Common Cube Scroll "Any Helm to Circlet" gave me this

:arrow: Megaloading crf jewels add +40 lvl req which is mentioned in pdf file. But when I put that jewel (ex normal bow with sockets without level req) it need 170 lvl to equip it but jewel needs 94 level req to equip
:arrow: Extractor doesn't work for Uncommon Cube Scrolls. Gives Normal Hand Axe

Wow a community patch for Zy-El.

I might install D2 again and try this out.

Ok, my collector has 12k points in it. I change it to upgrader, throw in a tome of Id, and it takes 5k points and gives me a normal hand axe? I dont think ths is normal. I tried it twice, so my collector is back to 2k points :(

Awesome! I always loved Zy-el, I had no idea there was such a following until I stumbled across the wiki and found a community patch!

So a quick question: is there anyone that plays this on Hamachi (not 4.4c but this patch)?

Edit: I am parked on Diablo2 ZyEl and Zyel -Trial By Fire

Started playing 4.4c with a friend, and saw this. The modifications look great.

It seems to work for single player, but when doing TCP via Hamachi, it crashes during combat.

If we fight separately then it is fine. The moment we attack someone when close to each other (close enough to see the attack), it crashes.

Hope you continue working on it. Even after playing tons of Steam games, we always come back to ZyEl...

I have crash on lan too. I helped remove all versions D2 and reinsall 4.5.

I hope this not end, but... I think we lost Montex. Last time he was here over a month ago.

I managed to fix the multiplayer crash by removing KillExp.dll.
It probably has some impact on XP gain though I'm not sure how large it is. Without it me and my 2 friends finished normal at around lvl 120.

I haven't worked with Assembly since college. Really hard to understand the big picture of what is going on...

If anyone else is having issues with the lan crash, I'd first try what Altekor said two post up ^

If that doesn't do it for you, then, I think I fixed the KillExp.dll for now. Can I upload the file here, or do I need to find another place to host it like mediafire?

Too many problem with collector.
Dont work:
with upgrader - all cube scroll, upgrade to uniq in all item, zyel scroll fragment (ID book), Minor ChoM...
upgrader with craft jewel - too often I get rar jewel, not unique.
upgrader with armor, weapon - changing the type of the item.
upgrader with craft armor, weapon - random magik item.

with extractor - all uniq item, rare cube scroll and upper scrolls, demon box...


and big trouble: if cost 50k or more then not take and added collector point.
Trade problem: trowing weapon with scull. Price too high. I think with rune zy too.

If you have a source cubemain.bin take this me. Maybe I fix cube problem.

I don't think that the problem is killexp.dll. We play with this.
Maybe problem with registry.

I may be able to write a program to backwards engineer the bin file back to txt, but it involves reading the assembly to see how it builds it. Can only take so much of it at once.. :P

I wasnt on this forum for a while and i just saw this topic. So, how can you guys edit an existing mod? Do we have the source files? And permissions to edit?

Hi Xibalba,

My first post here suggested getting approval from Kato himself. I understand there was no reply to the intial request from Montex within a reasonable time frame. I also suggested getting permission from the admins here if the beforehand transpired....I have had no confirmation either way, either from Montex or the admins. Not that anyone needs to consult me as I have no official status here but it would have been nice if the "community" had been advised one way or the other by Montex or an admin if that request for the go-ahead had taken place (with or without a reply).

The next issue is...porting from 1.09D to 1.10 can not be done just by simply copying and modifying text files extracted from the 1.09D MOPAQ as seems to be the case here and why so many problems are rearing their ugly heads.

What needs to be done is for someone to port the mod, only after approval, to 1.10 or above but they will have to start from scratch (with a few caveats) so it is not a project to be taken on "part-time". To be done properly would require the same commitment and nearly the same time required as Kato spent on the Mod from 2002.

I can hold off or just keep it as a personal project until (hopefully) Montex comes back.

However, this version from Montex is already playable. The errors seem minor to me. (Granted, I haven't played all the way through yet, but at lvl 120 I see no major issues.)

Fixed the bug where mana/level and hp/level didn't work. Updated the raw Binary file...

Goes into your C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\zyel\data\global\excel folder, or equivilant.

Just temporary until Montex comes back or delivers the source files (I have two messages out to him letting him know I'll take over if he wants.)

Does this include fixing blatant bugs, like a stat attribute not working?

Also, this means Montex should not have worked on it (given that he never successfully got permission just like I've tried for weeks and haven't.)

EDIT: Also, thinking of Skyrim modding, if an author drops out of contact for an extended amount of time (years) it is generally considered ok to fix bugs/change their mod, as long as they take it down the moment the author comes back and gives/denies permission.

That is not how it works for Skyrim Modding. Some mod makers are fine with it. The thing is that a mod maker usually gives a term on how his/her mods can be worked. Some do make fixes to some mods but they still want the users to install the original mod and just add those fixes. Skyrim is designed around the use of mods so it is much easier to add a mod plugin than it is for Diablo II

Kato has in the past never gave anyone the permission to work on his baby. Also he has never gave the text files for his mod and in this community that usually means that they do not want just anyone to work on their mod.

I've seen it a few times in Skyrim (Mystic Elven armor comes to mind) but I get your point about the delivery system.

Kato hasn't been active for 5 years and admittedly hasn't been working on it. Not that that is any standard... and I really like Kato for his amazing Mod.

I would think that continuing Zyel in the spirit of what the MOD would be more respect for Kato then letting die... but I could be wrong. I'd think that there would be a statute of limitations on this type thing. If Kato isn't around, then who is the victim here?

I don't mean to be confrontational. I just would like to keep the mod active since there really isn't anything else like it. :)

I've also looked into modding torchlight 2, but I'd much rather improve ZyEl. :( :( :(

I'd like to give one more possible fix to make the Darth Mauls and Darth Smalls work for 4.5. Again, not a new feature, just a fix.

After that, I can move on to something else.

Is everyone alright with me posting the fix for that last problem (assuming I figure it out.)

horvay ... yes the sentiments are what we all believe...don't let the Mod die but I would suggest you at least get permission from one of the senior admins here e.g. Volf before you start posting about any fixes or updates. What you do on your own computer is your own business but please get permission from the admins here before you start posting about the great work you have done ;)
