well, I read your pm, check mod making forums and go off. I come back an hour later and poof! -1 unread messages. and it's still the same right now ... weird.

Never had this happen to me. My guess is maybe someone sent you a message and deleted it before you read it and something went wrong. This is only a shot in the dark though.

Perhaps it's going to go back to normal next time you receive a message.

yes, receiving a message indeed fixed it, but I still don't know how it happened ^^
anyways, fixed now.

Minus 1 simply means an unread message has been deleted by the sender, just the way they coded phpbb!
