think there is any way that a Barbarian or a Paladin could be worse than that! You are going to think that playing an Amazon is an all-expense-paid vacation after the ordeal you've endured. :mrgreenlaughing:

I think I will try assuaging my recent Barbarian fetish with Bloodmist and a new entry in the Ladder. Last five runs, Al! Last five runs...

@Xires: By my reckoning, your score is too low... You made the Mist gloves, a pair of Booster boots, and a Booster tall charm, right? So your new score should be 45 (previous points) + set item (50) + poster frag (25) + 3 x 2-socket runeword (60) + CCS (5) = 185 points, yeah?

Glad to see you are not neglecting Knimagog. I can imagine her delight on receiving the boxes of frozen horror bone marrow

I am also glad you liked the video and that I didn't choose a Sorceress for this tournament......oh Wait  I was particularly pleased when she finally overcame that group of Mini-D's including the Unique. At several points after all the deaths I was thinking it might be the end of the road but perseverance paid off :!: Yes, any character other than a Sorceress will be like a walk in the park by comparison.

I'll say it again for anyone lurking and considering joining the tournament...."DO NOT MAKE A SORCERESS" :!: If you want to know why, just check the video.

I'll go check out what character you have entered in the Ladder....ttfn.
----------------------

Before starting my 1st rerun, I decided to reroll all my useless remaining CCS’ and UCS’ which, at this late point in the tournament was all of them (58 x CCS and 13 x UCS), in the hope of getting something with “Block to Shield” as the “Oath of Sorceress” Troll Nest Lexx has been using only has 46% chance to block  . Result...nothing with even remotely useful stats rolled but at least it is better to have tried than be forever wondering “what if?”. Deliberately not going to use XP shrines and will only pick up scoring drops to ensure the video is not too large. I don’t need anything else now anyway with only 5 runs to go. With any luck I’ll get some scrolls with “Block to Shield”. I’ll also start the video at the point she enters WoE for the first time in this rerun to help further reduce the video size.

Wayside of Woe Hell, rerun 1: Another tough outing for Lexx but she prevails as always :). What a nice haul from this rerun...that’s more like it :!: Lots of deaths and moments of total despair again. I just hope the video is not too large to upload to YouTube...1Gig, 2 hrs 6 minutes and 33 seconds. If it is, I’ll split it.

12 x Demon Keys (4,800), 4 x 1K Collectors (4,000), 9 x ZESF (9,000), 4 x CCS (20), 2 x SCS (2,500), 3 x Demon Boxes (1,200) , 1 x Set Item (Naj’s...350)...total 21,870. Previous score 284,620 + 21,870 => 306,490 and 315,685 with modifier.

Happy Zy-Elling :)

WoW!! Yeah, if Lexx gets > 20k per run, she could snatch the title right out of BloodStar's hot little hands! I hope she does it, personally... that would be good television.

While watching the video, I never got the feeling that Lexx was actually in dire straits. I got the feeling that some teeth were grinding somewhere, perhaps there was the clenching of a fist or maybe the utterance of oath could be heard, but nothing serious. Of course, I had the foreknowledge that she pulled through in the end, but still... it seemed like an extreme annoyance, frustration galore, but nothing that a slew of teleporting to and fro to break up the pack couldn't eventually solve.

But what do I know? I am not the expert on Sorceri, now am I?

Modest young person" wrote:but what do I know? I am not the expert on Sorceri, now am I?
Excuse me.....a 10K HARDCORE Sorceress...pretty EXPERT if you ask me ;)
----------------

I know I said I would take a video of all my reruns but as the Woe runs are going to take about 2 hours each and uploading/processing the video takes a further 5 hours (a full day for each rerun), I am just going to play reruns 2, 3 and 4 without recording but will record the last one. That way, I can probably be finished in 2 or 3 days.
-----------------

Wayside of Woe Hell, rerun 2: First up are a couple of Succubi and 4 Chimeras...drawn off 2 at a time. Succubi dealt with after the Chimeras then another group of 4 Chimeras...tricky but done :!: A Chimera drops a Demon Key. Next some Mini-Mauls and another 2 Chimeras. A Chimera drops a CCS. A UCS from a Chimera. There are Voorlons this run...didn’t get any in the first rerun. A Voorlon drops a UCS. A CCS from a Voorlon. A Demon Box and a ZESF from a Chimera. 2 x Demon Keys from Ryokin. An SCS from a Ryokin. A CCS from a Mini-Maul. A CCS from a Ryokin. A Demon Key from a Voorlon. A ZESF from a Voorlon. A Demon Box and 2 x ZESFs from 2 Voorlons. A Demon Key from a Chimera...and another 2 from Chimeras. A Demon Box from a Chimera. A ZESF from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Ryokin. A CCS from a Ryokin. A ZESF from a Champion Immortal. A ZESF from a Chimera. 3 x Demon Keys from a bunch of Ryokin. An SCS from something. 2 x ZESFs from Chimeras. A Demon Box from a Chimera. Another ZESF from a Chimera. A Set Ring (Angelic Halo) from something. I don’t want this run to end  :!: An SCS from something. A CCS from something. A Demon Box from a Chimera. Nearly at the end now. Area Lexxified with a final scoring drop of a CCS from a Ryokin. Woe rerun 2 Haul.

That took 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete, mainly because Lexx died twice as many times as in the first rerun. Thank goodness I didn’t try to record that. The file size would have been too large for YouTube and even if it had not, the quality would have been seriously poo :!: Worth every second of it for the drops though... 1 Set Ring (350) + 10 x Zy-El Scroll Fragments (10,000) + 6 x CCS (30) + 2 x UCS (150) + 3 x SCS (3,750) + 5 x Demon Boxes (2000) + 11 x Demon Keys (4,400) = > 20,680.

Previous score 306,490 + 20,680 => 327,170 and 336,985 with modifier.

Conclusion: Only 3 runs to go and still in with a slight chance of overtaking Clersius as long as the drops are similar.

Wayside of Woe Hell, rerun 3: A ZESF from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Chimera. A ZESF from a Voorlon. A Demon Key from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Tim The Enchanter. A 1K Collector from a Normal Immortal. A Demon Box from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Champion Chimera. A Demon Box from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Chimera. A CCS from a Mini-Maul. A CCS from a Ryokin. A Demon Key from a Chimera. Almost at the end of this run. A UCS from a Chimera. 2 x ZESF’s from a Unique Chimera. A Demon Key from a Ryokin to finish. Woe Lexxified. Woe rerun 3 Haul.

This score hasn’t helped my cause in catching Clersius....7 x Demon Keys (2800) + 2 x Demon Boxes (800) + 4 x Zy-El Scroll Fragments (4000) + 1 x 1K Collector (1000) + 2 x CCS (10) + 1 x UCS (75) = > 8,685.

Previous score 327,170 + 8,685 => 335,855 and 345,931 with modifier.

Conclusion: Only 2 runs to go with no chance of catching Clerisus and Bloodstar now (even if I get lots of Immortals) after that poor scoring run but I’ll come a close 2nd ;). It was always only an outside chance anyway.

:rotf: Three secret scrolls and 10 scroll fragments!! 8-O That is an INSANE amount of loot - nearly as insane as her first rerun :!: :!: Congrats on that, Al. I'm sorry that the third rerun didn't pan out as well as the first and second ones did. :-| I'm currently downloading your first rerun video to watch with VLC... can't wait to see it in all of its death-and-loot-riddled glory.

Oh yeah... I disremembered that, didn't I?

Good luck on the last two, Maestro... here's hoping that Lexx somehow manages to wrangle 30-40k points from each of them! :mrgreenlaughing:

[EDIT]
That first death in your RR1 video was interesting... I played it frame-by-frame, and that Chimera completely bypassed Lexx's Energy Shield. He gave her a one-two punch, both of which went straight to her life. Very strange!

Then it happened again right after the 50 minute and one hour marks...

Those unexplainable deaths happen all too often for my liking. Had several in reruns 2 & 3 also.

1hr 53 minutes in to the video was the trickiest part of the run with the 3 Chimeras and the Succubus Mage guarding Lexx's body after her first death to them. Took me a while to maneouver them safely so she could get it back

It's funny, I have watched your last run with Bloodstar a couple of times, was relaxed while doing so and enjoyed it tremendously :D I tried watching Lexx's runs again but found my fingers hovering over the Function keys to change skills and at one point tried controlling her with the mouse  I had to stop watching as it was just too stressful :!:

I should finish my last two reruns today and will upload the video of Lexx's last outing  in the tournament as soon as I can.
-----------------------------------

Wayside of Woe Hell, rerun 4: A ZESF from a Chimera. A CCS from a Chimera. A ZESF from a Voorlon. A ZESF from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Voorlon. An SCS from a Voorlon. A Demon Key form Tim The Enchanter. A Demon Box from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Chimera. A ZESF from a Chimera. A Demon Key from a Ryokin. A Demon Key from a Mini-Maul. A ZESF from a Chimera. A Demon Box from a Voorlon. A Demon Key from a Voorlon. A Demon Box and a Demon Key from a Champion Chimera. A ZESF from a Chimera (** this is more like the drops I need**). A Demon Box from a Succubus Mage. A Poster Piece and a Demon Box from what I assume was a Champion Voorlon given the time it took to kill it. A Demon Key from a “normal” Voorlon. Nearly at the end now. A Demon Box from a Ryokin. Woe Lexxified. Woe rerun 4 Haul.

Not my best scoring run but at least it was better than the previous one. 1 x PF (25) + 6 x ZESF (6000) + 1 x CCS (5) + 1 x SCS (1250) + 6 x Demon Boxes (2400) + 8 x Demon Keys (3200) = 12,880

Previous score 335,855 + 12,880 => 348,735 and 359,197 with modifier.

Conclusion: Only 1 run to go  and it looks like I will not break the 400K score barrier that I was hoping to do.

I am also considering splitting the video of Lexx's last run into two or more parts as it is going to be well over 2 hours in total. Splitting it should mean slightly better quality for each part...I hope.

A wee precursor to Lexx's last outing in this wonderful Torunament :!: (I probably shouldn't admit this but...I had a tear in my eye while making this...old sap :P )
