Ds1 editor problem

Ds1 editor problem
I installed the ds1 editor from the file center, and installed it according to the directions. But when I open a .ds1, and select "run", a Dos window opens up, and just sits there, without doing anything. The map never opens.
Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks

You should read the README.txt file. It needs some additional parameters to open a map.
There is also a gui loader for it somewhere on the pk.

Re: Ds1 editor problem
Okay, thank you, that was exactly what I needed to know.
However, when using the loader to configure everything, it gives me the error:
"Error while parsing ds1edit_loader.ini, line 13:
Unknown non-empty line."
Any idea what could be wrong?
I haven't done anything to ... anything since I installed it.
Besides configuring the loader to the correct directories, and such....

Re: Ds1 editor problem
It might help if you posted line 13 from the ds1edit_loader.iniKiahdaj" wrote:"Error while parsing ds1edit_loader.ini, line 13:

Re: Ds1 editor problem
The beginning of the .ini is instructions, regarding the file itself... I'm not sure if that counts for lines. Non are numbered, soo... Also not sure if spaces count.
1. [PARAMS]
That is all that there is to the 13th line, including the beginning, and spaces.
2. arrow.ds1 Act 1 - Stone Fill 2 act1\outdoors 2 30
That is the line if you count the beginning, but don't count spaces.
3. baalew03.ds1 Act 5 - Baal EW expansion\baallair 34 1061
And that is the line, if you skip the beginning.
I wasn't sure what it counted, so I figure it would save time and effort, if I posted all three..
Hope that was of some sort of help..
I did check the .ini before posting the question, but I didn't see any relevance of the line to the error itself, so I was puzzled...

Re: Ds1 editor problem
Is it possible you're running an old version of the loader, or you have an old configuration but a new version? I'm not entirely sure at this moment but I think the [PARAMS] section was replaced with a maplist.txt at some point...
Re: Ds1 editor problem
Actually.. I think that may be what it is...
It would make sense.
These are the two that I downloaded:
https://d2mods.info/filecenter/dload.ph ... le_id=1472
https://d2mods.info/filecenter/dload.ph ... ile_id=125
The loader seems to be fairly recent. But even in the description of the actual loader, it says it's a bit outdated. But I could only find one other version, and that was the release version...
Am I missing something?

Re: Ds1 editor problem
I'm still not sure why the error message is occurring, i still think you must have some old configuration file lying around... But even with that fixed, you've got the wrong program: you need the "win_ds1edit" by paul siramy, not the "ds1 editor" by Isilweo. The loader download is also one minor release behind the current version, but the changes are minimal, so it *should* be working fine..
Re: Ds1 editor problem
I don't know if it's just me, but I can't seem to find it
Am I just missing something?
I couldn't find it through search, or just by searching through the map editing section...

Re: Ds1 editor problem
Oh...
That was the other one that I'd seen, with the first (wrong) editor I downloaded... And I guess I just figured it was the same one, but a different version, so I looked over it...
Thank you, and sorry for being so annoying
Edit: Ugh... So close to being able to start...
I downloaded the right editor, and linked the Loader to it. But when I start it, it says that it can't start, because MSVCR70.dll was not found. That .dll was not included in either downloads.. So I really don't know what to think...

Re: Ds1 editor problem
Must be a very old one. Check here, and take the 2007 version. It should have all necessary dll.
Note : there's also this version win_ds1edit_20100616.zip which I have rewritten a bit, but I don't remember what I changed since the 2007 version. I know I've added something about the command line syntaxe at least.

just google the file required, you will be able to download it and put it in the editors folder.

Yay!
Finally!
Even before I had problems with my hard drive, and had to delete everything, I had major problems getting it all to work...
But now it's fine. Thanks, Paul Siramy, for the new link, and thank you EVERYONE else, for all your help
