Keep Update 05/19/2006

Post by Myhrginoc » Fri May 19, 2006 4:01 pm

It is the middle of May and the thoughts of many are turning towards the warmer lazy days ahead (for those of us north of the Equator). We have some early-season summer escapes here at the Keep.

New Mod for Old
No, this is not a come-on from some lamp-seller from the Arabian Nights. EzechielP has been patiently working on a mod for v1.09d (!!), and it is now playable in German and English. You can read and talk about the mod in this thread in our Non Hosted Mods forum, where you will find a download link. We don't have many people working on mods for v1.09x, so for those who haven't already seen it here is a link to our multi-version tutorial.

New Patch for New
Buffing and tweaking continues on The Fury Within: Awakening, with patch a2p8 now released by Myhrginoc. This patch adds some recipes and fixes a number of bugs. The notorious bug that hid the "# skill points needed for next level" information so much of the time is a thing of the past. Check it out and post your brickbats here.

New Mod Making for Old
Nefarius moves forward with his project to resurrect Classic Diablo II and early Lord of Destruction mod making knowledge. If you scan our site, you would hardly be blamed for thinking mod making started with v1.09b, but the modding story is much older than that. Find out about Levels.txt back in D2 v1.03 here.

New Mod Making for New
Nefarius isn't just looking backward these days. He also contributed a rewrite of the File Guide for NPC.txt, which includes detailed arcana about just how those vendor price columns really work.

New Plugin for New
Have you thought about your own system of skill point requirements, like in Nezeramontias or TFW, but didn't like the lack of display? If you use the D2Mod System by SVR in your v1.10 project, the latest version of the SkillPrereq Plugin by Myhrginoc will help you along. This version fixes the notorious bug that hid the "# skill points needed for next level" information so much of the time. (And if this sounds familiar to the people who read the TFW news item, it was the same bug.)

Old Winner for New
The latest winner in the PK:OT Lottery is elranthan, who picks up $67,000 in OTBucks for his sixth win. We will have to grill AdiTT at the press conference to see if six wins is still the threshold for membership in the Lottery Cabal, but from our knothole he is a shoe-in. Which reminds us, be sure to put your shoe in, for you can't win if you don't play!

If I timed this right, we ran out of news before you ran out of patience! :hide:
Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.

Brickbats? It's not often that I don't get a reference... but you've got me completely stumped here.

So I lay down my pride and ask: what is a Brickbat?
