I could use some help finding a mod if you have the time

Post by sutasafaia » Sat Jul 02, 2011 8:42 pm

If this is in the wrong forum I do apologize, this seemed to be the closest one for general mod discussion.

My search-fu is weak, I'll admit it. I've found tons of mods, some of which are more than likely excellent, but they all seem to change the game way to much. I'm hoping you can help me out, really hoping, I want to play D2 again!

Anyway, the version I'm running is the latest D2X. All I really want out of the mod is revamped items. I want to play (more or less) the same D2 I've always played and loved, I just want new stuff to hunt for so that I can get the excitement back of finding new gear. As it is right now if I find a unique or set item, most of the time I don't even have to ID it before I know what it is.

Are there any mods out there that give you new toys to search for without ruining the basic gameplay that is the real D2X? I've been playing Titan Quest: IT (and to a lesser extent the new Hellgate when it's actually working) to hold me over in the mean time, it's not a bad game, but I still miss good old D2.

Thank you in advance

Try looking at Talonrage's requiem of sorrow. That has a few optional addons with heaps of different items.

Thanks, that one looks pretty interesting.

A question though, if I download his mod, do you know if I need the Plugin Kit also? He seems to hint that it's all part of the mod but it's hard to tell.

I hope I'm understanding your query correctly.
The complete mod is made up of the following plugins:

Talonrage UniqueItems Plugin
Talonrage Runeword Plugin
Talonrage Sets Plugin
Talonrage Cubing Formula Plugin
Talonrage Prefix/Suffix Plugin
Talonrage Area Maps Plugin
Talonrage Enhanced Character Plugin
Talonrage Enhanced Gambling Odds Plugin
Talonrage Increased Item Stacks Plugin
Talonrage Hireling Plugin
Talonrage Skills Plugin
Talonrage Properties Plugin

If you want to use them all, then you should just download the complete plugin kit.
If you just want to use some of them, then install them in the above order.

What I mean is, this is what I downloaded: Requiem of Sorrow Download v6.00
If I have that, do I need to also download this: Talonrage Complete Plugin Kit v2.5 Download

It's hard to tell from their description if the plugins are all already included in the mod itself.

That has all you need to play. (remember, it's a 1.10 mod)

Ok, so I don't need to download the plugin kit then? That's good to know.

Will this game crash then if I try to use 1.13? I do not have the disks for it, I download from the main Blizz website and I think it defaults to 1.12. It's been about five years since I've tried to mod my game so I don't even remember how to force it to only use an older version. I know you can just download the specific patches (hopefully this site has them maybe) but I know there's lots of viruses out there attached on some other sites.

Ok, update time...

Tried to play at 1.13, got errors.
Tried to use the shadow something program that sets it back to 1.10, got errors.
Found out that you must have the CD to play older versions of the game but I currently lack my CD

Not quite sure how to get this all working now.
