BTH Installation woes...unhandled exception/missing dll?

Post by Murka » Wed Jun 08, 2011 12:02 pm

Hey guys,
I'm trying to install BTH,I have read the installation instructions and followed them precisely, right now the folder structure is
C:\Program Files\Diablo II\BTH\
Using windows 7, tried to run it both with the windowed/no sound way and sandboxie. no way...
If I try running it as-is I get an UNHANDLED EXCEPTION ACESS VIOLATION c0000005 error.
If I try running it through sandboxie I get the missing dll error.

Help?

A quick search in the forum shows that other people have had this problem and they managed to make the mod work by reinstalling the game. Is it possible that you have leftovers from other mods in your Diablo II folder?

My only conclusion is that I'm probably doing something wrong, but I have no idea what, since I followed the installation instructions...
Installed Diablo 2 > Expansion > Patch 1.10 > Created "BTH" folder inside the "Diablo II" folder> extracted BTH 1.00 into that > Installed Sandboxie > Run BTH.exe in Sandboxie > No go

First - Stop double and triple posting.. Just use edit to remake your post or add something to.

I'd advice you to also download the latest version of the mod - 1.02
Also I'm not sure you have to create a BTH folder, since if I remember correctly it's in the archieve.
Just make sure that there's no other folders inside ../Diablo II/BTH
But just the Mod Files and the executable.

Also I really wanna know if your Diablo II is a pirate version? If so..you can forget to play this mod since it's working only with Original Diablo II Expansion.

Tried with 1.02, same thing.
The archive does not contain a folder, just the files + a save folder that has to be inside the created BTH folder (That's what it says in the instructions)

Out of curiosity: which exact .dll is reported as missing and which version of Win7 are you running?
And more important: Have you successfully started another mod with Sandboxie?

I'm sorry, at this point I have no idea what's wrong, that's why I'm not answering :( Perhaps if you send me a log of your D2 from when you attempted to run the mod, I'd be able to make something out of it? My e-mail is listed in the mod documentation.

I was having the same issues this guy seems to be having, the specific .dll it says I'm missing is the d2gfx.dll. As for windows, I'm running Windows 7 v6.1 home premium. I've successfully modded quite a few things and have used sandboxie before to run other old games on this machine.

In a moment you will have realized this, then you will banish me from your visions and I shall dissolve into the nothingness out of which you made... me..."
