Shadow Empires : Entering a New Realm

Post by Joel » Mon Feb 09, 2004 11:36 pm

Hi all.

Welcome to the Shadow Empires Mod Forum.

I know, I know, you're maybe disappointed, dazzled, puzzled ... but
yes CWAT and WoT mod has died and their very soul have merged into a new project.

I, Personnaly ditched CWAT for various reason : a lack of motivations lately on this projetc, some moddign dead ends, a frustrastion feeling. I wanted to satrt anew.

So does Black Heart and when we meet at this corner of our common history we decided to merge our project, combinign our experienceS.

BH will come soon and exposes a part of this too.

Check soon, some stuff will be revealed ...

As Joel has elegantly stated the time for a new project has come I apologize to the fans of our old project that were laid to rest.
Their time had come to a end and The Shadow has risen

Keep an eye out for further details.

All eyes turn to the sun as The Shadow rises and twilight takes it hold on the realm.
Sometimes we win with greater firepower, through sheer numbers or more powerful weapons, but for the most part it is knowledge that defines our victories. Know something and it has lost its power over you.

8-O So this is what Brother Laz was hinting about in the former CWAT forum. Well I just want to wish both of you good look on this project.

But... geeze, CWAT had an insane amount of custom graphic work! 8-O

I hope some of that work at least makes it into this mod...

Most of the graphic work is kept don't worry. I haven't ditched ALL trough the sink, I'm not mad. The main problems was recurring bugs that can't be fixed without rewriting the whole mod. And so I choose to start anw, reusing mundane parts of the oldies.

Some of the works will benefits the community two. I already send a 60+ Mb pack of monsters anim to Darque to feed the Infinitum site.

To bad you both lost the motivation on your old projects, but when that happens i think the only thing to do is to move on to the next project.

I wish you both the best luck with the new project.

Hey Joel, any other extra run-off from the merger that might be worth adding to the Keep?

Well, most of the works I've made was skill related so maybe a bunch of missiles dcc from Infinity games will be available.

Moreover, most of the idea I scrapped were recycled as exercices in my big, upcoming "Skill Editing Comprehensive Guide" ;)

I know ppl was waiting for CWAT. Alas, it ended in a endless race for keeping things nice and working. I guess I have put myself into such a situation without even noticing it.

More over i got someone to help me now ^^ (and I'm also here to help him) adn I'm sure BH will kick my ass if I turn lazy again

:cry: Well, can we at least hope that the 15 act structure is either included, or a tutorial on it will be placed somewhere? That is the one thing I'd really be disappointed about if it weren't included.

Btw, did your CWAT beta ever come out? Since you're ditching the project, can we maybe get to play it a little? If we promise not to send you bug reports, lol...

That strange phenomenon that the mods you want most get canceled probably has it's reasons in the insane amounts of work / time those mods need, especially total conversions like CW.

I really regret that CW died, I, too, was waiting for it a long time. But I know that you both are really skilled and I'm sure that the new mod will be even better. I believe that Black Heart has a really good sense for creating atmosphere and I loved the skills / character concepts of Joel. You fit well and I wish you the best luck for this mod! :thumb:

Yes and no.
Shadow Empires is designed to provide you a progrssion up to level 150.
The modwill ocntain three independant part, each granting you 50 level to gain. Each part is a separate mod (a separate MPQ) that can either be played alone (by giving you whatever you need to raise a lvl1 char to lvl 50 or 100 if you start by th epart 2 or 3) but allow you too also keep your old char and go on with it. A bit like the Baldur's Gate series.

There is however only ONE difficulty level but maybe I'll have to fiddle a few and make it so you can choose once the difficulty at char creation and must complete the three part in this same difficulty

Joel : ok gotcha. Will you be releasing each part as it is finished or waiting until all three mods are done before releasing any of it?

Sounds pretty good man. the screen shots all look great. Let the blood fly MUHAHAHAHAHAHA. lol :-) Have you figured out what other classes you are going to do besides the vampire, feyling, and priest?

( shamless plug... and a symbiotic warrior one right???!! lol)

Also are you going to have a web page up anytime soon?? or are you waiting till after the first mod comes out?

Well we prefer to wait to get some stuff fleshed out before bringing a website up. This also means we just mod now ^^

For the other class, without any details and subject to unconditional changes :

-> A fallen ranger cursed to live between our world and the Spirit one.
-> A Beast master.
-> A Shadow Elf cultist.
-> Somekind of Holy warrior

The symbiotic warrior will be cannibalized into another stuff ^^

Holy Warrior... Perhaps name him, JIHADIST? Or maybe, CRUSADER?
