I realize advertising brings money to a forum but please, can the little pop up that only appears on this forum - so it's not something on my side - permanently leave? The pop up is titled "related results by chitika" and it appears everytime you click on any forum page here. I'm not trying to be rude but it's annoying as hell and this forum is already clunky as it is without another ad, pop up or what have you.

yep i agree with you here bro...
it's ok to have adz so the keep could support itself
but, i think they should set it up where it doesnt insert itself through forum text
a small pop-up pretty much like a small chat window in facebook would be good...

The keep does not support itself, the ads make an average of 5$ per month and thats a fraction of the hosting prize - the rest i scramble together each month doing some extra gigs.
Chitika ads are not the best in terms of control over ad sizes and formats but thats what it takes atm for us to be independant and online. I'll see if i can tweak their setting a bit more, thou you could always use adblock plus with the easylist and you wont see any ads at all, unless allow them.

After the ad incomes atm i pay around 25$ per month from my own pocket.
About the slowness.
The keep did run with xcache a while back and it was much faster (around 90% faster) but we run out of memory even thou there is 8gb ram. The biggest issue thou is the pure size of the keeps database, millions of rows to check when someone uses search for instance.
