All existing runes has been altered in some way, and completly new runes has been added aswell. There exist different type of runes, first we have the normal runes that are already existing in the game, but there exist special runes aswell like class specific and monster runes. Those have its strengths and limits in one way or another.
{Note this is the same Rune screenshots that are in the main discussion thread}
Class Specific Runes
Class specific runes are designed to be used only by one class. You can only insert a class specific rune if you are the correct class. Currently it doesn't set the item to class specific, but this is planned to be when its finished.
Here are some screenshots:

Monster Runes
This are special runes forge by a clan or magician for a special monster race. You can find different runes like Sk Rune (Skeleton Rune). The runes will have different important aspects besides to be able to sock item with it. They can be part of special cube recipes that are used to create monster items and even monster sets. Also, there will be special runewords that are built up by monster runes and you can only get these runeword by adding it to special items.
Here are some screenshots (The names of the runes will maybe change later, since its quite simple naming of the runes right now).

Additional Info about runes: Runes can combined to built runewords (surprise! ). But, they can also lock up hidden power in set or unique items aswell if the right combination are used.

The stats can be changed between now and the final version, you will probably also note in the screenshots that the levelrequirements are quite different than you are used to.
