I go there to rescue Deckard Cain, Get Wirt's Leg and clear the place out. In Cryptforge, I'll use it for numerous other purposes. :)

Tristram Runs
I usually go to Tristram for site seeing... and some xp for my merc when they're still weenies.
Once you open a portal to the Netherworlds first thing in the morning, your day can't get any worse.

I generally don't see the point of Tristram runs on unmodded LOD. The best item I have ever obtained from Tristram was a Silks from Griswold.
However, on Fury Within, Tristram runs are quite handy. Griswold's Boneash has a near 100% chance of dropping uniques, and some of them not too low of a TC either.
