Language Packs

Post by ChaosMarc » Tue May 18, 2010 2:03 pm

Hi :)

I lately had the idea of collecting language packs for diablo in every available language.
By language pack I mean the speeches too. not only the tbl's

currently my collection contains only english and german :(

this is the reason for this post :) I'm hoping that I could find some people here who will help me out :)

the smaller part that everyone who owns the localized game could extract (winmpq) and upload easiely are the 3 tbl files for every language:

string.tbl - d2data.mpq
expansionstring.tbl - d2exp.mpq
patchstring.tbl - patch_d2.mpq (1.13c would be best)

additional I need this two really big mpq:

d2xtalk.mpq
D2speech.mpq

Here is the list of languages and files I still need:

Code: Select all

CHI ESP FRA
expansionstring.tbl expansionstring.tbl expansionstring.tbl
d2speech.mpq d2speech.mpq d2speech.mpq
d2xtalk.mpq d2xtalk.mpq d2xtalk.mpq

ITA JPN KOR
expansionstring.tbl expansionstring.tbl expansionstring.tbl
d2speech.mpq d2speech.mpq d2speech.mpq
d2xtalk.mpq d2xtalk.mpq d2xtalk.mpq

POL POR
string.tbl string.tbl
Expansionstring.tbl expansionstring.tbl
d2speech.mpq d2speech.mpq
d2xtalk.mpq d2xtalk.mpq

RUS
string.tbl
expansionstring.tbl
patchstring.tbl
d2speech.mpq
d2xtalk.mpq
If you own one of the localized diablo versions I am looking for and are able to upload one or more of the files on any hoster/webspace or email me (chaosmarc['at']gmx.de) i would be very thankful :)

greetings
TheMasterCaster

Your going to need d2lang, the fonts(dc6 and tbl) and D2.lng as well if your looking to do a language conversion, there are some other smaller things like entry messages

hi necrolis

thanks for the info! i totally forgot those entry messages.

but d2lang.dll and d2.lng?
i checked both from the english an german version. crc check says they are identical

other things would be stored in the dll's, arent they?

D2lang differers for a few versions, i don't remember what was changed, iirc it was some buffer sizes. D2.lng is basically a plain text file which contains user errors that need to be translated to other languages

The situation changed completely since blizzard lets you download all language via digital downloader directly from battle.net
I did never complete this project, but if you're interested I have a complete collection of the 1.12 digital downloader in all official languages: https://mega.nz/#F!VIth1DKQ!Q42bVsCGQZ4UhoGjqvHxGw
I keep this collection due to the fact that you cannot use D2SE with a downgraded version from the new 1.14 digital downloader due to changes in some of the big mpq (the two related to the serial numbers)

Awesome!... This is better than a complete language pack.

Will check it out.. hope it works with my existing CD key, since I never registered/downloaded the digital version from blizz.
Thanks!

You can register your existing produkts, I done that for my d2 + d1 and expansions. This will allow you download the digital files, good for those who have damage cd/lost it but still have serial key left.

My understanding is: Blizzard only allows the 1.14 version of digital download now.
And... with that version ... comes an MPQ bug that does not allow users to downgrade to previous versions.

So it seems 1.12 digital downloads... are the best version of digital you can get now.

Cheers!

@devurandom
if you only have the old 16 digit keys, you have to register them at https://eu.battle.net/login/login.xml which will convert them to the new 25 digit keys to use them with the digital download installer.

@kingpin
d1 and expansions? I didn't even know diablo 1 and/or hellfire had serials at all O.o
