Keep Update 06/16/2006

Post by onyx » Fri Jun 16, 2006 4:40 pm

Another week passed by and it's once again time to sum up all the news from the Diablo 2 modmaking scene into one nice and informative update post. It has been a quiet week, so don't expect me to launch an avalanche of news upon you, but here we go:

:victory: ONE GUIDE, TWO GUIDES, THREE GUIDES, FOUR
Yes, four. All of them written, formatted and submitted for your reading pleasure by co-admin Nefarius. So if you want to discover the secrets of those damned TXT files, then you need to follow the links and... read ;) Here they are:

Gems.txt fileguide
Objects.txt fileguide
ObjGroup fileguide
MonSeq.txt fileguide

:shocked!: MORE?
There is more :) We can say that this was Nefarius' week hands down. He wrote and submitted yet another article, this time it's the tutorial titled Spawning the Butcher and it's for Diablo 2 v1.06. So if you, for any reason, want to make a mod for classic Diablo 2, this is the thing to read. Find it here.

:disgusted: USUAL SUSPECTS
The last news item for the week comes from the OT Lottery. Elranthan wins the big money (34000$) and puts his name in the winners' list for the 7-th time. If you want to challenge the usual suspects, there is one way to do it - buy a ticket this week ;)

And... that's it. Only that? Yes, only that. Really? Yes, really. Hope next week will be busier and you'll read a longer and more interesting update, I'm out.

And Median's optional downloads. Those were last week, and they forgot it there, too. Be more careful, Onyx ;)

Be more careful? Does this depend on me only?

Havvoric's update was an edit of his old thread, so I and the other admins didn't notice it.

TrueMage's update was released today (which is 3 days after I posted the update).

Brother Laz usually makes announcements and such for his releases, guess we missed him this time. It happens.

In addition, the thread is open for everyone to reply with anything that has been missed. Also, we're reachable in many different ways (PMs, IMs, IRC, e-mails), so anyone who feels that we missed something can reach us and tell us. We cannot always see everything.

If Brother Laz decided not to reply here or remind us in any way of our mistake, it's not your job to play his lawyer.

Okay, okay, calm down. Didn't mean to get you angry or anything. Let's not start an argument here, though. Stuff happens, I guess.

In fact if we would play by the old rules these would be the only ways something would make its way into a site update, by submitting it in...

The topic ascends to an unstable outer orbit quickly. The main thing is, we have always tried to release the Weekly Update on a Friday. Even us admins are scattered around different time zones, and sometimes we get delayed or need to jump the gun a bit. So it is best to attract our attention, in any of the ways described above, and we will do what we can to include such notices in that week's Update. But remember the Friday "deadline" and don't hurt us too much if we miss an item once in a while. If we find out about something right on the heels of an Update release, we often make a change. But anything a day or more later belongs in the next Update.

If everybody decides to use these bulletin threads for continuous announcements, there will no longer be any news to report!
Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
